  • Just received my new Bear Archery Cruzer G2 RTH that I ordered on Amazon.com. Decided to give it a quick review on how it came out of the box, and look at shooting a few arrows. Overall I am very happy with the bow and its performance.

    I just order it about 5 minutes ago from Amazon; I had it in my cart for weeks, and I've been watching reviews all morning (for a couple of hours)

    I have the first gen Cruzer. I have it set to 61 lb draw weight, 29 inch draw length, whisker biscuit, Joker 4 pin sight, etc.
    I use Blackout X5 Hunter arrows w/4 inch vane. I like how I didn't spend $1000 for a bow and more for accessories.

    Bought this same bow just recently, and just took it today to a local archery store to get the sights adjusted and got to test it out for the first time. Really liking the feel of it and I'm excited to spend more time practicing and getting better at using it.

      Mine will be delivered next Tuesday. Since you're a couple of months ahead of me, what do you think of it now?

    • @DMKelly20
      @DMKelly20 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Anduin-oy5ij I'm enjoying it quite a bit! Took it in this week to get it checked on, since I've put in over 100 shots with it already. It's a good, really solid bow. If you have an archery shop near you, swing by there to have them get it set up and prepped for you, but I think you'll really enjoy it.

      @@DMKelly20 Thanks for the info. Did you end up doing any upgrades to it?

    • @DMKelly20
      @DMKelly20 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Anduin-oy5ij Not at this point. I've bought some additional accessories (like a pair of bow releases, one as a primary and one as a backup), a friend of mine who's also into archery gave me his old stabilizer before I discovered that mine came with one (it was just in a hidden little compartment at the bottom of the box), so now I have a pair of them in case I need it, and I've gotten a number of arrows. But apart from having to lessen the draw weight (because it arrived via Amazon set at the max weight of 70 pounds), I haven't really had to tweak it. It arrived in really great shape and does exactly what I want it to do.

    Got my daughter one last year and she loves it. Very good bow for the money and just a good bow anyway , I liked it so much I bought a bear Bear had been making bows a long time and there bows shoot fine Just remember what Fred Bear did the bow is just a tool and your shooting a knife make your shot count to many people are hung up on expensive bows and adds about all the big 4 brands convincing you you won’t hunt good unless you have a 1400 bow and $300 arrows to have a good hunt or win a tournament. I was a teenager in the woods with a browning recurve and homemade arrows stalking deer and killing elk in northern Arizona with bear 2 blade broadheads. Stick with practice and simple equipment Fred bear knew how to hunt.

    Thanks for the review. How are the sights adjusted? Also, did it come with an attachable quiver ?
    Every time that target knocked over, I kept saying, "stabilize that target!" Geeze, the running back and forth was annoyingly insane.

    Nice job. Bet that target always falling backwards was a pain. What I did was make a sawhorse (like a carpenter uses) and suspend my target from it. All the target does now is swing backward and forward.

    The arrows aren’t meant for a compound bow because the arrow knocks when you clip it on the bow string the fletchs that are the same colour would be vertical when they should be horizontal

    • @bltefft
      @bltefft 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily. After nocking the arrow, you can spin the shaft to align the vanes/feathers any way you want them to be. I shoot plastic vanes in my compounds and feathers from my longbows.

    • @thomasdeadder9475

    Just ordered mine for the season. I haven't shot in years, and previously it was all target shooting as a hobby. Any recommendations for hunting? Never used a bow to hunt before.

    • @suburbanoutdoorsman
      @suburbanoutdoorsman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Practice your shooting and know your comfort range and don't shoot outside of that (if you can hit the mark with confidence at 40 yards, don't take the 50 yard shot if you haven't practiced). Also one thing I have started doing, is remember shooting at a target vs live game is different. Your adrenaline will be a bit higher lol. A way to simulate this somewhat is do some jumping jacks, or run a round a little and then while you are still pumped up practice your shots.

      @suburbanoutdoorsman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I would. I am not an extremely experienced archer but for me it was definitely a great bow out of the box, especially for those with less experience. Also with some feedback from some more experienced friends they agreed it would be a great bow for long term use and something I can hopefully pass down to my sons as they get older

    • @suburbanoutdoorsman
      @suburbanoutdoorsman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never owned that one to say for sure, but I have heard good things about Hoyt. They do however usually come with a bit higher of a price tag. I think the one you are looking at is around the $600 maybe? vs this one was about $350, so I think budget and price range willing to spend in will make a difference on that as well.

    • @suburbanoutdoorsman
      @suburbanoutdoorsman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      depending on the type of arrow/broadhead using and distance you are shooting from, you can pretty much take down any big game in North America with this bow.

    • @88kar88
      @88kar88 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To add to what Suburban Outdoorsman said earlier.
      you shouldn't need much more than 40 lbs to take down most game, maybe 50-55 for things like elk or bear, but your arrow head will play a big factor in this. There isnt really a need to go to 70 lbs in North America.
