I always believed the pickups in the alembic were side by side hum buckers. I did not know they were single coils. Very good demonstration. Thanks you.
Thanks Darrell, so glad you found this interesting. I always thought they were dual coils because they are so quiet. When we did some research we found out all Alembic pickups are single coils. Be well.
Indeed the pickup internals are the same. The difference in sound is due to scale length, strings and woods. I was told the vermillion top on the Orion would give me a little bump in the lower mids & it does! I like that little extra thump with the FatBoy bridge pickup, it makes finger style punchy. Be well and keep making music. :)

dig the SC front pup... excellent
Very interesting! I always wondered what´s the difference between these pickups! Thank you!
You are VERY welcome! :) and... AMAZING demonstration!
Thanks Holland, glad you found this as interesting as I did. Be well.
Excellent video and the card you used to check the pups, what is it and where can I get one please?
It's called "magnetic viewing film" you can search on Amazon. I think mine is the 6"x4" size. I hope this helps. :)
They are stack coil humcancelling. Only difference between axy and mxy is the casing. The fat boy is a wider coil, but still stacked to cancel noise.
The main takeaway for me is, the pickups sound very similar sounding and Alembic basses are Amazing!!!!!

Hi Sam what strings do you use?
Fender nickel on the Stanley Clarke and DR Hi Beams on the Orion. 45-105 gauge. :)
@@samatza Thanks for getting back to me, have you ever used Alembic strings?
Is that a DX7 behind you? 😂
Actually an Ensoniq ESQ-1 in perfect working order. :)
That is WAY COOL!
Thanks mate!
He had the pickups mixed up. The Orion has MXY and the S. C. has AXY.
right you are! I had the names the wrong way around, thanks for pointing that out. be well :)
