      Great Video! Are these courses based on USA model only? You mention 6 digits business but in the UK prices are 1/4 of the USA market and would love to learn the UK business model if you have any specific to this local market?

    Thank you, Pye you just straightened my head out about sponsorship, it is not about money but I did not know they would block you from speaking about other products or companies and not using your camera in the phone you own. I just could not live like that as that is not who I am I have to tell it as it is. It is just like Santa in Miricle On 34th Street (the original) if they didn't have it why not help them find it somewhere else to me that makes you look better than pushing something you can not get behind. Oh by the way all the other points were great as well and great video I just got upset hearing about the contracts from sponsors.
    Be safe and thanks for the videos your one of the best out there but hey no contract I have to say your one of the best not the best on TH-cam lol.

    I think the watermark thing is not about someone else stealing the photos but the client taking them and then not paying. Especially if you show all the photos so they can choose which ones they like, before finalising the account In this context i can understand large watermarks.

  • @jordanwheatley602
    @jordanwheatley602 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Okay, regarding myth 3... I've been formally asked by a venue to use my images from a wedding to advertise on their website. I've been told that I will be credited with the images, but no promise of being referred as a preferred vendor or any payment. If they book more weddings from my images but i book no more weddings from them, I've lost out. The couple has already given the okay for their photos to be used with out checking with me first, I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place here... Want more business, but it seems easy for me to lose out here. Its a well established commercial venue by the way... I doubt they're short on business or cash, even in the current times. Advice appreciated :)

    • @slrlounge
      @slrlounge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question - Having a strong digital footprint is always a good thing when it comes to attracting clients. This is why we still recommend watermarking in the bottom corner as to not take away from the beauty of the image so that there is always a place to source your work. It is tough in your case that the couple, who I assume has unwatermarked photos, gave them the images. It isn't a scenario that we come across as much since we send the vendors watermarked images after the final images are done so they can download them on their own.

    For photography, the most annoying thing i see from others, is the obnoxious watermarks. While it will make it harder to steal an image, theft is extremely rare, but one guaranteed outcome is that the image never gets shared (enjoy having no word of mouth advertising). Overall, it only hurts your business. Sure having a non-obnoxious watermark, or better yet, no watermark at all, will mean that the cute picture of an otter that you took will rend up on /aww of reddit, but it will also mean that someone will link back to your portfolio for more images. I have seen many photographers get business that way. Their image gets popular, and people seek out more, and with a link to the source, people see your portfolio, and a handful of those viewers may eventually become customers.
    To me, a watermark gives the feeling of an upscale shop being tagged by a local gang. It is a distraction that makes the image look worse. it interferes with the subjective aspects of the image, it stops you from getting absorbed into the moment captured. For example, when you see a landscape of a unique and beautiful location, do you automatically think "John Doe photography" or some other generic logo and name that does not add to the image?

    • @Razor2048
      @Razor2048 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For more on the effects of watermarks, consider this truck: i.imgur.com/FY6jMdM.jpg
      How much did the text and logos added to it improve the value of the truck.
      Imagine you were in the market for a truck like that and were willing to buy a used one. If there were 2 trucks that were identical in all but 1 aspect. one had perfectly clean paint, and the other had the gang tags on it, which would be worth more money? Would you even consider the tagged one?
