So the answer really is going to be a personal one. The look of the Platinum is very high end and does separate the two, also the digital read out and display is of a higher quality and of course if you travel regularly having the soft protective pouch and semi rugged case to store your shaving accessories is going to be really useful.

after 20 months i got some water in mine (started to not start and neon dimmed). i never fully dunked it, but i always did wet shaves. i was about the throw it out, but i disassembled it and found some water in it. i dried it out and applied electrical spray. after this dried out (i left it apart for 2 days) i put it back together, making sure the o-ring i was seated in the groove. i found reseating the o-ring frustrating but was accomplished by pushing the 2 halves slowly together. it now works again. i'll probably just do dry shaves from now on and finish off my face with a razor. i didn't realize it does dry shaves very well.
Ive been shaving my head with a straight edge razor for 10 years. I’ve always been unhappy with Gillette type of razors as not being good enough. The straight edge felt closer to me (shaving with the grain- not against).
I got the Skull Shaver thinking it would not be as good, but I thought if it was faster and easier then it would be good enough.
Well I’ve found that this thing is AT LEAST as good as the straight edge razor (shaving with the grain). Way better than a Gillette. It is crazy fast and clean. I am impressed with the results well beyond expectations.
I also have a couple of weird bumps and creases that I feared this would not get…but it does! Also found it is quieter than most videos online reflect.
Again: I AM IMPRESSED. I wish I’d gotten one of these years ago.

With regards to the charger - any USB charger is fine. They'll all put out 5v, as it's a standard.
The amperage is irrelevant, so long as it's high enough - devices only draw as much current as they need.
platinum and gold are identical spec wise, only difference is design and accessories (oh and a wash indicator... Please!!).
the silver is the one that lacks in specs which is the battery that is half the size and you get the carver 4 head (instead of the forte 4 head found on both gold and platinum.
my opinion definitely spend the extra going from silver too gold, this can be as little as £10 more if you choose the subscription package (which can be cancelled anytime as its just for a 3 monthly deliver on heads)
and I would most definitely avoid wasting money on the platinum..
however just for information, I also have one of the original Bald Eagles (now in the draw) with all accessories and I can tell you the wash stand for that does not accept the pitbull as I tried and the pitbull Is just too big to get in, but I never used it anyway so I'm not worried.
I have an no name brand one, cost me £35 and its fantastic lol had it six months shave two to three times a week
Looks like a great piece of kit ! I like the way its been styled but the real test is does it do what it ways on the tin. Extremely well presented, would be a fantastic gift for some lucky lad (or lass). Judging by your results its lived up to its promise ! I read bad reviews and good ones.. I went with the 50$ one been 4 days no shipping label.. i have alopeccia so i hated sitting and shaving my head and making messes or taking too long.. if it works as it should then I’ll be happy. The design is cool and looks simple. Id always cut my ears when I shaved my head with my other conventional shaver

Avoid mate. I've had two Remingtons RX-5's in a year. Both started to stutter after 10-12 shaves, despite cleaning and lubricating. Useless bit of kit, don't waste your money on them. Cheap but I'm not very cheerful.

Well, the main reason which would make me choose the platinum over the gold is the blades quality. Since you have been using the gold for the past couple of years, was there a clear difference when you tried the platinum in terms of close shaving and noticed better quality results? If this was noticeably different, I would then go with the platinum due to more sharper/closer blades, otherwise I’ll just stick to the gold as I’m not very interested with the rest if other features, blades are on the top to me… over to you mike, could you please assist me with my choice?
get the cheaper head and try the standard blades, you might love them. It really is trial and error. I prefer the courser blades for a faster cut, but there were on occasions some razor burn due to it being a bit too close for my skin. the baron seems to take a little longer, but won't give me any rash

The cheaper gold and platinum are almost identical in performance. I say get the Gold and order the rinse stand separately and you will have all you need and cheaper

I bought the Gold and absolutely love it. I’ve had it 2 weeks now and never charged it and use it everyday, it still has 60%. For me this is as good as a shave. And I do actually have hair but have shaved my head for over 20 years

I don’t think the platinum is worth the money. All three use the same blades and the same motor. The need to have one version for around $100 bucks or so and clean up.

thanks for the compliment, sadly i can't really comment on that as i don't have those type of things to consider, but i might suggest using the Baron blade as it isn't as close and is really well suited to sensitive skin or i would think any differences in skin depth / height

Hello great review. I found the a place selling the platinum version for a very good deal. You review a lot of products. Is there any other brands that are better. From what I have seen the pitbull looks great but I have seen a few other brands that also look good. From your opinion is the pitbull still the best choice?
i haven't found anything better overall, some are cheaper or have more attachments included etc etc, but few have the options to change blade types and heads and all the other stuff that makes up an ecosystem, a lot of the others on the market are just cheap chinese clones rebadged to maximise profits

I used the Gold for the first time today. Maybe it's because I'm new to the item, but that thing gave me one hell of a razor burn on the back of my neck. I did a wet shave with Bee Bald.
yeah the first few shaves will be the blades bedding in and also your skin getting used to it, i had the same (i do with all shavers and razors) it is very common. Few days and it will be much better. I can use mine now before going out or filming and be pretty confident my neck won't look sunburnt
Had my for about the same amount of time. It still keeps knicking my the back of my neck. I might buy the $44 blade for sensitive skin.

I ended up giving it to my buddy for free he loves the thing. I just went and started wet shaving my head, no problems on the neck at all. Using a Gillette cartridge razor now.
Coming across the video a little later than most.. I really enjoyed the video. My decision is really between the gold and silver as I really don’t want to spent the $ on the top of the line. Just getting into this type of product. I have always just used a trimmer set on zero, but looking to take the next step.. any advice on helping to make a decision would be great. How often do the blades need to be replaced? I was thinking of using the product every 2-3 days..(if that helps). Thanks in advance for your assistance
it really depends on the hair and skin types, the actual motor and unit is pretty much the same apart from the LCD display and battery life, the heads are the challenge, the factory fitted one is the medium and i prefer the Baron as it is not as close and is guaranteed for me to not get any razer burn, your skin type and bread will likely be different, but try it and see, and i have also done a video that helps to keep blades lasting much longer, that is out soon

I just got mine and I love it but the USB charger not the cable gets so damn hot. Yesterday when I charge it for the first time after about 5 mins or so I checked and it was fully charge went from 89 to 100. So I unplugged it. The charger was hot as hell so this really scares me. I have never had or seen a USB charger get so hot.
the USB charger or the cable? it shouldn't get that hot unless there is resistance in which case check the cables are fully inserted and that the charger is not over powered
@@mikesunboxing I will test it again tomorrow but the charger that plugs into the wall was the part that got very hot. Yesterday I used my computer to charge it. It must be using fast charging because it charges fast.
I use it again and it was warm not hot to the touch. My guess is Skull Shaver must be using some kind of fast charging. I will just stick around while charging it.

moon shaver seems a little closer, but the clean up is harder so for me prefer the skull shaver

You font get a razor dmooth dhave with a pitbull,,,you get zebra stripes...,,use a braun 9 or a razor dhave
Pitbull doesn't shave as close as a blade but then again nothing but a blade does. Had lower end model for 4 years with the same blades n it's been fine. Getting the gold because the battery is done in. Always used shave lotion such as electric shave n a drop of soap in the tank w the razor run a minute for cleaning.
