As a Costarican, Medicine carrier and indigenous person. I would like to share that it is important to know that land carries energy / vibration. She is alive as you live on her soil the intention is to understand that you do NOT own her you are her care taker. In indigenous cultures we are thought to sit, listen and wait for her to show us her plan. In a practical sense because you are living in a tropical rainforest were live changes drastically between seasons as a trained permaculturist of many years, I can share that is recommended also to wait over a year to build so you can watch what is happening on the land, how does the rain move on the terrain were is the sun passing through the day to pick up garden spots, were are the highest point on the land to choose water collection tanks....
Hi Lara :) that’s great information thanks so much! Half the land was unfortunately taken over by a teak forest so our plan is to completely restore what is was before hand. We love just sitting and watching the wild life around us, specially the birds! The land gets plenty of sun but we are struggling to figure out where we can start planting some fruit trees. We are in no rush and just taking our time :) Where are u based? Thanks for the feedback ✨

I work with an organisation Movimiento Ancestral were our main intention is to educate bring awareness to the current neo-colonization happening in latin American countries putting Permaculture experts in touch with new land stewards and sharing ancestral wisdom. Is important to remember that when you are settling your life in a new land that is not a direct line to your ancestry line.
I am soooooo happy for you two! What's even more exciting from a personal standpoint is that we are also preparing to close a deal and move onto our own land, which is almost perfectly synchronized with what you guys are doing... such an adventure! Y'all are at the ocean and we're in the mountains (our new land has a birds-eye view of the Miravalles volcano) so between us all we have the best parts of Costa Rica just outside our new windows. And we both bought jungle land way off the beaten path where even the drive to it is part of the adventure. Wouldn't have it any other way! Congratulations again! This is so exciting! P.S. if you want more mango trees, I have some babies started, as well as come coconut palms and a few caimito (star apple) trees. Would be happy to share! :-)

@@Saltypalmtree so how about this: let me go ahead and fix you up a fruit tree "care package" with some of the seedlings I have started, including coconut palms and caimitos and mangos and whatnot, and by the time they're big enough to go into the ground you'll know where you want to put them. I'll send you a photo on Insta once I get that put together, and then maybe Michel and I can cruise down toward Nosara or you guys can cruise up toward the volcano at some point later this year and I can get those plants to you. The beauty of it is that we all live here now, so we have all the pura vida in the world to make plans and live the life. Can't wait to see more videos of what you're doing there!
