Well, depending on where it came from the tiny jar of jam might cost a couple of bucks by itself, so there's that, and although that's the kind of thing hotels expect us to consider, it shouldn't be. That's their problem. That's 1.50 of toast there at best, and considering that amount of bread cost them a deal less when bought in bulk, even that is generous. And I can only assume the coffee was also hotel-priced, so there not failing to profit on the meal even if toast was cheaper.

It is given it is just buttered toast given you got 2 slices that was 4 half slices. When a loaf cost them about 2 dollar worth of ingredients and it was about 10 slices total if it is a short sloaf.

Yesssssss! Especially, when a loaf of bread at the store cost less than $3.00.
That whole menu was out of line.

I've noticed here in Seattle anything junk food like chips soda candy or bread is much pricier.....its done to deter us from choosing unhealthy or to help us make better nutritious choices.

Those white chairs you panned to for a few seconds are called master chairs and are about $250 each. Not surprised they can afford them if they’re making you pay $6 for toast lmao

Seattle is quite expensive..my brother is an executive chef there and just came from visiting during thanksgiving so im not surprised im sure there are places where the toast might be more however they might come with more than just bread

As a person who grew up and still lives in seattle, $6 toast is actually avg toast price 🥲 Food here is so incredibly expensive, partially due to property costing so much I think? I paid $6.75 for a chipotle sized extra guac side for my chips and guac the other day and I have never been so sad in my life :(

Yes and the fact that you were excited it had butter. I never had toast or seen toast without butter. I would have expected the whole loaf of bread for that price

Fun fact: That's not what toast is in my country. In my country a toast would at least have cheese and Turkish style fermented sausages in it. But the most popular type is called Ayvalık Toast. Which has sausages, Turkish style fermented sausages, tomatoes, cheese, salami, pickles etc. And it would most likely be served with french fries. AND would only cost like 2-3 dollars with drinks

Back in like 1978 in Chicago when I was about 14 I was at a hotel where my mom was helping run a convention for a National group to which she belonged. She gave me some money to buy my brother and I some breakfast. The toast cost $5 back then. I’m sure it’s about $8-10 now.
