Being a super new fan of the band- like within the last 2 weeks! I've spent the last 36 hrs going down the youtube/wiki/google rabbit hole listening and learning all I can- its great to finally hear Tobias do an interview as himself without a mask muffling his words. My thing is, how the fuck did I miss the last decade of this awesome band!?
Tobias is kind of the anti star...yes, he's a Star and a great songwriter, love the music...BUT dude just gets it. Seriously humble Rock N Roll fan. Only band in the past 15 years that I am seriously passionate about. Being the HUGE KISS that I am, Ghost has a great parallel for this generation :)
He's still not really a 'star' by American standards. He could walk around any major American city and not be recognized by anyone except a few rabid Ghost fans here and there.
Excellent interview. I was at the Fillmore show and did the meet and greet. Told me he liked my hair..Lol. Plan on seeing them every time they're in the area. He's a great guy and puts on a great show. Keep up the awesome work Tobias and I was serious about inviting you to my wedding.
I was at that show too on the mezzanine. Killer show. My first time seeing them live. Definitely my favorite band right now. You’re lucky you got to meet him. He’s a genius.

That was my first time seeing them live as well, I've been a fan since "Infestissumam", so seeing them live was something I was looking forward to for a while, considering "Meliora" is one of my favorite metal records since it came out. Ghost, in my opinion gets better with every album.
I like the way he describes Cardi C being watched over by Papa Nil and he has to wait and see if the Cardinal will prove himself worthy of the title Papa E 4. Like he doesn't know and is waiting to find out with the rest of us. 😆

Are you sure about that? If you have ever seen a interview with A Nameless Ghoul then you probably have heard his voice out.. Tobias did those interviews in Ghoul wardrobe.. At least it sounded like him to me, so I'm pretty sure of this..
I love Tobias for his intellect and demeanor, and most importantly, for creating Ghost, but he’s wanting a very accessible, mainstream sound. A lot of people will take that as a band selling out. I don’t care for ‘Rats’, but I really like ‘Faith’. I really hope they can keep the sound I’ve always loved Ghost for.

I was there that night! Amazing show! The new songs sound great and I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the new record. We're coming out next time for sure, but the Filmore was very intimate, it probably won't be so intimate next time, probably DTE or something, but I hope we can see Ghost again in such an up close and personal experience.
Tobias is intelligent. He understands that you not only captivate the audience you have with a new character but you get new listeners aswell. madonna did it, Cher's done it.. They all grew big!

It's like that with any business though... the boss who has the idea, puts the entire thing together and orchestrates the whole business eventually reaps the benefits. Those who work for other people earn less... simple. Unless the Ghouls are literally writing 100% of the parts they play on the album, they're not going to get full share, because as far as I know, Tobias writes the VAST majority of the music, and has other musicians/Ghouls record the tracks of the instruments he doesn't feel he can play well enough (I gather he can play guitar very well, but also keyboards, bass and I believe drums). He's not a Peter Tägtgren who plays 99% of what you hear on the album, but Pain will be in a similar situation: the band members know that Peter is Pain, and they are playing Peter's work as Pain live, as hired musicians. The whole controversy as far as I gather was Forge not making this clear to people, and possibly not giving financial credit for other people's musical contributions. If one wants to be the boss, and earn all the money, you have to work FUCKING hard. I'm currently working in a brand new company, and I won't ever be moaning that the three bosses make triple what I make yearly, because the amount of work they have put in is absolutely insane... I've chipped in here and there, but I'm paid to do the monkey work. In my band, my bandmate and I have a solid agreement to split all profits 50/50, and credits go to whoever wrote the musical part. Anyone else we hire to play on stage is a hired hand, and will be credited and paid as a hired musician, but unless they're invited into the studio to contribute ideas, they remain external, despite being part of the image of the band. We don't own their image, persona and style, in the same way they don't own any part of the band, and are paid to play live, end of. But yeah, it's sure a shame Thobias didn't make that clear... I'd be gutted to be part of a band thinking I was actually part of it, only to find I'm a live session musician. Not a mistake my band will be making!
Corvid yeah, i know, how the world works in wich we live. But the Thing is, there are many other Bands with only one or two people writing all the music but still its a band...that feeling is just gone...different people different taste
Tobias has certainly asserted himself as the guy. Watching these latest live shows makes me want the 2017 ghouls back.That band had energy and seemed to really enjoy playing.These ghouls arent as lively except the possible exception of the lead guitarist Ghoul. Tobias should get more but I guarantee the others will not be hurting for money if they pull off an 18 month tour together.
Are you sure this is Tobias aka Papa I, II, II and Cardinal Copia? I mean, all the characters historically sounded the same, same voice, same accent, but this guy speaks with american accent and a completely different voice.
Alejandro Sarco - they’re originally from Sweden and the characters (Papa I , II , III and Cardinal Copia) are based around Latin culture hence the Latin accent all of the characters have . This interview is just Tobias being himself instead of playing the role of Papa etc
I would have to say no. Some have very pronounced swedish accent. In school we learn british english so some sound more british. But tv, movies and music have a bit impact as well.

Because there was a magic with the original members that is lost when you put others in their place, right? Then you should know how and why we feel the way we do about you firing the powerhouse of a band that, with you, was Ghost for all those years. I suspect Tobias had a realization of the parallel of that and his own recent controversy midway through that sentence, that realization being the reason for his pause.
DrRosenpenis The difference is that Kiss always had their actual members recording the parts on the albums. Gene is the bass player, Paul the lead vox and guitar, Ace on guitar, and Pete on the drums. Forge has always recorded most of the parts on Ghost albums by himself, so it really is his thing. The live sound, on the other hand, sounds somewhat different, especially now that they've stopped using backing tracks for vocal harmonies live.
Christopher Schott yessir, that’s how it’s done. Dave Grohl does it as well, and the band Boston did the same thing, Tom Schulz played everything except for obviously vocals.
I like how Forge pretends he's not Cardinal Copia and all the past incarnations of Papa. If he's not the lead singer, then what is he? The keyboardist? Cuz he's not playing any of the guitars and certainly not drums, horn or kuzoo lol
