OMG it's here!!! had the chance to meet you guys in the Hotel. You 2 have the sharpest knowledge in cycling and still are so down to earth and reachable. Been following the pod for 4 years now, what a journey 🙌 keep it up!
This is just plain awesome. Been listening to you guys on and off over the years, and its' great to see you out there, instead of behind the mic. Benji - keep up the great work getting fit - you the man!
Agreed. For those of us who love the podcast and appreciate the whole contributing team, its great to see him on air and easily stronger than Patrick BTW. ;) For real though did he soft-pedal up?
This is the best warmup movie to the Ronde. Watched it sunday morning and it made my day. Keep up the good work and I think a lot of people would enjoy you guys doing something for these big time races regularly.
"No, that's a crepe." A lovely film of moments with podcast friends (Benji & Patrick & Luc) in my cycling dream location, the cobbles and climbs of Flanders in Belgium. Well done!
This was top viewing. Great job - I did the Flandrien challenge myself last year. We tried for a single day, but a broken rear mech meant it was a 3-dayer. This combination of cycling tourism video with all of your racing knowledge really works. Hope to see more in the future!
I would love to do a ride with Patrick's "This is where..." commentary. Great film, It would be great to see more like this, and I'd love to hear about your bikes!
Talking smack about the Koppenberg was great content lol I really enjoyed the video! I look forward to seeing you guys improve on this stuff as you do it in the future! Off the top of my head, some graphics of maps showing your route and a slightly more cohesive story or plan might help suck people in. But the quips and passion you guys have for describing the hills and how they relate to the pro peloton right now is very entertaining.
Well that was a great trip down memory lane from a different perspective . I lived and raced in this region for a year from 1990-91. I lived in the town of kortrijk and joined the local club there which Boonan was a member of as well . Racing was 3 - 4 times a week doing the kermis and Crit circuit , a typical kermis which is Flemish for a fair was about 120 km and we did it just over 2 and a half hours . It’s always interesting to see ppl riding these roads and hills as if it’s like a Mecca and I can understand this . As a young cyclist living in a small country town in Queensland I started watching all the spring classics via video and it became a goal of mine to ride there. I was very lucky to live above a bike shop and the owner was a famous former mechanic of Flandria . Quite often some pros would drop in the shop to say hi , like the day Phil Anderson dropped in and we met, The Motorola team lived close by and Greg lemons house was in the next village I would see him out training some times as well as Phill . I was riding up the koppenberg one day when it was in a much worse condition as it is now and the owner of the house on top cam down in his car , he invited me to go up to his home and the team officials Jan Raas were playing pool as team Buckler were coming up on there Mtb’s , he asked me if I knew what Stront (shit) was and we picked up some shovels from the farm across the road and threw manure all over the cobbles , it was his practicle joke on the team . The owner took me down to Oudenaarde where I got my photo take with Rooks and Vanderaerden . So many magical moments being taken to Gent 6 day and meeting Merckx , Sercu and Danny Clark, being driven over all the pro circuits including Roubaix and I rode the amateur Roubaix myself finishing on the velodrome with the brother of the 1988 winner dirk demol whis brother was in our team Gheert Demol. We had a team of 6 and had 15 flats, I was the only one who didn’t puncture or crash. But life was tough racing for money so you could eat that night riding to a race then riding back home to an apartment with no shower. Good to see ppl doing it much easier today .
Bloody awesome production. It’s great to see the four of you (sorry Jack) having a blast. I’ve always been interested in going to stay @theflandrianhotel now it’s a must. Looking forward to more of this content showcasing a region before the big races.
Guys, you’ve brought a huge amount of joy to cycling for me. Your analysis, geekery and camaraderie are so entertaining. I would like to see you guys comment on a live race!
Great video, guys. I've always been more attracted to the famous mountains, but there's something special about this area that is definitely worthy of a visit from any cycling fan. Also, this video made me glad to be a Luddite who is still riding a mechanical setup.
LOOOOOVE THIS! ❤ Top drawer content. LR on tour needs to be an annual event. Different cycling Mecca each year. Mallorca or Girona or Côte D'Azur next?
Thanks for a wonderful video; brings back a of memories from the 80s when I did the Ronde van Vlaanderen for cyclo-tourists a couple of times. The difference between those days and now is that the bikes offer more comfort and better gearing. We had to make do with a 42x24 as best option, but with GP4 and 25 mm tubulars it was doable. On race days, it's quite a different story, though.
Great stuff lads, this wouldve been an awesome experience. Now Benji needs to come down under to experience the legendary Challambra climb from Cadel Evans Road Race 😂😂
Love it!!!! Exceptionally produced. Boots on the ground perspective. Just love watching it. Put a huge smile on my face and really made my day. Thanks Guys!!
Yep, I've done Etapé du Tours, Marmottes, etc, but the most enjoyable event I've ever done was the Tour of Flanders in the rain last year. Nothing like that cycling history.
Hi from the UK. I found this really entertaining and also informative.. esp. as I am off to Flanders to do the 128km sportive on Saturday with a couple of friends (also watching the race on Sunday).
🎉Congratulations - this was really lovely - great editing & music direction - far exceeded my (good) expectations - now do some more historic race climbs
Nice 1 guys, was a great watch and well done for getting up those C word bergs..... and well done Patrick for the 2nd half of day 1...... fk cycling in that weather on any roads, let alone those cobbled climbs...... cheers guys.... look forward to your RVV round up ...... keep up the good work.....
This is awesome boys. So good to see this sort of thing, and experience it for yourselves. As an Australian who's gone and stayed in Gent, and ridden these roads, it's so awesome to see. I'm busting to go back, and take some of my friends to show them this area too. 2025 is the plan.
You guys make quality content! Apparently, because I clicked on this thinking, I'll have a quick look... 42 mins down the road I was still here! Chapeau, BTW always love your content!
Bravo team! 🔥👏🏽 Best piece of lrcp content since Remco interview! Editing. Storyboarding. Production quality all in point / elite! That B Roll particularly delightful! 😍 We need more like this from you all. 🙌🏽
This is amazing, thanks guys for sharing this. Really captured the culture and the climbs, great effort on the Flandrien challenge. Patrick- socks under the leg warmers next time you are cycling in Belgium please!
Do you think you have what it takes to conquer the Flandrien Challenge? Check out all the details here - www.cyclinginflanders.cc/flandrien-challenge
Trentin is 66-1 in the US. Matthews just podiumed MSR and is 100-1. Did LR move the odds?? Yes I am a gambling degenerate. Haha
The flandrien challenge? Piece of cake compared to a British cycling path 🤣🤣
I‘d never thought I would a watch 45 min documentary about Patrick and Benji but here I am.
I think I’m most impressed by Patrick’s ability to talk trough all those climbs
no literally
Impressed? Yes. Shocked? No.
Haha ❤️
You guys are the best. Frankly you've changed modern cycling commentary and content for the better in so many ways. Chapeau lads.
I saw Dune : Part 2 yesterday, now the 2nd best cinematic experience of my week. Plenty sand, not enough cobbles.
OMG it's here!!! had the chance to meet you guys in the Hotel. You 2 have the sharpest knowledge in cycling and still are so down to earth and reachable. Been following the pod for 4 years now, what a journey 🙌 keep it up!
Was really nice to meet you, mate! 🥰

@@BenjiNaesenTV haha thanks u and Patrick are the best, sometimes I even watch ur Podcasts twice eventhough I know what ur saying lol
Kudos to whoever edited/directed this
Shot by Jack Davies at Friction Collective. Edited by myself (LR) and him
Brilliant work JD ď@@LanterneRougeCycling- Masterpiece!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This tips me over into thinking Flanderian Springtime racing is more prestigious than TDF
6:39 - brilliant transition here using the windscreen wiper! 👏
Was awesome having you guys stay with us at the Flandrien Hotel!
This is just plain awesome. Been listening to you guys on and off over the years, and its' great to see you out there, instead of behind the mic. Benji - keep up the great work getting fit - you the man!
Happy to see the legendary Luc 'will look it up' Grefte in action!!
Agreed. For those of us who love the podcast and appreciate the whole contributing team, its great to see him on air and easily stronger than Patrick BTW. ;) For real though did he soft-pedal up?
that map struggle at 30:26 was absolutely relatable.
Well done!
Big kudos to Patrick! Going up these climbs in these conditions like that is not so easy! Chapeau!

You guys had a great trip, nice to see Benji's efforts and Patrick venturing up💪
Thanks so much guys, really enjoyed this. Great to see Luc in front of the camera. Roll on 500K subscribers!

Unreal boys, could watch this stuff all day 👍🏼

Loved it all - the format, the cinematic, the editing. Really hope is the first one of a series! Congrats team
Can't believe that you are reciting the race history while pushing up these climbs. What a legend!!
What a great representation of the various climbs and route told with passion. Well done Patrick & Benji. Way better than any GCN review.
Bloody awesome production. It’s great to see the four of you (sorry Jack) having a blast. I’ve always been interested in going to stay @theflandrianhotel now it’s a must. Looking forward to more of this content showcasing a region before the big races.
Nice edit! Been 21 years since Ive ridden on those roads. Brings back good memories.
I love the vibrating voice from talking while riding cobbles
Nicely done documentary, guys. Nicely shot, compiled, and edited. Seems like you had fun putting it together. Very enjoyable.
Also always love Patrick’s interactions with wildlife lol

The Tony Greig key test, love it!!
Well done guys, pretty jealous to be honest 👍👍👍
That's a pretty niche part of the venn diagram to be sure!
@@pendodave4661 Pretty much every Australian over about 25-30 would get the joke
As a Yorkshireman- I know it as the Geoff Boycott key test. 😂
Excellent video guys and great to watch on the morning of the big race!
Been looking forward to this video - it didn’t disappoint. Great stuff guys. Hope you do it again
More of this type of stuff please lads, that was great!
So glad you went and rode this region! The history permeates the very air. Benji looks great and makes a fine DS & tour guide!
Such a great video! Need more of this from you guys. Disappointed that Benji had some trouble and didn't get to complete everything. Fantastic edit!!
Riding up Bosberg and Kwaremont - easy ✅
pronouncing the word asphalt - impossible ❌ excellent movie guys, really enjoyable!
lol
Nice on well done and thanks to bringing the reality of the climbs home…. I do wonder how many tractors went through between you and the race … 😂
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen on TH-cam. Had so much fun watching this! ❤

Pat « so it’s a crepe ? »
Benji « no, it’s not a crepe »
😂😂😂🤣
Absolutely loved watching this
Luc looked class on the boike 👌🤟
Phil Anderson was the first Australian flandrien to conquer all these cobbled roads and clinbs, my mother was among his biggest fans.
40 min. Not much of a narrative. And I'm thoroughly entertained!
Keep up the good work guys, big fan of the podcast here
LOOOOOVE THIS! ❤ Top drawer content. LR on tour needs to be an annual event. Different cycling Mecca each year. Mallorca or Girona or Côte D'Azur next?
Remember what made Phil and Paul so special was the extra colour/non biking content they provided…really enjoyed this.
Visma might have to call you both up for the RVV 😂
Good stuff guys. I would love to see some more videos like this where you ride famous climbs etc like Mur De Huy or some of the P-R sectors.
This is THE content boys. Loving it.
Nice to see Benji using at least one sensible bike; a proper ti build with decent (mostly external) cable routing routing 👌.
This is absolutely class!!! Can’t get enough of it boys!!
Someone send this to Scorsese, this is CINEMA
"WTF are people talking about this climb for?!" lmfao

10/10 fashion for the full cycling kit and timberlands from Luc 😂
What a wonderful film. Great to see you and Benji develop.
Thanks for all the entertainment!
Great vid. Good to see Luc getting some air-time.
Reminds of "In Bruges" but with bikes.
This is so good. Tom Boonen’s legs would be proud.
Shoutouts to Benji for making such massive strides in his fitness; massive achievement!

Amazing guys. Thanks and keep up 🎉
I loved this video, great to see both of you out on your bikes and the commentary throughout was wonderful!
I cracked on the koppenberg last summer. Then had to grovel up the taaienberg back to where I was staying. Good memories haha
