Sean Casey He sings beautifully!!! Give a listen to his Ballad of big nothing cover here on TH-cam. Him taking over on the bass and getting more involved into the songwriting it’s one of the best things to happen to diiv.
Seba Atreides Yup I’m with you. Devin was solid but he also had a big mouth on social networks and Colin it’s an awesome singer and songwriter so he adds up a lot to DIIV.
"It's gonna rain , build a boat" Noah's Ark Reference But also means "Trouble is coming, prepare yourself" That's why the chorus is " im just waiting for the storm to die out" referencing waiting for the trouble to end
On and on, the clock was wrong You've been numb so long His words, they lapped an endless rote It's gonna rain, build a boat On masterstrokes of ebb and flow Down the drain the current flows All along the alpenglow It seems my pain was self-imposed I'm just waiting for the storm to die out, out I'm just waiting for the storm to die out I'm just waiting for the storm to die On and on, in memory You'll have my company Mountain building, anodynes Both in handfuls at a time I asked the trees why they grow They said, "It's all we know" I apologize to all I see For everything I used to be On and on, the clock was slow Down the drain, we surely know How to drink the oceans up Better start with a cup I'm just waiting for the storm to die out
I think it's about life and how life is an ocean and we're just people and it's impossible to drink the entire ocean without dying, it's impossible to enjoy life to the "maximum". So it's up to you to know what you want to make of it. Since you can't drink the ocean, so better build a boat to snow on it and not be afraid of the storm, otherwise you'll never leave the place and just watch the chaos to your death. [You can't drink the ocean, so you're better off surfing it than trying to stop it from flooding you]
Really like that analysis. I personally resonate with "how to drink the oceans up, best start with a cup". To me it represents the start to a long journey, whether it be from something terrible or to something better. Only way is to start small and build from there. And with Coles addiction background, it makes sense. Addiction is one hell of a mountain to climb
It happens everytime, bands change, I mean, I miss the Oshin era too, but this album it's amazing, quite hard to listen the first time 'cause it's completely different from Oshin or Is the Is are, kinda heavy, MBV style, but that's music, it's always changing
This is the best band I've ever heard in my opinion
Wow your opinion makes great music!!
Damn Colin Caulfield rocks backup vocals live!
Sean Casey He sings beautifully!!! Give a listen to his Ballad of big nothing cover here on TH-cam. Him taking over on the bass and getting more involved into the songwriting it’s one of the best things to happen to diiv.
It's really neat to see Cole's personal growth reflected in the new material he's creating.
i can’t believe diiv is actually using chords
Fuck chords
@@ololol662 hahaha yeah man
hahaha
Shit 😂
Hahaaa 😂😂 cool
The most beautiful vocal "symbiosis" since Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell
yep.
Yes
Damn! though I was the only one feeling the same
we need an acoustic album of some their songs
Fr! An unplugged DIIV album would be great.
PunkTunes could not agree more
maybe one day... hopefully
Loose ends acoustic......:...........
Fuck yeah that would be so awesome
really digging Colin's mobster-scarecrow look.. very original!
Beautiful harmonies. This version makes me enjoy the album version even more for some reason. And the perfect storm replacement at 1:25
that section/solo right there is otherworldly.
Colin was a big upgrade to the band imo
i think he's been in the band for quite a while?
AbstractMan23 yeah, first for arrangements (guit and keybs). And after Devin wasn’t in the band anymore, he took his place in bass guitar
Seba Atreides Yup I’m with you. Devin was solid but he also had a big mouth on social networks and Colin it’s an awesome singer and songwriter so he adds up a lot to DIIV.
Tbh yes i love colin ❤ andrew is sick asf tho too
@Chris Greene you can be sweet and still not a good fit for something
this got me through lockdown and been coming back ever since
everyday I find a new awesome DIIV stuff, cant complain
Saw them in October at the Paradise in Boston, GREAT band.
And they played my jam: Take your time.
Mood changer 🎉🐇
DIIV continua tocando forte no meu peito
I hit that save button with such Joy.
"It's gonna rain , build a boat"
Noah's Ark Reference
But also means "Trouble is coming, prepare yourself"
That's why the chorus is " im just waiting for the storm to die out"
referencing waiting for the trouble to end
The lyrics are so bitterly sad but utterly beautiful :(
I love Cole’s lyrical skills. Great songwriter.
nice black guitar and great song.

It's gonna rain, build a boat

All along the alpenglow

I'm just waiting for the storm to die out, out
I'm just waiting for the storm to die out
I'm just waiting for the storm to die
On and on, in memory
You'll have my company
Mountain building, anodynes
Both in handfuls at a time
I asked the trees why they grow
They said, "It's all we know"
I apologize to all I see
For everything I used to be
On and on, the clock was slow
Down the drain, we surely know
How to drink the oceans up
Better start with a cup
I'm just waiting for the storm to die out
This was so good. I love DIIV.❤️
Esos carnales están en mi corazón mucho amor desde México
omgggggggg lovely
i just saw them live they're so cool
本当この2人素晴らしい
Very, very impressive! Thanks for sharing!
Yess. Relaxation 😌

Wow this is beautiful.
How beautiful, damn...🥹

Simply amazing.
LUUV DIIV
this is so good!
holy shit this is amazing. what a treat!
Has a Nirvana vibe, at least for me. Really like this band.
Not so weird. Cole is a big fan of Nirvana
Seba Atreides the clock is slow bit shares lyrics with Marigold
I want a black Martin now!
Superb!
Diiv Acoustic looks like Pinback
Pinback!! I loved that band and still do
This sounds like Brian Molko in an avant garde tavern in19th century Bruges
Love the vibe..
Amazing!
Love it
Cole's masculinity came out in full form with Deceiver. Depression and severe guilt will toughen a man
amazing !!!
I fucking love the album and this is one of my favorites for sure
tremendo
someone could your headline this beautiful song
I love the reverb on coles voice, but it really is pretty without it
💙💚💛
that harmonic was tight asf
Colins chorus 4ever
Sooo harmonic
time flies so fast until cole become steve jobs
was there a synth track added to this in post? I swear I can hear a faint synth, especially at the beginning.
I hear synth too but Most likely that's black guitar overtones.
今も聴いてるぜ
What guitar is Cole playing?? Can’t seem to find it anywhere
Yavrum kimse gelmeden yerimi alayım herkese iyi akşamlar.
kimse gelmeyecek ki
Does anyone know what model Martin acoustic Colin is playing.
martin dcpa5 but it took some research. I don't think you can buy them new any longer.
i love you
:)
This song is like Healthy Moon’s depressed sister
Hahaha
healthy moon is pretty depressed too
Crazy you say that bc there’s an acoustic version of healthy moon with these 2 playing it as well

15 more people not coming to my party!
Thanks reddit
Thats fuckin beautiful🤌
""post punk band" ?
"shoegaze post-punk band" ;)
Surf rock shoegaze post punk band ,,Lol
"Surf Noise rock post punk shoegaze band"
"Surf Noise rock jangle post punk shoegaze dream pop band"
fuck your all generally
Cole looks like a rip-off version of any of "Charlie Brown Jr."'s members
R.I.P Champignon, bass player! 1978- 2013
I like the beginning of this song then it quickly puts me to sleep. I’d hope for a pick up somewhere like they did to dopamine.
This sounds like honey
!!!
I miss 2012 ver diiv
That music still exists, go listen to that
IAmRedherrings I've already listened to Deceiver several times, but for me it feels like something's missing compared to their debut
2012 DIIV was weak, 2016 DIIV was Top Tier, 2019 DIIV is God Tier
RetroDrew I slightly disagree. Diiv was always god tier each album they just changed their sound a bit.
@@RetroDrew I don't hear much with their new album but Like before you were born is God Tier song
After listening to under the sun and healthy moon acoustic versions, this really leaves something to be desired. New diiv is quite drab.
i apologize to all i see for everything i used to be
miau
Cole be looking like a skinner version of steve jobs
dashboard confessional cover?
Mordern Heinrich Himmler with a good voice and can play the strings pretty well.
:(
steve jobs
ok i'm sorry, very tender and emotional performance here, but WHAT happened to DIIV?? This ain't it, chief...
they are sober, this time for real.
I can’t get into the new album at all. Sounds like a totally different band.
It happens everytime, bands change, I mean, I miss the Oshin era too, but this album it's amazing, quite hard to listen the first time 'cause it's completely different from Oshin or Is the Is are, kinda heavy, MBV style, but that's music, it's always changing
“ Sober albums “
@@luisenrique0775 its still hard to listen to the 30th ish time for me. So disappointed :(
I will always love diiv
