In this third part of my EBC series, I'm sharing what it's really like to trek solo through the breathtaking Himalayas of Nepal. I'll spill the beans on the ups and downs of going guideless, sharing the good, the bad, and the unexpected.
From Dingboche to Lobuche, I'll take you through the challenges I faced, like surprise snowstorms and struggling to find a place to sleep. Then, it's off to Gorakshep and finally, the moment I’ve been waiting for: Everest Base Camp.
So get ready for some jaw-dropping views of Nepal, along with some honest talk about the trials of trekking solo, and an up-close look at the reality of exploring one of the world's most iconic trekking destinations without a guide. This is the epic finale you won't want to miss!

Congratulations on making it successfully to EBC without guide / porter. Kudos & huge respect!
Everest is big & fantastic but when the see the majestic K2 you forget everything else.
K2 is mindblowing!! 💚
Can’t wait to see it with my own eyes 🥹💛
@@floragonning Hopefully i will join you on the K2-BC trek one day. Its mindblowing!!
@@floragonning didn't you went to K2 base camp?
Yes everything you have is mindblowing. You are the best country in world.
We really liked this vlog, and those maps are super flimsy and easy to rip so don't beat yourself up to bad. Our ABC map must have had 1,000 rips in it by the time we finished. So glad you guys made it, truly shows the saga your body goes through to make up there. Well done. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing video. You brilliantly convey the atmosphere of the trek.
Just a side note: Did the EBC and 3 passes trek with my teenage kids in late March 24 and have to say that, if you have some experience hiking the Alps and perhaps some off the beaten track places, hiking the EBC without a guide is a whole lot easier as you always find a room, a table in the dining hall (except Gorak Shep) and navigation is really not an issue just using your phone with any offline map or a paper map with a compass. Nevertheless, hiring a guide is totally fine, no shame in doing that. Especially in a bigger group it’s not going to impact your overall budget too much anyway and learning more about the local culture might be just worth it.
Wow, very impressive! Completely agree about the guide thing! 👏
Kudos to you! You have earned memories of a lifetime. And thanks for taking us along.
Congrats to both of you!. Priceless achievement indeed 🏁
Thanks Flora for this series, being so close to ECB and my comfort zone, I guess this series is what I needed to explore and travel a bit. Loved it
Amazing! Congratulations to the both of you ❤. I’ve recently did the ABC trek and I’ve been relieving that adventure through your vlog. Thank you for sharing !
Well done to both of you! I've watched many EBC vlogs, but yours was all the more impressive by the extra challenges you set yourselves. The scenery is spectacular, and it was lovely to see the snow-covered version at the end. A small grumble - I just wish they hadn't put that ugly metal sign covering the iconic EBC rock!
Wow. I enjoyed seeing this. ❤ My dream to be once in their. Greetings from Finland ❤
woww again, its so surreal to see it through screens while the views were out of the world what kept me hooked is your will and outlook throughout this whole series man this was good and refreshing to watch can't wait for more of your cinematography and adventures !!
Bravo!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us!!

Great vlog! I've had the pleasure of watching almost all of your videos. Your cinematography skills are impressive! I was wondering, are you and Oskar a couple or just travel companions? Either way, both if you are fantastic on camera, and I love following your adventures together!

Fantastic vlog, enjoyed the videos very much 😊 congratulations!
By the way I thought from now quide is composery?🤔 perhaps not, it's nice to have a choice. Thinking now to go to Nepal again!!
Hi, it’s a wonderful trip, thanks for sharing it with us, with your experiences, feeling and thoughts.
I appreciate your way of doing it without a porter and without a guide. And also the extra route as well.
Great challenge and the freedom of doing whatever you want and when.☺️ great that you‘d been talking about the perspect of hireing a guide and porters.
Why you didn’t have a restday in Dingboche?
A little tip at the end😉 you might will have hiking/trekking shoes at your next trip? It will keep your feet’s warm in the snow, you will have a better handling on the ground as well and protection. Just as a little tip:)
All in all thank you, sharing it with us😁
thanks for taking us on one hell of a ride all the way to EBC. Beautifully shot cinematic vlog . Hats off for finishing the trek without a flight porter and guide.
Thank you so much! 😊
Thank you very much for creating this documentary of your hike. I am looking at a non flight in and out trip and your footage (🫢) of the Kathmandu to trail was ideal..and the EBC journey 👍👍👍 Great work, congratulations on making the choices you did and seeing it through. Cheers!
That's Wonderful 👍
Thank you for these videos. What time of year did you go? You seemed to have just the most spectacular weather. X
U guys r really amazing and strong ❤❤❤❤flora u r so nice n i can feel u❤❤
Absolutely loved this adventure. There’s no way I can do it alone so will need a guide myself but very inspired by this!
Which I totally get! Kudos you you anyway!! 👏
honestly the best EBC vlog I’ve seen. the story was really catchy ☺️ much love from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
Thanks, I appreciate you kind words 💛✨
Amazing ❤ Love From India 🇮🇳
Very very inspirational ❤
I really love your content, great job and yes nothing is impossible
Keep going keep growing
Love from India
Thank you so much for watching, lots of love back🙏✨💛
Wow awesome 👍
Waiting for your video ❤
Fantastic achievement. Just returned from EBC so were probably on the trail at the same time! How did the return to lobuche go? are you planning a final video? Our trip stayed overnight @ EBC- looking back there was absolutely no way we could physically have trekked Lobuche-EBC and back in one day. I definitely wouldn't recommend it (but also wouldn't recommend staying at Gorak Shep either as it looked pretty grim when we passed)
6:44 amazing and yeah you did it 💪🏻
Wow. Very beautiful 😍
How you color grade your videos? Do you used any luts?
Watching your videos from Pakistan 💚
love your videos😍😍😍🥰
WoW ❤
6:09 beautiful shot
Wow. Wonderful narration. Music is so apt. I felt walked besides both of you. Congratulations 🎉…& my take away is stay at lobuche… maybe for 3 nights as I wish to go to kala patthar too. !
One query. How long did it take u to reach back to lobuche
thats fantastic you had the chance to meet Nims! very lucky!
super lucky indeed!
Like to see how you made it back to lobuche❤❤❤
Flora, I have really enjoyed watching your videos, great cinematography and narration. I've booked to go to Nepal to do a trek in October. I'm trying to decide whether to do the two passes or Annapurna Circuit. I am leaning towards the two passes which includes the EBC as it looks spectacular. I noticed that you were wearing hiking shoes rather than boots - which do you recommend? and didn't seem to be wearing thick jackets. Did you not feel cold up there? Looking forwards to watching more of your adventures.
I did the Annapurna circuit 2 years back and I loved that trek too! The nice thing about that one is that it’s not an out/back route, but a circle. So each day you get to see something new! Another plus of Annapurna is that is was less crowded. However if you do that one I def recommend starting in Besisahar and doing the entire trek until Nayapul! Of course EBC is also awesome and def if you include 2 passes. You’re gonna have a great time no matter which one you choose I’m sure!
Also, I have Nike trailrunners. I prefer them over hiking shoes bc they’re less big/heavy and since I travel long term, it’s easier to carry with me. They did the job perfectly! Make sure to take something that is Goretex though :)
And it wasn’t that cold around this time of year, only up in Lobuche was I wearing multiple layers.
Good luck and have fun with all the planning!!
Love from India ❤❤❤❤
Omg you even met Nims!!! That's amazing
I know, so lucky! 🥹
Yaah u can do it
❤
Nice
Hi Flora, what a fantastic adventure and beautifully filmed too. Loved the content, now subscribing for more. Couple of questions, if you don't mind. Firstly, what time if year did you do this? Secondly, did it take much planning to do this self supported? And I'd love to watch a kit and organisational video. How you booked it all, what you took, etc, etc. Planning on doing this next year, and obviously using a porter is cheating...
Thank you so much for your kind words!! 🙏 we did the trek end of March/beginning of April 2024. I wouldn’t say it was a lot of planning but it definitely was a little bit of work! We made sure we knew the route and in which places to stop for the night (there’s plenty of info online about this!). And this is not absolutely necessary, but we also researched accommodation options in each place, checking their ratings on google maps, just to make sure we had a solid place to go to after a long day of hiking and we didnt have to check out several option and decide when tired. Hope you have the best time next year!! 🙌✨
@@floragonning Thanks Flora - I've got another adventure this summer, but EBC is for next year so I'll let you know how I get on! Did you get the impression you were lucky to be able to find somewhere to stay? And did did you pack an emergency tent?
Wow so luckyyyyy! you met Nimsdai!!! I kinda wanna meet him too someday hahahaha. Did you guys had a chat? Whats he doing there? He was just in Annapurna recently! He’s all over the Himalayas! They are so eliteexped! 😂😂😂
Haha yes we did and he was actually really nice and friendly about it!! 🙌 such a good soul. I think he was there to oversee the new build of a porter lodge in Lobuche!
Loved the videos. Sorry if I missed it but how did you get back to Kathmandu? Did you simply retrace your steps, fly from Lukla or take some other route?
We walked all the way back to Salleri again! But it was a lot more downhill + didn’t film it, so we were a lot faster 😂
Hi, very impressive.
You should now try for K2 base camp it's more challenging.
Thanks! Stay tuned😉
18:32 😂😂😂😂 luv this dialogue 😍 “I hate snickers” :-))) nope, no, no, no
😂
A new subscriber here. Enjoying your style of vlogging. How many hours from Lobuche to base camp?
Thanks for subscribing! ✨ it must have been around 2.5 hours to gorakshep, then another 2.5 hours to base camp!
Hi 👋 Simply 👍😊👏✌️!!!
I wonder why you avoided Kalapattar from where you could have the best view of Mount Everest!
No Pakistan series 2.0 video yet at 12 PM?
I guess Internet in Hunza is terrible.
Sorry for the wait, it is indeed not the best internet here 😅
I may be a fool, but I think I would have brought a tent for just incase
I luv US accent coz it's lot easier to understand than the British one haha 😊, welcome to Nepal
Sick shots. When was this shot? Aug2023?
Thanks so much 🙏 March/April 2024!
@@floragonning I see. I suppose they aren't that strict about the new law i read online which requires all tourist to have a guide.
all that way and not 1 shot of Everest. LOL, Also I think I would spend some time at base camp as well
Where are you going next?
Which adventure?
Did you pay permit fee?
Whats up with that ugly sign board at base camp?
❤️🇵🇰
when u come again Pakistan
🤍🤍🤍🤍
The SAD part is that in all three parts of your EBC trek video, you didn't show any glimpse of Mount Everest itself. Even in the end when you reached EBC. Not a single shot of Mount Everest shown. 😐😐
This thing is still incomplete.
Loved everything else but without any shots of Mount Everest, this EBC trek video doesn't look complete.
FYI before you watch : This video does not show nor Everest nor Base camp.
How come has it become this boring after the Pakistan greatest vibes ?
#Imam mahdi is pakistani ❤❤❤❤
Hello-- May I share the most important news you will ever hear in your life? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?
IF YOU DONT REPLY ME IN INSATA I DONT WATCH YOUR VLOG
Mean you’re making fun of me !!! Why the hell I am so old … ???
