JETTY FISHING: Pumping
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 21 เม.ย. 2024
- If you want to try something fun and challenging, try this #adventure. We went to the coast and walked out to the sandy muddy flats to dig and pump #SandShrimp for bait. We got enough to last for a couple days and moved on to the Jetty. We hiked along the Rock outcropping that jets into the ocean in Newport Oregon #fishing for rock fish, bottom fish, ling cod, sea bass, kelp greenling and crab or what ever would bite. We got a few fish to bite and had a great time breathing in the fresh air.

It was a great episode, Brian. Love that you are willing to go the distance to bring us various methods and styles of fishing.
Thanks Jeff! I try to have some variety even when I don’t have it figured out.
Always love going out there and fishing
It’s actually a really tricky and dangerous fishery!!
This was a blast 🎉🎉 I’m already wanting to go again!!
Let plan a trip to the willamette for springer
We all struggle at times. Just being out is a win.
That’s a really good point!! Thanks
I would definitely be busting my ass trying to climb on the rock, if you need to borrow a pump I have two of them. Soft baits are good at times. Keep your line tie and your power dry. Stay fishing 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Hey Pistol!!! 🔫
Good to hear from you. Hope you are doing good. 😊
Walking on rock jetties might be the most hazardous type of fishing done in the Pacific N.W.! Many a person has been injured walking out on those rocks. I just watched a video of Righteous River Fishing Oregon where he fished the rocks at Newport and limited on bass and lingcod, good ones, too. Being a Washington guy, ive never fished Newport, just mostly the South Jetty at Westport. You've probably seen his video, but maybe you can pick up something to help you. Earlier, i mentioned TheBite to you as a channel that has done really well there at Newport. I saw them catch greenling, rockfish, cabazon, and lingcod, all of nice size, in the same trip. I feel like your getting closer to having that type of day! I used to "pop" sand shrimp for my steelhead fishing as well as Jetty and surf fishing. That "pump" style tube he used is what I use for sand shrimp. The type you have is the type I use for razor clams, although I used that classic narrow shovel until I woke up realizing I was an old man! Hahaa! I discovered places I wouldn't use because I'd sink too badly. I know you feel me there! Brian, love your channel, your enthusiasm, your attitude, it's all going to make your channel grow. I look forward to all your videos, it adds so much of a challenge to whatever fishery you do. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!
William, you got that right about being dangerous. No sooner did I sign off, I slipped down at rock and into a hole in the boulders. Luckily, I didn’t get hurt other than my pride. It really sucks when you have to toss your fishing rods up against rocks so you don’t break them. Definitely true about getting close to having a banner day. I’m working on it and since it hasn’t come easy it’s going to be so much more worth it when I get there.
I think I look forward to reading your comments as much as you look forward to watching the videos I put out, lol thank you brother
Maybe some stretchy string around your sand shrimp might keep it on longer along with 2 hooks rigs?
That’s good suggestions! Next time
Made my own shrimp pumps. They work awesome. Thanks Home Dept. Lol
Depo. I hate autocorrect. Lol
I thought about it but found a killer deal on one that I know works well
I used to pack everything in one bag as well but now I have a seperate bag for each type of fishing i do the only bag that gets adjusted is my salmon/steelhead bag usually I have lighter weights for steelhead season and heavier weights for salmon season and bigger bobbers but trout, bass and fly fishing all have separate bags
It’s nice to have the right size weights and terminal tackle so you don’t have to sort through the wrong sizes to get what you need. The downside is to really fish efficiently. You need to have a lot of duplicates for each bag.
Thanks for watching Kyle, I noticed you guys look like you’re closed. What’s going on there with the construction?
@@AutomagicAdventures we're not closed the stores still open normal hours, there redoing the lines from the tank to the pumps. DEQ passed a new requirement basically and we had to remove our steel lines and replace with fiberglass lines. But yeah definitely is hard to carry all of my steelhead and salmon gear! Learned my lesson the hard way on that and ripped the cartilage in my chest this fall trying to put swing my back pack on and it was like a month of recovery time lol
@@OregonFishingAdventures that explains the fences and tore up ground
@@AutomagicAdventures yeah probably another 3-4 weeks and the gas station will be going again but if u need anything in the store come say here I'm still here
Hmmm you would think that you would want a bait. That your buddy makes with infused sand shrimp.
Aren’t you out shaking your grass skirt?
👍💔
Thank you
Stretchy thread keeps your bait
That stuff sure does work but really hard to re do bait
Do you mind sharing the spot where you were pumping those sand shrimp?
It’s on the south side of the bay. Kinda by the aquarium, I think.
It’s one of those things where I know where it’s at, but don’t know how to explain where it’s at
