you're right, the full prices look scary! i keep seeing prognosis about second wave of inflation later this year. and wondering with anxiety how much more the prices could rise.

Oh, you can root a section of the rosemary and have a plant. :)

I do that with green onion bottoms, and right now I have 2 bottoms of romaine lettuce and a celery bottom sitting in some water and starting to put roots out!

WOW Karen the original price of the roll for over £5 made my eyes water. I definitely couldn't afford M&S original prices for sure.
OMG smoked salmon flakes and that chicken. If you cook the chicken it will keep in the fridge for upto 3 days. The baking camembert is really nice if you add garlic and rosemary before baking. I don't know if you can freeze it but I do love it. Lidl definitely got my vote. Enjoy your bargain buys. Kind regards Angeline ❤️ xx

Hi Karen, the camembert cheese will freeze and a great way I use it up is to make a pizza with either an onion relish or roasted red capsicum (I've used a chutney also) with sliced camembert on top, worked also in a toasted roll or you can add it to a tart.

We got an Aldi TGTG box , tonight , there was 4 left ,so We just bought one to enable others , and it was a magnificent box , we also got a great £1:50 fruit and vegetable box from Lidle, ( It had a few packets of broccoli spears in, so we had enough to share with other families. See that Salmon we had some in the freezer , and made broccoli spears and salmon Quiches . Yummy . The Camembert we make Tartiflette with . We mix the Tartiflette Cheese with Colliers Cheddar 225 g £1:79 from Farm Foods. Because Robochon is very expensive so the Camembert and Cheddar is an adequate compensation. At Christmas I was off colour , and couldn’t face a Traditional dinner , so we had made a Tartiflette as a stand in if needed. So glad we did.

Hi Karen! Wow! Great deals! No clue how to bake Camembert. Know the sandwiches at the tiny local store are very high. When I go, it's after 2pm. My favorite breakfast sandwich, if available, is marked down from $4.49 to $2.00! That's what I have for dinner. I get two if they have them= 2 dinners for me. Biscuit with sausage, egg and cheese. That's the only bargains they have but I think of you when I buy them! 😁

Met a friend in Haskins gardencentre this week. They were selling sandwiches there, they did look well filled and tasty, but at the cost of £10.95! I still can not believe that is real. I hope i was mistaken. Unreal. Didn't have one ofcourse but made my own at home at about £0.40.

I started getting TooGoodToGo surprise bags after watching what you unpacked. Around here (North Hertfordshire) Aldi definitely do the best bags for £3.30 at the beginning of the week. They try to make sure you can make a least one proper meal out of the contents. On Monday I got steak, a chicken, veg and fruit so very generous. Thank you for the videos.

Just came from the store, and prices stopped me in my tracks. Some stores are worse than others. I bought some extra for the shelf - some canned peaches in juice and extra canned milk, an extra loaf of bread, but everything else was normal, but I still spent $119. I don't buy processed foods if I can help it, with the exception of organic bread and yogurt. But this should last me a week and a half to two weeks.

Karen, that camembert would be amazing swirled in a hot pasta sauce or as a pasta sauce thinned out with some milk/water...so there's a lot more to do with that than bake it. I regularly add soft cheese of some kind to sauces and it's a game changer!

    • @Anita-gp1gv

Yes indeed we got 7 Gorgonzola , gave 2 x 2 away left with 3 , and put it in things like Cauliflower cheese with Colliers Cheddar £1:79, the huge Cauliflower we got out of a Lidle £1:50 box , it was so large it made two/2 Cauliflower Cheeses. But we always find a substantial delicious meal to add the other cheeses to. Although Camembert and a Cranberry Sauce is delicious , I think that what Karen had planned when she mentioned cooking it.

I had never had Brie or Cannon beer cheese. In my early twenties a friend from school. Taught me how to make it. We take the oven to 120 to 180°. I'm patient I take it to 120°. Turn off the oven put it in a baking dish not metal. And leave it for 15, 20, 30 minutes. So delicious. I always leave the outer layer on. Then when I can lightly put my finger or the end of a spoon slightly smuch it. It is ready to cut in quarter and open or in half an open. Depending on how many people are there to help you eat that yummy soft runny lovelyness. I don't need any help eating one whole wheel :-) I think they're 4 1/2 to 6 oz here in The States, in this area of Florida. delicious :-)

I wouldn’t have a Greggs bag given to me now , they can be disgusting , I got one and I got one/1 sausage roll , 1 rock hard plain round shortbread biscuit, I threw it on the hard floor and it still didn’t break. 1 very sad Egg Mayonnaise sandwich (inedible) it was disgusting, never again ! We get Cooplands TGTG bags they are far superior to Greggs TGTG. With things like a large Yorkshire Curd Tart etc . (Although when we get loads of TGTG Cottage Cheese from The Food Company we make our own in the Pie Maker . But Cooplands are as nice as our own.

Nice little haul... Check what you can and can't freeze too... If you can freeze camembert then you can bake them at leisure... I've got to tell you this... I made 8 soft white bread rolls on Thursday while the boy was at college... Followed tutorial, turned out perfect... next time I'm just splitting the mixture into 6 instead of 8, make them a little larger, my next experiment are the milk rolls... Then cinnamon buns... You really can't beat fresh bread... I want to learn it by second nature, so I can make it wherever I go x lol x

That first box, the prices aren't even a bargain at reduced prices. Lidl and Aldi are cheaper than that at their full price. For example a pack of bread rolls is only around 50p and if you go and get the savings when they are reduced, I managed to get a pack of 6 bread rolls for 15p at Lidl the other evening. Today I even got bread, meat and cake reductions with big savings mid-afternoon. Those good-to-go reductions are only good if you are able to eat up all the products. Sometimes you get things that you can't get through, such as multi-packs of coleslaw, and 5 packs of Camembert! (seriously!). Camembert also has a high water content and shouldn't really be frozen. Snack packs of fruit are total waste of money imho. I think sometimes it's better to go to the actual store and pick out the bargains that you actually want, you can sometimes save more money that way rather than ending up with things such as way too much cheese or things like Rosemary that you may not use but are still paying for. xx
