Great advise! I also own an in- home daycare and agree with all of this. One con of mine would be difficult children. Some providers believe in termination for difficult children, but I couldn’t do that to a family when they child’s behavior is usually age appropriate. I also started out with hours from 7am-5pm and it was miserable. This year my hours changed to 7:30a-4:30p - it’s a game changer. Hope you are able to open back up soon!

Awh thank you!! Yes definitely if I reopen in the future I’ll be closing earlier! I agree with behavior that is age appropriate even if it’s tough!

Great video! Love your logo… I’m currently thinking about starting a home daycare. My major concern is with Covid. How do you navigate that? Are checking temperatures? How sick can a child be before you ask for a covid test? Do you require the families to be vaccinated? Etc… and also with pricing, how did you come up with your monthly fees?
    Thanks!

Hi! I do not require temperature checks at the door currently but I’m very vigilant with watching for any symptoms and making sure the kids are staying home with any symptoms and getting tested if the symptoms don’t subside. I do not require families to be vaccinated against Covid but because I’m licensed I do require the regular immunizations. My monthly fees are listed on my website www.lilaclearning.com I basically just looked around at other centers and home daycares and made my prices comparable!

Is it complicated when it comes to ur own children medical or dental appointment because you need to leave ur home ?

Yes this does get difficult! I suggest either closing early or taking Fridays off to deal with appointments

Hi there! Quick question: Is it better for taxes to be a single member LLC or a multiple member LLC for an in home daycare business?

Hi! I don’t think I’m knowledgeable enough about taxes to give you a definitive answer but I can point you to this resource- I hope it is helpful!

Are you licensed and what certifications do you have to able to have a home daycare?

Hi! Yes I was licensed- it varies per state. There is usually a checklist you can find online for your state agency that will guide you through the steps
