    I tend to get warps like that on my thin chef knives (2mm tapering down to zero) and have found that clamping them in a fixture that bends the blade slightly opposed the the warp while tempering get them out nicely. I do one temper without the fixture then do the second with it so the knife isn't brittle going into the fixture

    • @GreenBeetle
      @GreenBeetle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've got a bar with a rod welded crossways in the middle I use for that purpose. I tried torching this one then tempering while clamped and it only got worse for some reason . I think the solid stripes of 1095 running lengthwise didn't get along with the the rest of the billet. Lots of tension. I could flip bent portion of the edge back in forth so it would "pop" out one side and stay then I'd pop it out the other direction.

    A failure is an opportunity. I say take the knife that did not work out, cut, stack, fold, twist, cuss, fold again, twist again, cut again, stack again, cuss some more, maybe add some Sheet Rock Screws, cuss, fold, twist and stack see what you get. Maybe something totally unplanned and random. Say add enough for Bowie Knife size? Humor intended and just a thought.
