The dual plug heads were similar to the Nissan 2400 heads ad it was done for fuel efficacy ad lower emissions. The turbo 2.3's in the svo mushrag and turdbird turbo coup used a special turbo head, bleeding vacuum away from the turbo's waste gate could make for a bit of fun, otherwise the 2.3 was always under powered, durable but uninspiring.
I bought a new Mustang in 1979 with the 2.3. It was still running well when I sold it with 160,000 miles. Only real major service I performed was replacing two timing belts.
Ford 3.0 liter was the best most bullet proof v6 they have in my opinion, would love to here your thoughts on it ❤, yes the 2.3 is a fantastic motor, i remember them fondly also❤
Honestly probably the best 4 cyl out there imo super solid and reliable, i had a 1988 thunderbird turbocoupe, engine had 150k miles on it and didnt burn any oil, took all the abuse i gave it with the timing advanced 4 degrees and boost adjusted to 18-20 psi. Not to mention timing belt literally takes 15-30 minutes to change, if the belt were to snap on the road then guess what! Its a non-interference engine so no valves get damaged! Only downside to this engine is the anemic cylinder head, if it flowed like a dsm head in stock form it wouldve been excellent...we need esslinger to start casting and selling aluminum D port heads again or maybe boport can pick up that market...porting the stock Iron D port only yields a max of 225-235cfm which is nothing
I've had several 2.3 and 2.5 vehicles, and they were the most reliable vehicles I've ever driven. Gotta love a non interference engine

Hey bro, great video. Are you interested in reviewing car LED lighting bulbs? If yes, is there any way to connect you?
Yes you can email me at jchristiansen6000@gmail.com
Is that the same 2.3 l that is in the current new Ford Ranger
Unfortunately no! The current 2024/25 Ford Ranger still uses the older, direct injected only, 2.3 Ecoboost.
