  • 17 Weather mods compared ( Vanilla included )
    11 Meteo situations
    The comparison has been made with NO ENB to be fair for all weather mods
    only mountain fog and Storm lightning added
    All weather mods have been compared on their vanilla custom weathers
    Some weathers have really different and unique features, some have custom clouds included or mist effect or unique sunset and sunrise.
    It's not a matter which one is the best, it's a matter of what are you looking for.
    P.S.: Picturesque weathers overhaul result to be extremly dark cause it's suppose to work along it's own ENB preset

    Again, well done. Of all the mod videos we see comparisons, Weather is a big one. There are a lot of options. You go further adding a special ENB to correspond with a specific chosen weather, and then tweak yourself silly getting the coloration just right. Never too sure if your clouds are catching light just the way you want. It’s a long enduring process, for sure. Then trying to find the right time and place to start filming. I can only imagine some people have breathtaking views. Skyrim can really blow your mind sometimes. I recently added Morning Fogs, and adjusted my Sun, refined a Lens effect. Wife can’t understand what’s taking so long… there’s only like 800 options.

    When I think of Thunderstorms...
    I think of big black ominous clouds...
    Sheeting black rain...
    Terrifying giant bolts of lightning that fork
    off in various directions along with flashes
    that light up both cloud and sky followed by
    powerful claps of thunder that shake the very
    Earth mixed in with the sounds of rolling thunder
    as the storm passes through...
    The intensity of the rain ebbs and flows from the
    very beginning of the storm to its end...
    Don’t forget the smell of burnt ozone after a lightning
    strike...!
    I didn’t see that with any of them...
    And don’t forget about the light drizzley rain that
    happens along during the early day and afternoon
    that just kind of lulls you into a deep relaxed state
    and leaves the air smelling clean and fresh...

    The author of Picturesque clearly doesn't like to see during the day :D diff'rent strokes! I like the vibrancy of Aequinoctium, the snow storms of Rustic and Cathedral/Obsidian as an overall pick.
    [Edit] RE Picturesque: That being said, looking at their Nexus page, it seems it has an accompanying ENB, and their images appear to be much brighter. Maybe we didn't get the full Picture(sque) :P

      It is mentioned in the description of the Video, This comparison is made without ENBs, cause enbs alter the visual of weather lightning, mentioned Picturesque as a weather mod but it comes with its own ENB so it results very dark

    Comments on a few of these mods. I have Obsidian right now and I'm mostly happy with it though at times certain parts of the landscape seem a little too bright. Adjusting the settings in the mcm helps with this. Obsidian is made by the same people that made Dolomite and is considered a better mod. (I've used both at different times) Autumn Skies looks really good and I might change to that sometime in the future. Cathedral IMO has waaaay too much blue filter. Climates of Tamriel in my experience is just a slightly upgraded vanilla experience. Lastly, Picturesque is supposed to look completely different than this. The darkness levels are caused by an installation issue.

    • @L3st4tSkyrimMods
      @L3st4tSkyrimMods  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Picturesque is suppose to work with its enb, but as i mention before it was not fair to not include it ( you still can see meteos features of it ), well to be honest all weather mods come from same authors, at least the bases are from authors that have created weather mods for skyrim le and moved to skyrim se with open assets, it is good that we have variety more than the previous version and we can choose what fit our taste

      This video feels decieving. To be honest Obsidian and Aqeuinoctium and NAT... Even Elfx and Dolomite look far better than this. I've tried them all. No ENB.
      In Vanilla withouth ENB everything is green/pale during the day and blue/grey and barely dark at all.
      To each their own, ofc.
      Edit: Not decieving on purpose, I just don't think it really shows their true nature. Video is great. But try before you discard.

    Question:
    Are the clear skies in the video REALLY clear skies? Because in many of them there's suspicious amount of clouds and the sky isn't blue but white. (I wanted to compare the blue sky hues but couldn't.)

    • @L3st4tSkyrimMods
      @L3st4tSkyrimMods  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they are all clear skies ( there are currently 7 types on vanilla and all are different ) the amount of clouds depends on which one of this 7 is and also change the color of the sky for all 7 clear type, some weather mods have a complete clear skies with no clouds at all but it is 1 on 7, i did this comparison randomly so one can be a clear-pineforest another one clear-marsh, there are also few weather mods with a consistante amount of clouds also in clear situation, i think aequinotium is one of this and also dolomite, anyway the sky color is easy to correct with ENB

      Kyne s weather is a mix o multiple weather's of this compilation, I am not considering it as a weather mod but an attempt to make work 3/4 weather mods together and when it came out it was also broken cause the season feature was not working properly and when I point this out to author he simply answer me he was not interesting in making it work....., is offering something that is not and it is not a personal work but a batch of others works made badly, so no reason to mention it

    • @ZephrusPrime
      @ZephrusPrime ปีที่แล้ว

      @@L3st4tSkyrimMods Well I've been using it for a few years now and it's actually great. I haven't had anything broke whatsoever. It is the first weather mod that I have run that looks great without an ENB. The combo of the different weathers seems to produce a really balanced feel for realism with a touch of fantasy. I haven't found anything that would make me not use it.

    • @L3st4tSkyrimMods
      @L3st4tSkyrimMods  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ZephrusPrime i have not doubt in that, basicly you are using obsidian weathers that is well build and you will not see anything broken because you don't know how it works, Obsidian has a script for the season ( like all weather mods with season ), this allow to the mods to show a particolar meteo during a period ( lets say summer more clear sunny weather, autumn more rain and so on ), there are other things, but this would take long to explain! While Obsidian cover Vanilla perfectly, the other meteos that kynes add are not vanilla but were part of other mods that covered vanilla, they are not part of the script so they will work as a Vanilla based on Skyrim Engine overwriting the season script ( so breaking the season ) or they even will not work anyway ( so you will play with Obsidian ) or they will show a meteo situation that will result odd during the season (like snow during summer or suddently snow then sun ), this is the main reason a point, for example my Scandinavian Seasons has also different weathers from Vanilla but they are part of the season script so they will work as intended ( i have lightning storm that will happen only in summer for example, rain with cloudy/sunny happening mostly in spring and early summer ) this is the correct way to make them work, i am sure Kynes author has good intention to do it and sure he has some good mods done but not this weather batch mod.

    There is always something off about each weather, all of them does something right however Aequinoctium produces the most neutral looking image, which feels natural and flat enough for ebs to work on, whch can fix its dark nights however it has a drawback...much less fog yet on the village blizzard scene its way too foggy?? that makes no sense and it'd be perfect if we could tweak these two settings to make fog a bit stronger, and i guess blizzard a bit less strong

    To me the best are : Scandinavian, Nothern Saga, Mythical and Cathedral who each handle some aspect very well.

      Scandinavians, mythical and rustic...
      Rustic snowstorms are tooo intense though.

      I don't think is bad, it is build to work with its specific enb, reason it results so dark without it, i know it was not a good idea to show it like this, but i wanted a fair comparison with all weather mods
