Guys just because we don't have the college football thing going on here does not mean we treat sports as a past time when younger. Most football clubs have kids as young as 5 on their books then there is Sunday league football and believe that is seriously competitive. Pretty much all sports have the grass roots kids here.

In terms of feeder systems, we have 92 professional clubs as well as numerous semi-professional clubs.
We have school and local teams growing up.
If you’re good, then you can be at a pro club from the age of 10.

I think we have a feeder system. It's pretty obvious we do. It's just we like elite level sport from people who have earned it through talent and are observed by scouts.
School is for learning and not target practice. Learning sports history and geography are also included. Languages are not done well here.

European football clubs scout and recruit players into their academies from an incredibly young age. We don't have the college system but even if we did i don't think it would be particularly effective anyway. A kid that has been through the academy system at a premier league club from the ages of 8 to 18 is gonna be much, much more developed than a kid that has played for his high school and earned a college scholarship. And besides, if you've been on the books of a professional club since childhood (which all the best kids will be), where's the incentive to want to gain a college scholarship to play?

Come to think of it, I can't personally think of any British professional player who went to uni at 18. I'm sure there must be a handful but they are greatly outnumbered by those who didn't. Which makes it even funnier that the guys who play for uni football teams think they are god's gift to the world. Biggest arseholes at uni, even the rugby boys were sounder than them
