not to spoil anything aside from a single item from the dlc and also, i dont know if you got it or not but especially considering the dlc easily has the best heavy armor in the gaolkinght and the verdigris set but there is a talisman you can find really early on after beating the boss at castle ensis literally just to the left of the first grace through a teleporter that is called the verdigris disc talisman that gives you more defense for the more weight you have on yourself so if you use the heaviest set and get to the near max of weight with high endurance to load down your load past 50 at least, you start getting progressivly more defense on top of it all nevermind that there is a greatshield dragoncrest talisman for all elemental types including for the pearldrake, all elemental dmg types option.
To clarify the talisman doesn't increase defense the heavier your equip load, it provides ~15% damage mitigation when your equip load is Heavy but it doesn't scale based on the actual weight value itself.
In an alternate universe, streamers of Elden Ring had always focused on defense builds and the discovery of damage buffing glass cannons was this video.
Max0r minmaxxed for depth and density. Hunter is built for insane length. How he manages to cut all this fucking footage into these engaging and consistently paced videos is beyond me.
Fun fact, Dragon Barrow in particular has a higher scaling level than Farum Azula. So yes, that Putrid Avatar is *very* much an endgame threat. Close to the one in Haligtree.
I so get that. I'm very thankful for the fact """easy farm"""" bosses like the Dragon Barrow Night Cav, Greyoll and Greyll donate so many runes to a lot of my low level twinks to make anything before the capitol a free kill.

Man that is such a valid point lol 😂 I was having trouble with dancing lion last night so I decided fuk it I’m being a tank. Went and swapped some armour around, used all my defensive talismans and my physik tear and beat dancing lion on my next try.
Using the dragoncrest great shield talisman and the opaline talisman plus opaline physick tear really makes a difference. I went from using my minmaxed damage setup to just a few defensive items which is letting me really enjoy the dlc and tank a few hits
I would say that youtubers like Gino are to blame partially for the fact that nobody uses defensive items given that every build run other then this one has been entirely dedicated to maximizing damage
It’s actually insane how much of a difference the defensive items make in the DLC, especially at the start when you have no Scadutree blessings. The Dragoncrest great shield talisman hasn’t left my characters first talisman slot since I got to the DLC

Great for the start of the DLC. Most people are ignoring the scad upgrades then complaining it’s too difficult. Once you get past 10 or so Scads the DLC is much smoother, then at 20 you’re chilling easily. At least on ng 4 or so.
That was basically the strat I used to solo Malenia my first time. Not quite as crazy with defense but tank up and trap her in a corner and spam wild strikes with a cold great stars for the skill less win.
Been watching a lot of your build videos and have been absolutely mind blown. Do you plan on taking this build or any of the past ones to the DLC? Would love to see it.
Some attacks/spells (such as Noble Presence) always knock human entities over, regardless of buffs. That's why even with Ironjar, Godskin Noble was still able to knock you down. This run is wild but yeah it does take a loooooot longer to setup. Edit: 2:46:30 this kinda looks, exactly how I beat Malenia on my first playthrough, except I think I was using a rusted anchor because that was my only +25 weapon (because I am stubborn and I refused to burn the Erdtree until I had all the great runes, meaning I killed Malenia before Godskin Duo.) I think I cranked damage a little bit more, I had a bit more of a balanced setup rather than the full tank, and we did get there, *eventually* but it was very RNG, like if waterfowl hit both me and the mimic too many times I'd run out of FP before we could kill her. Sometimes the mimic would die to the Scarlet Ionia in phase 2 and then I wouldn't be able to out-sustain her. There's a lot more variance because it doesn't just depend on one AI's decisions, but two. As what the Mimic decides to do can also be a big factor. Edit 2: I am so glad, that the DLC included +3 variants of the elemental greatshields. They're even relatively easy to find.
This, but with winged tear. You could have this defense with light roll- if not light then medium, but you could probably switch one piece of armor and get it light
2:59:29 Small mistake, it is not lightning but holy, "Lord's Divine Fort +60% Holy Defense". Great vid and epic editing, thanks a lot! Have an awesome day/night wherever you are! :)
The problem with Maliketh is that I'm pretty confident in saying that the DoT effect stacks with itself, possibly without limits (this is the part that I'm not 100% sure about). In boss vs. boss videos Maliketh is one of the other bosses who typically does well because of this, there are videos where you see boss health bars melting in f**king SECONDS because of the DoT stacks. This is one of the reasons that I'm not a fan of the fight, you can get killed before you can react because of this DoT effect.
You forgot to try Malenias great rune for the additional healing.. and you also couldve tried black flame protection for the extra lols(Edit, you did at the end the flame protection)
greatshield builds are easier not only to setup, but to use in boss fight too. i think they are very similar in nature though, and most of the aspects of this build would be in the best greatshield build
I’m only an hour or so in, but in the future I’d recommend Vow of the Indomitable for any grab attacks, also 30 frames of immunity that is pretty spammable is just generally nice.

What a coincidence, I was already thinking of doing something similar. Not as crazy as this, was gonna go for more of a paladin vibe but Im def taking notes here
As great as this run is, it really does highlight how horrible FromSofts idea of buffing is. It's always the most obtuse and inconvenient thing in the game. Typically revolving around 30 seconds or less timers before having to rebuff over and over. I wish they'd actually innovate their buffs through combat. Should be more tied to talismans and equipment. Like blocking multiple hits with certain shields grants health regen. Successfully dodge-rolling granting stamina regen tied to a talisman. Actions that are tied to the natural flow of combat rather than having to break to use a consumable or cast a buff.
I wonder if with the insane defense and regen, using the talisman that raises all defense stats by 30 when youre at 100% health and just building around never taking a hit below 100% would be even better. Like using the best armourset against a certain boss and all the buffs and just be at learly 100 resistance on most stats that are relevant.
watching you bully that leyndell crucible knight was so, so good lol edited to add: with mimic, if you equip the lump of flesh, it will use it to heal itself without depleting your supply, and never procs poison on itself. it will also use warming or frenzy stones, so if you choose the frenzy ending, you and mimic can stand in the frenzy stone and heal without healing the boss. it will also use throwing weapons, including pots, without depleting your supply one strat with mimic is to equip shabriri's woe, wait for mimic to pull aggro, then swap to a diff talisman when it's safe, and cast spells from range. when you have the boss's attention, simply block with a shield (i like jellyfish shield for a caster build, since it has decent damage negation and the aow buff applies to spell damage) until mimic gets back in the fight. mimic will also help you proc status, and has access to all the spells you've equipped, with no mana cost. back at launch, the mimic ai was so overtuned it could solo everything in the game if you simply thought out the loadout. since they nerfed it, it does some goofy stuff, like healing when it doesn't need to, or not healing when it really should, and you have to be selective about what options you give it, since it will use everything you have equipped on your character when you summon it. in the dlc on my first playthrough, not knowing what damage type any of the bosses were weak against, i took a fairly balanced set of spells, which sucked in that mimic would use all of them at random. and i've found that there are some fights where mimic is suboptimal. for godskin duo, if you have a solid one-cycle strat, just sleep them and do that, because mimic will wake them up and blow it all to hell. you also have to be careful with mimic in the malenia fight, because she'll heal herself off of it unless you're chunking her down fast enough. i also found it wasn't worth it to summon mimic for consort radahn for any build other than full tank mode: he might wail on mimic for a minute, but the second you hit him, he cancels out of the combo chain and switches to you, and mimic will almost always die to the meteor attack, anyway. placidusax is similar with his flying attack at phase transition, with the added problem that mimic will spend more time running around the arena than hitting the boss. fire giant's arena is also a clown show
I'm really curious how this build would hold up in PvP, I wouldn't be surprised even the insane DPS from 3 man ganks might not be enough to do in tankle. Combined with AoWs that give movement it seems like it could be worth a shot. (Of course, running away and letting the buffs run out is the smart and correct play, but most ganks from what I've seen shamelessly spam until you or they die because they know how insane the damage in this game is.)

A really easy way to ‘no hit’ on perfumers is to use sorcery or incantation - it’s kinda sleazy, but it works
The bosses were throwing everything they had at him and he was like "your attempts at hurting me are quite amusing "
watching you bully that leyndell crucible knight was so, so good lol
edited to add: with mimic, if you equip the lump of flesh, it will use it to heal itself without depleting your supply, and never procs poison on itself. it will also use warming or frenzy stones, so if you choose the frenzy ending, you and mimic can stand in the frenzy stone and heal without healing the boss. it will also use throwing weapons, including pots, without depleting your supply
one strat with mimic is to equip shabriri's woe, wait for mimic to pull aggro, then swap to a diff talisman when it's safe, and cast spells from range. when you have the boss's attention, simply block with a shield (i like jellyfish shield for a caster build, since it has decent damage negation and the aow buff applies to spell damage) until mimic gets back in the fight. mimic will also help you proc status, and has access to all the spells you've equipped, with no mana cost.
back at launch, the mimic ai was so overtuned it could solo everything in the game if you simply thought out the loadout. since they nerfed it, it does some goofy stuff, like healing when it doesn't need to, or not healing when it really should, and you have to be selective about what options you give it, since it will use everything you have equipped on your character when you summon it. in the dlc on my first playthrough, not knowing what damage type any of the bosses were weak against, i took a fairly balanced set of spells, which sucked in that mimic would use all of them at random.
and i've found that there are some fights where mimic is suboptimal. for godskin duo, if you have a solid one-cycle strat, just sleep them and do that, because mimic will wake them up and blow it all to hell. you also have to be careful with mimic in the malenia fight, because she'll heal herself off of it unless you're chunking her down fast enough. i also found it wasn't worth it to summon mimic for consort radahn for any build other than full tank mode: he might wail on mimic for a minute, but the second you hit him, he cancels out of the combo chain and switches to you, and mimic will almost always die to the meteor attack, anyway. placidusax is similar with his flying attack at phase transition, with the added problem that mimic will spend more time running around the arena than hitting the boss. fire giant's arena is also a clown show
Bro, I’m amazed that no one suggested the laser from the full grown falling star beast 😔
18:00 For the rot avatar hug and circle and roll when they butt slam and you'll never get hit
Gino looks like he could be a secret lovechild between Brad Pitt and Matt Damon.
You Def got to try this on the dlc boss the attacks are stronger and they have more poise.
The boss music in Godrick fight wasn't for you. It was for Godrick himself. You were there to remind him who's the boss😂
Try the rotten greataxe when you get it. Big damage poise and rot for a tank build like this
Certified all hit run
I really wanna see Gino play through the DLC with this very character
I Got som Challenge ideas if you ever need Them
1. Axe for godrick
2. Radahn roleplay
3. Melania roleplay
Battle with Maliketh is what bosses must be feeling like with players constantly dodge rolling all around the arena, and bosses just can't hit them 😅
I need to finish the dlc so I don't get spoiled, and I can get back to watching you, Bjorn, and Bushy normally.
Gotta love Loretta missing 75% of her attacks lol
This reminds me of that hilarious anime named "I don't want to get hurt, so I'll max out my defense "
Yoo love the fresh haircut!!
In the final boss fight in the dlc I went for an overloaded tanking build and it worked pretty well surprisingly 😂
