- To be decommissioned by the end of the year! The last of LA Sanitation’s Pete Octagonal Amreps are on the way out. Originally ordered as a batch of 112 Octos, and 3 HX-450s that were thrown in, these 2005 Pete 320 diesel trucks have served the various yards around the city with class for 19 years. Most of these Amreps started in yards such as West LA, Harbor, and North Central but in recent years have been distributed out of their original yards into South LA, and both Valleys as their older sisters, the dual fuels, were retired. Today, (as of 7/21/24) only 39 of the 115 total remain in service, and are rapidly being pulled.
The West Valley yard is the yard with territory I happen to be in almost 5 days a week, this also happens to be the yard with by far the most aggressive trucks in the city. Many drivers sure love flooring these trucks and making the arms free fall downwards. I can say with near certainty that these trucks ran routes pretty mellowly until being shipped out here. It is absolutely awesome to watch these things at work and it made me rediscover my love for LA Amreps, which I gained years ago through TH-cam, but seemingly lost over time as the web became more and more saturated with videos of these trucks. So enjoy this compilation of several trucks being free falled, zipped, revved up, and a couple even with the classic LA autorev! They won’t be around much longer. West Valley once operated 30 of the 2005 Petes, 29 Octos, and one HX-450. Only 10 diesels (All octos) remain in service at the district and that number will continue to drop until they are all gone. Each of these trucks has a timer on its life, but there’s no knowing when it runs out til it’s too late.

Special thanks to the awesome Men and Women featured in this video and all drivers from the West Valley District! Many were extremely welcoming and a few even went as far to help out with route info for other units.
Also a special thanks to South LA Refuse for suggesting I film 757 and 808 as well as helping with routing info on those particular units! 757 in particular wound up becoming my favorite of these trucks - บันเทิง
What is LA replacing most of these amrep octos with?
LNG and CNG Pete 520 Amrep HX-450s, you can tell they are different because they have the yellow arms
Great video brother happy Sunday afternoon
Thanks!
@@Amrepdude499 your welcome
Great video! These are probably my favorite trucks to film at the moment, always something different with these. Nice that you got 788, that was my top truck to get until I found out that it was gone. Great video yet again!
Thanks, yes these are quite fun but sad to see how quickly they are dropping. I got news today that 36866 which is featured in this video also is probably done which leaves West Valley with 13 diesels
@@Amrepdude499 wow, I got a few clips of that truck thank god. I can’t believe they are dropping like this, but it’s about there time.
@@California_refuse581 866 is still on hold as is 807 in the main repair yard in downtown LA, likely done. Both from this video. Also from this video is 36788 and 36790 which are confirmed done in the junkyard.

Thank you!
Glad you found 866 back there
Thanks! Sadly I think that one is done now. It got sent to the main yard by Redondo Junction this week. 788 from this video also was shipped there a couple weeks ago
