Saving for this car... Currently own a 2014 accord and I'm getting bored. This car looks like a beautiful bmw, without a lot of the bs that will cause more problems
Have never understood the “controversy” in regards to the design. It’s all opinion, but I think it looks fantastic! That white interior is an interesting spec, with the Brooklyn Grey, but it looks fantastic too, imo. Can be spec’d with “Orange” interior, which would contrast well with the Brooklyn Grey.
The 230i is great in base trim with just a couple of options. Honestly there is absolutely no need to get the expensive performance options at all. My car came with the Convenience package and heated seats and heated steering wheel. The MSRP was $39,500. So it’s fun to drive and is great on gas. Overall a really nice daily driver for a good price.
I bought one because of the likeness of the original M3 as far as the power to weight ratio and 4 cyl engine that has proven to be easily tuned to make almost 400 hp!
This video is so really good, that it actually convinced me to get a BMW 230i. It has everything one needs, a fun sports car which doesn't want to kill you, but has just enough power to put a smile on your face on a daily basis.
@@bj10jgopeople need to stop worrying so much about issues. Most new cars are very reliable these days. Obviously the only thing about BMW is their oil changes and parts are a bit more pricey than JDM. Just get one
I came close to buying a new 230i last month and might still buy one. I didn’t like the looks at first but they have seriously grown on me. One thing I love is it doesn’t look like any other BMW model. And if you look at the side profile, you see just a hint of muscle car in the design. The car drives very well too of course. Sporty without being too harsh, and with a luxury interior but also still kind of sporty. These might not sell well but I think the 230i is a great enthusiast-on-a-budget choice!
FYI, getting just a base 230i with a limited-slip differential requires both the M Sport Package ($3350) and the Dynamic Handling Package ($1900). And the base model starts at $37400 for 2023 (you can't order for 2022 anymore). So with those options, you're starting at $42650 + $995 destination. Heated seats/steering wheel is another $550 I think. I know all this stuff because I just ordered one myself! Mine ended up being around $46k with destination.
Congrats! How is it? I got the m230i thundernight metallic with climate package and the updated speakers which were a 1600 option. It was pretty much fully loaded but i got it for a steal at 41k
@@sinahodge3919 I haven't gotten it yet. Delayed a couple times -- right now it's looking like early September. Ordered in late May/early June. Such is life in 2022.
@@porfiriato84 Just to be clear, I didn't get the Dynamic Handling package. I decided on xDrive instead, which is available for 2023 and costs $2000. Better in the cold weather where I live. I also opted for the Premium Package (HUD, Heated Seats, Adaptive Headlights) and some appearance items (paint, trim, wheels), which make up the rest of the $46k. I did want the Limited Slip, but I also set myself a limit ahead of time to keep the MSRP close to 45k. I imagine the limited slip won't matter in the vast majority of circumstances, and it probably matters less with AWD.
Awesome review. Have been looking at this car you have me SOLD on getting this one when you said you would actually get one too. Have about 50k to spend....a loaded up 230i is perfect for me. Don't care about the extra power of the 240 or x drive (love in warm climate...rwd is perfect) Like this color a lot but will definitely be getting a different color intertior....black probably. Wish they had a regular dark gray color like the mineral gray metallic they offer in other BMW models. Thanks for the info and review!
Great review! I'm definitely in the camp that the exterior looks amazing. I've never been drawn to BMWs until this new 2 series redesign. A little salty that the 230i no longer comes with the heads up display, like the one you're testing, but I suppose we all have to make concessions these days.
I wonder how this car would feel with a tune ( ZF Trans & Motor ), Im a die hard BMW fan but also considering an S3 but not sure I wanna go back to a FWD BIas car.. In BMW's I feel like im sitting in a sports car and in the Audi/Golf R I still feel like im sitting high in a FWD car. I havent driven the latest S3 though.
Lovely car. Did BMW improve the steering feel on this? I've heard the steering here is better vs the M240i with AWD? Which of the pair feels more tossable?

You might wanna check out the 330, going from an accord to a 230 is quite a change, space wise.
I literally purchased this car the day you made the video! It's super cute, sporty and feels good!
The styling us awesome, all bmws have looked the same for 10 years. This and even the oddball new 4 series makes it stand out.
Good review! Glad to see a car review that doesn't waste half the review on features and infotainment.

what year did you get? Any quality issues you experienced?
How is the sound system in the base? Do you have any regrets now not getting any options?

I just bought a 2021 230i x drive
Melbourne red over black
Absolutely love it. It has the M package

I think it’s the best sporty luxury car on the market right now. This and the 240i
Just bought one for my wife. They can’t keep them on lots. They are selling just fine.
@@DailyMotor - Plus it’s extremely economical on gas!
Still love driving( and loving) my 2012 128i, but seriously considering this new 230.
Just bought one with Xdrive in Brooklyn Gray. Fantastic car, nice review!
I may just get a CPO 2024 in thunder night metallic by December. And I plan on keeping it for at least 6 years.
Great review of the 230i
I love mine!! everyone was like "what is thaaaaaaat" lol now few months later, they be sold out nearby

That's great to know. Even with all that 46k is not that bad of a price. I personally don't care about limited slip though.

You don’t need a loaded one for a great drive. $40k buys you a really nice one.

It's head up display.
Not heads up
Canada only gets the 230i xDrive which makes sense I suppose.
I think the 230i is one of the better vehicles that's European for the dollar amount.
Your video is the best for the new 2 series coupe ... thanks . 👍...

Good review, but those back seats looks distinctly like 40/20/40 split.
i always thought this thing is ugly as sin, but i'm warming up to it!

The 230i is a bit more tossable due to the lighter weight and rwd. M240i is more serious feeling.
I want one of these 🔥
Why do the front things open why not just remove them entirely
This reminds me of Nissan IDX concept. I kind of like this stubby little squared stance coupe. Not the camel toe grill 3 and 4 series.
This color is non-existent now days 😢
I really like it too.
I did.
The Elantra N is a better value, faster and has back seats. The m240i is a different beast
No one wants to been seen in a dam, Elantra N.
Yeah but it's also one of the ugliest cars out there
Aren’t those front wheel drive lmao
lowest "trim"? you mean "spec"? the lowest grade engine is 156hp. the trim is m sport, hence the m badging...
These head cams make me dizzy I can't watch.
Sorry! 991 Carrera S is a great car though!
The
first time watching your videos. Great work bro. Only thing missing is pop up text for specs and price
Thanks! We do have a quick pop up for basic specs, but yeah we're gonna start adding price into there too.
I did.
