I grew up with everything in this video except the Rotunda. It had burned down in 1962. My dad worked for FoMoCo and as a result I had complete access to the Rouge plant, several other factories and the Glass House. I was also in the pilot classes offered at the Village before it became a regular offering. Fun times...
I've been to the Ford Museum several times. The history and exhibits in there are fascinating. I've been to many museums all over the country, and The Ford Museum is right up there at the top for me, next to The Smithsonian. If you've never been, I highly recommend. Make time to stop in at "Ford's Garage" nearby, for lunch or dinner. Great gourmet burgers and selection of craft beers!!
Greenfield Village is a great place. Spent a lot of time there with my Aunt. Also used to go there a couple times a year because the Civil War shooting organization I used to belong to would be brought in for exhibition matches in the summer every year for a very long time back when I was much, much younger. I wasn't old enough to participate yet at the time, but I loved it since we got free roam of both the Village and the Museum as kids. I'm still absolutely entranced with the Dymaxion House, even to this day. And it's self-cleaning bathroom, lol. It's still a great place, though ticket prices are a bit of a spicy meatball, if I'm being honest. But it is still some of the very best of the best as far as collections go.
@@warphammer I visited the ROUGE my first visit but for whatever reason, I thought it was overrated. All they did was play loud music and a light show. A detailed history program would have been better. Oh well.
When my daughter was about 10, her and i rode our bicycles down the bike path in Hines Park, following all the twists and turns about 4 miles total from here, straight up to the front door of the Henry Ford Mansion on Fairlane drive. They were closed due to remodeling. Eventually a security guard drove up and kindly asked us to leave.
I was there for the first time in 2021 and liked it so much I visited again the next year. Please allow yourself 2-3 days so you can see everything without being rushed. If you haven’t visited this place, go. You won’t be disappointed.
2024: Many a visit. Lived in the area as a kid. Literally made a "holiday" of it in 2016 when I took my youngest son. A lot of memories, history, and nostalgia there for generations to come. I believe the Rotunda is where people now queue up for the bus to the assembly plant tour Looks quite different, at least for the past few decades.
I was a 1960's kid, I remember a friend said to me, in the future we'll have portable telephones we carry on us, I said that'd be a nightmare, on call 24/7, I told him that would suck.
@@JohnShields-xx1yk I solved that problem. I just keep it on silent. If people have a reason to call me, they have to leave a message. That way if it some annoying relative or a telemarketer, I can ignore them. Most people know I prefer email anyway.
Like the middle east with modern buildings. Even the police force are arabs. After living in the middle east for a decade, Dearborn has far better arab food than any country in the middle east. I'd say 85 percent of the city is Arab

Worked Monday/Friday shift at the Dearborn Assembly plant in 1972. We made Mavericks, Mustangs and Cougars.
I have been to Dearborn 5 times. I enjoy it more each time.
😊I LIVED IN DEARBORN AND WENT TO THESE PLACES BACK IN 1950. GREAT 👍 PLACE TO GO TO.😊
I visited there in the late 70s and loved the exhibits. Unforgettable.
Don't go back, you'll be greatly disappointed. The only thing left in the museum from this period is objects that were too costly to move.

Greenfield Village is still very cool!
My Grandpa Nagorka worked at the Rouge for 45 yrs.

Greenfield Village and the museum are still there and still great to visit. So's the Rouge, though the tour doesn't include the steel mill these days.

Before the mall was there, we rode horses on the trails all around the grounds.

This is the dramatic climax of modern mass production.

The Rotunda burned down November, 1962. I watched it. Ford factory tours begin at the Henry Ford Museum.
Sure did change in 70 years lol.
I visited both times in October. The GREENFIELD VILLAGE was open but nothing special was going on. Still a nice walking tour.
