@@Silver_Owl most people write "spoiler" in a reply. This informs the poster that they have made a little blunder and I then see it when I review the comments. Thank you, I appreciate the help.
Of all the deaths In the show this one tore me apart the most. Such a sweet child with beautiful soul yet the people that were meant to love & care for her were the very people that not only had her killed but made her suffer in unimaginable pain and the one man who really did love her and would of layed down his life to protect her was not even there. All these years later and I am still hurting over this one.
This is one of those events that broke my suspension of disbelief. Here's my attitude to D&D's decisions to do this: "Nope! Sorry guys. That doesn't work for me as story-telling. That's just you deciding to torture your audience."
The fact that her mother was the cruel one the entire time while her father protected her, and in the end her mother was the only one to fight for her…but it was too late. Heartbreaking.
@@realSimoneCherie Idk about that lol did you not watch Stannis lead his whole crusade with Melisandre since season 2? The mum is complicit but a far cry from being responsible for Stannis's decisions
I had that also in mind... I was SO convinced that the God of Light (or any other deity or just fate) would put a deer in her stead in the last moment to save her, that this not happening shocked me more than the sacrifice itself. XD
Please don't ever feel like you need to apologize for how the show affects you. We all get overwhelmed at times by the cruel, brutal and otherwise heartbreaking moments in this show. Take a break whenever and for as long as you need one. Game of Thrones can be extremely difficult to watch at times.
You said that you wish you could see the Targaryens in all of their glory and I am glad to say you can! That is what House of the Dragons show is about. The first season just finished and it was pretty good. Would be awesome to see you react to it after GoT! Also Shireens death was the most brutal death in the show for me. Even to this day, after seeing it 10+ times I still tear up every time.
I'd rather see her react to Black Sails first, but it won't get many views, because not enough people know about the beauty and glory of the criminally underrated Black Sails series.
I'm pretty sure this was a hard decision in the edit, and they probably tried both ways... My guess is that they found that it was too brutal to end the episode with that and might even make people just quit watching the series. Now you get some time to recover a little and not end at such an extremely dark note.
One of the biggest plot holes in the show up to this point is how Tyrion, Jorah, and Mizandi survived after Drogon flew away. They were all about to be killed, then just stood there for minutes while anyone could have killed them. But the plot holes will become much bigger lol.
Sofie : "I wish we could have seen the Targaryans in their prime time. Such powerful outstanding family....in all their silver hair, and riding dragons and shit......." Yeeeeahh.......about that......
What happened to Shireen was horrible and heartbreaking but what gets overlooked is that Stannis wasnt just doing it so he can be king or for his own personal gain. He is completely convinced he is the prince that was promised and that only he can save the entire world from death by becoming King and he has been made to believe it by the things he has seen Melisandre do. For him he believes he is making the ultimate sacrifice for the good of the realm and everyone in it and that everyone, including his daughter, will die anyway if he doesnt.
But Shireen is not his to sacrifice, her life does not belong to him. I agree it's a fascinating moral dilemma - do you have the right to kill one innocent to save others? It's the Trolley Problem, basically. But still - it is one thing to sacrifice to the gods what is yours to give, and another to steal what is not yours and offer that. And Stannis has no moral right to Shireen's life. Legally perhaps, as her father and King, but morally no.
I dont think that morality exists in this world. Parents marry off their children for their own benefits, even Ned arranges marriage for Sansa and talks about arranging one for Arya. Tywin talks of marrying off Cersei despite her being much older and then you have the likes of Walder Frey and Craster that marry their own daughters and have children with them. I agree though it is an interesting dilemma, where do you set the line that you dont cross if its to save the entire world?
I think morality exists in this world, there are good and bad acts, and they know it. Society argues over what is moral and what isn't, like all societies, and yes, they see nothing wrong in things we would now disapprove of, just as we permit things they wouldn't. But even so - morality exists. Yeah, it's a great dilemma. How far do you go? How far do you have the right to go?
Stannis is what happens when a man is truly just, where nothing is too far to serve the greater good or what is perceived as the greater good. Stannis believes with all he has that everything he does is justified, something that in reality many characters in GOT also believe as justification for the terrible things they do. Ned was a truly honourable man who lost because he was playing the game with people honour meant little to, Stannis was a man that believed that because he was doing the "right" thing no one could fault him for what he did whether it was Renly or Shireen. He got away with Renly because nobody knew it was him, Shireen everybody knew what he did and so at the end of the day Stannis deserved a gruesome death didnt get it put still paid for his delusions of grandeur
Sofie is so smart and perceptive. She felt the Shireen thing ahead of time. Pausing is a perfect choice. This is a reaction video. Pausing is a reaction. That last scream is brutal.
You're right-the show went too far this time; Stannis showed that he loved his Daughter previously. He never would've done what he did, and it's just painful to watch.
I can't remember the details exactly but in the books Stannis has a will made up with the a guy from the Iron Bank saying if he dies they will put his daughter Sherreane on the Iron Throne. His daughter and the queen her mother stays at castle black so they are not with him .
@@dmp1520 dnd often blame it goerge whenever they receive backlash so I don't take everything they say seriously. But yeah even if does happen it still won't be by Stannis it will most likely happen at the wall following the backlash of Jons murder as queens men wildlings nights watch and others clash . Stannis will be tied up with the Bolton's and other northern houses for awhile.
This is the episode where I wished I could have given you a spoiler but nothing could have prepared you for the middle portion. The only thing that made me feel better personally was at the end when, just as we thought Drogon was about to attack Daenerys, he takes another look and as much as says, 'Oh, hi ma'. That part always makes me smile 😁.
This made me angrier then any other death in the show. I can't even write what I really feel about this because it's too strong and pisses me off too much.
Stannis is crazy. No idea how he got so many supporters. Worst father ever with Tywin. Davos would have never let that happen if he was around and I wish he could of avenged Shireen brutally instead of making Brienne appear out of nowhere and kill him. Made no sense from a writing's perspective and was stupid within the plot only to get justice for Renly. I wanted Davos to go on full serial killer mode on him for doing that willingly and not even attempt to stop it or interfere. What a monster to just watch his child burn on a stake. Even the crazy religious mother tried to end it. Shireen deserved better than her evil and sadistic parents.
I really wish we got to see more of Shireen’s mother’s perspective. It’s likely her resentment and rejection of Shireen stemmed from the fact that she was a constant reminder of her failure to provide Stannis with heirs. After watching House of the Dragon, I don’t think GoT really drove home the fact that the role of noble ladies in Westeros was to further their husband’s line. Providing a male heir was pretty much the number 1, 2, 3 most important tasks as a wife (as if women had any control over that). Wars were fought over it. People were killed over it. And if you as a woman were unable to provide that male heir, then you’re worthless. I have no sympathy for her, nor do I even like her, but I think it’s interesting to explore how a woman who was grieving the loss of the 3 children and dealing with the shame of not providing heirs for her husband would come to hate her only daughter.
GOT é a maior serie da TV mundial , isso é so o começo vc ainda vai se imprecionar muito , porque a parti da sexta temporada a serie vai vira CINEMATOGRAFICA
There is no need to justify the showrunners' outburst. Stannis as a character was simply leaked. Not only the book, but also the serial Stannis would never have burned his daughter.
George said he gave them some notes that are still to come in the next two books, one of them was what happened to Hodor and the other was the burning of Shireen (I haven't heard him talk about Bran being King but I assume that's also his idea). I don't know what will happen to make Stannis do it but he will of that you can be sure. Also keep in mind that he doesn't just want to sit on a damn iron chair like Joffery, he genuinely believes himself to be The Promised Prince and if he doesn't become King and unite the realm behind him then everyone will fall to the darkness coming from the North including his own daughter so I can see him making the ultimate sacrifice, not for power or a chair but for the good of the realm and everyone in it
If Stannis truly believed he was right to do what he did, he would not have sent Davos away. Davos (one of the show's very few examples of wisdom and genuine decency) would certainly have stopped him, and Stannis could not let himself be stopped. It would be admitting to being wrong in front of his army, and, more importantly, I think, admitting to himself he was wrong. That is something he can't face. Compare that to Daenerys taking back Jorah. A true queen can admit she was wrong.
Exactly. It’s intentional that when Gendry was supposed to die, Stannis sought Davos out. Davos represents his conscience in a way. That’s the symbolism behind how chilling it is when Stannis sends Davos away.
A lot of people accuse Martin for going too far with regard to the atrocities depicted on the show but they fail to understand that many if not all of it is derived from history or myth.
I don't understand people who praise GoT for being more brutal than most TV shows...and then complain because it's too brutal. I mean...you want brutality or not?Make up your mind!!The world suck, people can be literal monsters,if you're watching a show like this you shouldn't be surprised by that!!🤨
@@bobafett9348 GRRM suggested to Benioff and Weiss that it would happen eventually, though I don't think the circumstances in the books (if he ever gets around to finishing them) will match what was depicted on the show. I simply can't see Stannis killing his only heir.
Of course, you can see Dragons and Targaryens in their prime, you need to start watching the prequel "The House of Dragons " afterward, the book the dance of Dragon Shireen was reading refers to characters from House of Dragons Show!
Stannis is a lost soul. Man, who lost his own life and desires to his responsibilities and duty. Every character in GoT teaches us, viewers, about wrong and right choices.
This is my first time seeing a video of yours ever, it was YT Recommended. To say I've seen many GoT videos would be an understatement of colossal proportions, and ykw? I hit subscribe. Great reaction, yes, this episode and the moment with Shireen affected every one of us with the same abject shock. This show is capable of great heights.
I’m glad you paused the show after Shireens death. It almost makes you not care about what happens next in the episode cuz of how angry you get. They should have put that scene at the end of the episode.
12:37 well if that can reassure you (a bit), people burnt at the stake died from asphyxia and not from the flames ☠️ And also (but less reassuring i guess), children’s sacrifice was something quite common in Pre-Colombian civilizations, and sometime it was big scale event 😬
But not everyone burned alive asphyxiates. Some do die from organ decomposition due to the heat of the flames alone. Passing out from asphyxiation is common, but that doesn’t mean someone is not feeling pain. The nerves have to be burned for pain to stop. The fact that it can take up to 5 full minutes for your skin to burn - JUST YOUR SKIN, means that it’s truly one of the slowest most grisly ways to die
@ Sofie Heeey there .. Hmm me again 3 things below 1. I thought after Ned and Robb Stark you would have learned that there is no hero that comes out of Darkness and intervenes " The night is dark and full of terrors" 2. Bet Stainnis not as honorable and father of the year as you said he was 5 or 6 episodes ago We all knew this was coming 3. Ummm about the Targaryens and the dragons there is a show called House of the Dragon First season already aired and 2 more years till season 2
The "power in king's blood" stuff is a bit non sensical. Stannis and Renly were born before Robert seized the throne. Untill this date, they were not "king's blood". Did something change in their blood when their brother was crowned?
im willing to believe something like this will happen in the books but proboly be done under different circumstances, i personaly think the reason for why this happens is borderline character assassination for stannis but the acting is really well done
Here is the interesting takeaway from this ep.: As horrible, vile, and inhuman as stannis actions makes us feel, isn't it essentially this same act that forms the basis of christian belief? The christian narrative says: "For God soooo loved the world he gave his only begotten son...". This sacrifice is somehow accepted as an act of a "loving" god by many; just something to think about...and don't get me started on abraham.
Talk about someone having your back! Way to go Ser Jorah! Don’t think Daenerys was calling for Drogon; she had the same look Obi-Wan had before Vader struck him down. She probably thought this was the end. Remember when Ser Jorah told Tyrion about the time the dragons were born? “I was a cynic like you...watched a girl step into a great fire...alive and unhurt...holding her baby dragons...it’s hard to be a cynic after that.” That last part was what Tyrion was going through as he watched Drogon take off with mommy. Like he never saw anyone like her before and she might be the first person for him to believe in.
I like the stannis arc. Started as someone who was strict, unbending, reasons didn't matter for rule breaking but wasn't evil etc then what was the law and his by right justified any means and cost.
I agree Sofie. Everyone goes on about the Red Wedding, but this was by absolute miles the most foul and reprehensible, EVIL event in the entire show. I love the series, but I vowed not to watch any more after this. I eschewed S05E10. Of course, it was a whole year before Series 6 came out, and by then I had gotten over it enough, so I watched the last show of S5. And S6 was great. Still, I have never again watched this scene: nor will I ever. It sickens me.
I always wondered why Jon had Stannis’ ships drop him and the Wildlings north of the wall. On the map they would only have to travel the width of the wall to be dropped on the south side. The walk from the bay is the exact same as Castle Black is in the middle of the wall. And, by staying on the north side they could gave gotten ambushed by the Night King again. We don’t know for sure if there are other armies of the dead scattered throughout the north side of the wall? It seems Jon and Tormen departed Castle Black on the south side (someone check me). Why not return on the south side?
This never happens in the book. Stannis leaves his daughter in the care of Jon Snow, at The Wall, when riding off for War agains The Bolton's. It's all fan-fiction.
I believe it comes from a scrap of paper to his editor, saying what will happen to her (that she will burn). nothing mentions who does it, or why.@@okaysxo
the effects of the dragons, and not only, are really at an exceptional level. unlike those in the cinema today, which move around the average level, and even worse. a strange phenomenon, but real.
Once you finish GoT I strongly encourage you to watch House of The Dragon. It covers The Dance of Dragons and shows the Targaryens at the height of their power
I agree with you I watched this show with another 2 adult men, embarrassed to say we all cried like children when the princess was burned, this was the most horrible scene not just in GOT but we have ever seen ... you said in the earlier episode if anything happens to this little girl I am done ... I was literally dreading of you watching this scene...
Stannis doesn't do this In the books, but you also have to understand that Stannis isn't acting this way just to take the throne. The whole objective is to beat the white walkers. People will have to die to make it happen.
I feel like Shireen's death should have been the climax of the episode since it's supposed to show how corrupt and misguided Stannis is, that he's willing to commit atrocities just to get what he wants, that he's so manipulatable. But no. It's in the middle of the episode, lingered on only to shock viewers. And sure, you can argue that she's just another innocent, caught up in it all and that's the point, but I don't agree
I wonder if they felt making it the climax would be so emotionally devastating, people might not come back to watch the next episode! Giving us more scenes allows us to re-engage with the remaining characters. I'm not disagreeing with you, and I don't know if that's why, I'm just speculating.
@@Silver_Owl I mean they haven't had any issue ending other episodes with tragedies nor do they shy away from things that would turn watchers off previously or to come. It SHOULD be emotionally devastating but instead we end with OH WOW COOL DRAGON RIDING. Like I get where you're coming from, but I think minimising it reduces impact on how horrific it is and we should have to feel that and the retribution we want would be motivation enough to keep watching
Its supposed to shit on Stannis character, so you dont care once he dies and showwriters just give off his book storyline to Jon Snow next season. Plain example of character assasination
@@countrye3013 I get where you're coming from too - for me this was the scene that distressed me most on the show, so personally I did need that extra dragon riding scene! But not everyone will feel that way, I agree.
@@Silver_Owl Like the show didnt cross this moment already and like the show watchers are ever going to touch the books, especially if they dont expect the things to be different.
I thought the episode was sort of slow. Especially after last week. The best part was the ending scenes with Dany imo. And I loved Tyrion saving Missandei. Stannis sacrificing his daughter like that was insane! WTF. That poor girl, she didn't deserve that. Davos will be so upset to hear that.
I've enjoyed rewatching the show with you through your reactions because you're such an unjaded person and you let your emotions show. I had forgotten that Stannis saved Jon and The Watch from the Wildlings, and I had forgotten that Stannis gave Jon ships to rescue people from the Night King and his army, but I never have and never ever will forget that Stannis stood there and watched as his daughter burned alive and he was the one who agreed to it. Not only that, but Stannis sent Davos away so he couldn't talk him out of it and he basically deceived his daughter in order to get her unknowing blessing on his actions so he didn't feel as bad about it. I agree that the showrunners didn't need to be this graphic, and I think this season has been one step after another towards this point. I don't know if it's because they finally ran past where the books were in the story or what, but they have substituted this stomach churning violence for violence's sake in the place of the author's use of violence as a part of the reality of life in Westeros and beyond in that time. I'll say it again, Jorah is in love with Dani. But I love the fact that Drogon had to have already felt his mother's uneasiness and came back from where Tyrion and Jorah saw him in order for him to be there when she called him. The look on Dani's face as she rode off on Drogon was so... I have no words except that I believe there was some sort of communion going on between them. The author has never spelled out the relationship between dragons and their riders, but it is hinted that it can range from extremely close to bare tolerance to outright rejection. I'd say that Drogon is remembering he loves his mother now that he's growing past his terrible teens.
"I agree that the showrunners didn't need to be this graphic"It's the 2nd time I hear this type of complaining(that I recall,at least). The 1st time was for the end scene of ep 2x04 of"The Wilds"and in both cases I'm like...WHY?And if for"The Wilds"a case can still be made,in GoT's case I'm *really* wondering why would you complain about a scene being"too graphic"since _it's GoT's thing!_ The fact that it's more brutal than any other show it's literally its trademark...I would understand complaining about the opposite..like..if,for example,at one point the show became as"vanilla"as an ordinary TV show I could understand people complaining because:"This is GoT,this is what I'm here for,why would you make it like any other show around?!?😠"but complaining about the very brutal/shocking factors the show is famous for?!?I don't get it.🤷♂Expecially because you said:"I had forgotten that Stannis saved Jon and The Watch from the Wildlings, and I had forgotten that Stannis gave Jon ships to rescue people from the Night King and his army, but I never have and never ever will forget that Stannis stood there and watched as his daughter burned alive and he was the one who agreed to it."and this,to me,PROVES that the scene did *exactly* what a powerful scene is supposed to do:BE MEMORABLE. The fact you're unable to forget it proves *that it's well done!* That it HAD to be made that way!!You are *not* supposed to FORGET a father letting his child burning alive...IT'S A GOOD THING that you are unable to forget it!!!...In my opinion. "I'd say that Drogon is remembering he loves his mother now that he's growing past his terrible teens."LOL. How cute.😁🐲🖤
@@Nicamon I was going to make a big argument about how the violence in the early seasons came from the books, and GRRM has admitted to using the "greatest hits" from actual history as inspiration for his story, so that made it different... but then my brain clicked. Shirreen was burned at the stake just like hundreds of women were in reality for one reason - religion. They were burned for being "witches" (different) and Shirreen was burned because of her blood (princess), but in both cases it came about because of the religion (Lord of Light/God) as interpreted by the priest(ess) demanded it, and in many cases the families gave them over. So, as disgusting and disturbing as it was, it was also based on reality.
Yes you can see the young Targaryen as after this series you can start the prequel of GOT called house of dragon which is based on the Targaryen and it's epic . You would love it can't wait for you to finish this and watch that one.. watching these series with you is so fun.
In Greek mythology Agamemnon sucrificed his daughter before sailing to Troy, so that the wind would be in their favour. Also, in the Bible there's the story of Abraham who almost sacrificed his son bc God asked him to. It's terribly cruel but I think there's a deeper meaning to this scene. It's about the personal sacrifice that leaders have to do and the way fanatic faith plays with your mind. Stannis and the red woman represent both dimensions. Kings and people of power are privileged in a way that's inconceivable for 99.9% of the population, that has to comes with a great cost. As for the second aspect that is blind faith, if you truly believe in the God, any God, you would trust that whatever he commands is for the greater good. Also, it's always been weird to me that people hate so much on characters like Stannis's wife or Katelyn's sister etc. These are severly mentally sick people. It's not that I like them but I understand that there's sth really wrong with them.
You make an interesting point about power. I feel Stannis is wrong though because he's paying his debts with someone else's life. Shireen does not belong to him, her life is not morally his to give. His own life yes, he can offer that. Her life if she was willing, but she's clearly not. (Her remark about wanting to help can be disregarded - she clearly didn't intend this.) Even though it comes at an emotional cost to him, she's ultimately the one paying most.
@@Silver_Owl You're right. Shireen is the one who's ultimately paying the most, unfortunately. The argument though about leadership and kingship remains the same. A leader's decision affects the life of many. Whether we like it or not. It's in the very nature of leading. A wrong decision will send many to their graves (children included). It's a huge responsibility. When you're responsible with the very fate of the world (Stannis thinks that he's the prince who was promised and can stop the White walkers threat), why the life of your daughter should be more important? It's the same argument Pycell I think makes about Danaerys in the council in the 1st season. The concept of sacrificing the one to spare the many is very controversial and in my opinion there's not an easy answer. Luckily, it's a dilemma that most likely only people of power might have to face. And here's where the great cost comes. When someone is given great privilege, when time comes he must pay the most for the greater good. I don't think Stannis minds dying but from his pov his death wouldn't save humanity. It would have been useless. Shireen was the only person he loved and he had to give her up. I've never liked Stannis and it feels weird to almost defend him. But I think that in good storytelling there's so much more to learn and to observe than simply making it personal and react as if it's real life. Stannis has always been dutiful. That's in the core of his character. I just think that people who call him straightforward evil are missing the point of his arc. Sorry for the long answer:)
@@kated.4626 No problem re the long answer, it's interesting, thanks! I agree with you that it's not a simple dilemma, and I agree re power. The question becomes at what point has a leader crossed the line - at what point does he no longer have the right? After all, a leader may liberate a willing people, and we'd say he was right - but that liberation may accidentally kill a civilian. Perhaps that's why Shireen's death comes across as so wrong - there's nothing accidental about it. She's not an unintended battlefield victim - she's a child being deliberately murdered. Yes, you're right, it's the same argument Pycelle made for killing Daenerys and her unborn child, and Ned rejected it, refusing to kill an innocent girl. But it's worth noting Varys and the other advisors agreed with Pycelle. I'm with Ned - deliberately murdering an innocent girl is a line that shouldn't be crossed, but you're right, it's not straightforward.

Sansa’s ordeal was even more egregious because it didn’t make sense narratively. Littlefinger would never hand over the key to the North to the Boltons, that’s why he gave them Jeyne. Likewise, Ramsay wouldn’t mistreat his only claim to the North, he did that to Jeyne because he knew she wasn’t really Arya.

@@ArcanistBlack I didn't say she was, I think Shireen will be sacrificed by Melisandre and her mother without Stannis knowledge, as George R.R. I just want to say Ser Davos is one of my fav characters and his and Shireens connection was so pure. It still makes me cry.
The sacrificial burning of Shireen in order to attain victory is a parallel to Greek mythology's Iphigenia.
Not to attain victory, for the survival of his army.
20:58 Sofie: "WIsh we could see the Targaeryens in their prime time"

9:05 is the exact moment Sofie remembered that this is an Episode 9 of GoT and something terrible must happen in the next minutes..
I totally paused the show at Shireen's death and sobbed when I first watched this
The performance...every time I see it I'm amazed at how Stanis' inner conflict can be seen so clearly in his face.

“I wish we could have seen the Targaryen’s in their prime”. She been missing out in House of the Dragon
I cry every time I watch THAT scene. I’ve been dreading this episode for you. Hugs.
It's very weird that Shireen's death is in the middle of the episode, they expect us to just move on to the next scene lmao
I'm pretty sure this was a hard decision in the edit, and they probably tried both ways... My guess is that they found that it was too brutal to end the episode with that and might even make people just quit watching the series. Now you get some time to recover a little and not end at such an extremely dark note.
@@demopem moral of the story, maybe don't burn children alive
One of the biggest plot holes in the show up to this point is how Tyrion, Jorah, and Mizandi survived after Drogon flew away. They were all about to be killed, then just stood there for minutes while anyone could have killed them.
But the plot holes will become much bigger lol.
“I wish we could see Targaryans in their prime”
You got your wish!
Sofie : "I wish we could have seen the Targaryans in their prime time.

Sofie be like I feel so numb right now. Also sofie a few moments later 'i like her necklace' 😂. You should watch house of the dragon about targaryens.
As much as you can hate Ramsay, gotta respect his battle plan, just needed 20 men to crush Stannis.
I agree though it is an interesting dilemma, where do you set the line that you dont cross if its to save the entire world?
yeah I dont care, he is still a shithead

Stannis will be tied up with the Bolton's and other northern houses for awhile.
Shireen was a sweet, innocent, beautiful, little girl. This scene could've been edited and still had an impact.
“I got Chills” ….. Shireen didn’t
"I wish I could see the Targaryens at the height of their power, riding dragons". House of the Dragon, anyone?
Stannis clear says if he were to die " to do everything possible to sit Shireen on the iron throne"!
Na its just badly written
Or its just writers ruining Stannis on purpose and giving his book storyline to Jon Snow come season 6.
I loved here how you showed you are a beautiful woman outside and in! One of the best reactions to this episode ever!🤗
A lot of people accuse Martin for going too far with regard to the atrocities depicted on the show but they fail to understand that many if not all of it is derived from history or myth.

20:58 House of the Dragon : 😏
Drogon felt his mother's fear. 🔥🐉
12:37 well if that can reassure you (a bit), people burnt at the stake died from asphyxia and not from the flames ☠️
And also (but less reassuring i guess), children’s sacrifice was something quite common in Pre-Colombian civilizations, and sometime it was big scale event 😬
In the Hellenic world as well.
Hmm me again 3 things below
1. I thought after Ned and Robb Stark you would have learned that there is no hero that comes out of Darkness and intervenes " The night is dark and full of terrors"
2. Bet Stainnis not as honorable and father of the year as you said he was 5 or 6 episodes ago We all knew this was coming
3. Ummm about the Targaryens and the dragons there is a show called House of the Dragon First season already aired and 2 more years till season 2
Apparently the Dragon CGI took over a year to get this correct for all that in this season, awesome artwork
if a sacrifice isnt difficult, then it is no true sacrifice.
Fell in love with Sofie this episode.
The story she’s reading is the house of dragons.
House of the Dragon is your answer to the show that shows the hay day of the Targaryens.
D&D fiction. this was the first unforgivable sin they committed for me. destroyed stannis's character completely.
GRRM has himself confirmed this will happen in WOTW. He’s confirmed 3 things. Shireen being burned, hold the door and bran being king.

Why embarrassed?
@@sharonh9239 because men dont cry ... so they say.
Stannis doesn't do this In the books, but you also have to understand that Stannis isn't acting this way just to take the throne. The whole objective is to beat the white walkers. People will have to die to make it happen.
If I’m not mistaken this episode aired on Father’s Day which made it all that much worse
Father's day, thats ironic

This is depressing af
wait till you see the last season. you will remember me!
Doesnt happen in the books
@@bobafett9348 So?We're talking about what happens in the TV show.

9:15 That is beautiful! ❤😭
want to watch targaryen in their prime time- i can think of a show that just finished it's first season

@@PelosiStockPortfolio Geeze! I spoiled myself the 1st of those 2,I didn't even like that person and yet that death was the only thing that made me burts in tears in the whole GoT!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
worst part is they didnt have to. show runners decided to deviate from the books. yes it hints that might be what the red lady has in mind, but it doesnt actually happen in the novel. at least not yet. and i dont think book stannis would allow it
While Shirleen's death is horrific and should bring anyone to tears.
I can't help but wonder why it wasn't the last scene of the episode.
What the fuck?
Sofie watch the new Game of Thrones House of the Dragon. It’s set something like 150 years before. With the Targaeryens as you said.
You can react to house of the dragon to see Targaryens
Can't wait.........
Those screams still haunt me.
Dragons, you haven't seen anything yet! Good reaction.
I fast forward through the “princess” part every time I watch this episode
This doesn't happen in the books, just like Sansa's wedding. By now the showrunners are just trying to shock the audience.
Probably will tho.
@@marcusanark2541 Yes. Maybe circumstances will differ but the end result will be the same. It will be as heartbreaking. Not only heartbreaking but also screwed up as the sacrifice of her life will probably be made to help someone else. I’ll say no more.
@@marcusanark2541 She's not even with Stannis and his army in the books.
@@ArcanistBlack I didn't say she was, I think Shireen will be sacrificed by Melisandre and her mother without Stannis knowledge, as George R.R. Martin way to thematically express his views on integrity, sacrifice and hypocrisy as Stannis was quite willing to sacrifice the bastard Baratheon boys and the children of others including his own parents for the "greater good" he should face the consequences of his actions and their effect on others by having his own daughter sacrificed to the same cause like the others were. There's a quite strong theory about it here on TH-cam, you could check it out.
