the guy narrating is so intense at the end of his sentences.
it's the best part of the sentence
couldn't stop laughing hahaha
As long as he doesn't end his sentences with 'like', I don't mind!
What a great alternative to standard automotive modes.
This is so cool. I hope we can get a system like this somewhere in the States some time soon (either in an airport or in the cities).
why is he always raising his tone at the end of every sentences
because he's also a singer
@vakeraj It has some major advantages over a rail line: [1] it can go up and down steeper gradients, eg hop over a road and down into the car-park [2] a pod waits for you, not vice versa [3] it goes straight to your destination by the shortest route.
Looks just like an updated PRT to me. It's very similar to the PRT here at West Virginia University
why is he yelling?
Trump.
very nice, I hope it will be going under my home in the future
They're adorable!
Excellent :)
That is a nice little system...see it working only in very spesific situations and i dought it will be replacing the public bus any time soon, But for small spesific tasks like this looks great could also see it being an interesting novalty in larger shopping centres, or padestrianised high streets. Or hell park and rid.
Great video!!!!!!!!!!!!
man i love technology!
'Johnny Cab' (from 'Total Recall') almost comes true! ("The door opened, you got in.")
I think those are a great idea! Can't wait to try them out when I go and see my uncle in Britain this year! :)
hilary benoit have fun!
so cool
I love this video
YES.
Need to expand the heathrow pods to more of heathrow area airport.
This is very cool :)
Still.... personal service is nice.
Kind of like the self service checkouts at supermarkets...
If these things are gonna get this guy ^ off the road, then I'm all for 'em!
Uniqueuniverse- you're talking about 4km with luggage, you expect people to drag heavy suitcases around along the busy roads that surround Heathrow??
good one.
cool stuff
this is the one reason i still use check out lines with people rather than self check out. some people need these jobs to earn a living instead of being displaced by machines/tech/computers.
yes, but will it blend?
It's not a robot there's guys under the tarmac pushing massive magnets around.
what if scenario-a pieace of trash blows onto the track and the pod recognizes it as something blocking it's path ,so the pod decides to stop til it is removed by a janitor/groundskeeper. so your trapped in a pod out on the bridge by a piece of trash for 30-60 minutes.as the pods computerized voice says- in a minute like bobby on king of the hill. : )
@kninja41 In this footage I can see that these litlle cube's are very slow
The real name was Gaypod but for outside press use they temporarily changed that. Total GP1 - 21.
it probably will only run in reverse too XD
@SCL0PS Nice idea, but I'd suggest the London Eye - better background views, and it gives you a 30 minute trip instead of a 5 minute quickie...
I hope Indonesia will has it.....
And England belongs to the United Kingdom, yes. British people use the term 'Europe' to refer to the landmass on the other side of the English channel/North Sea, where things work differently, i.e. people keep right, pay with Euros, have high speed trains etc. etc. It's therefore a whole lot easier just to refer to Europe instead of having to name every single one of those countries.
Looking back i dont even know why i posted what i did.
Is That the new iPod ?
MAD
come to singapore, we call it ''sky train''
Cool, but they still need to fix the baggage retrieval system.
Sweet
17% or 70% more efficient?
ludeman I know!!
They seem to work ok empty....what about with passengers?
id rather have one of these instead of a car :P
imagin BBC's PodGear haha
@MikeoWar Dude, you don`t got it when I said this thing is not the future of mass transport.
I don`t see how busses, subways or any sort of transport can be replaced by slow-moving pods that carry only four people and need expensive rail structures to operate.
According to the video, this pod is told by designers to be the future of mass transit. No need to tell that it won`t be. And stop trolling if you don`t even know what you`re talking about.
@NorthWeezy2010 Off course, to program and build the robots who will create these machines. Not as assembly line factory workers.
cool
@PcGamerPaul As long as i dont end up having EVERYTHING automated I don't worry.
Although I think it's a cool and handy thing, seeing this gives me a 2nd thought: We, the workers will no longer be needed with techniques like this. Now it's bus drivers, next the truckers with this Google car experiment in the USA, next...
Imagine the robberies in these.
just wish they would get on with a third runway
I'm pretty sure Heathrow is in London and London is in England and England is in Europe.
this is exactly like a train, but shorter
You've just replied to a comment from almost a year ago.
Whaaaaaaaaa-
now thay just nee them to go faster
*stab**stab*....Walks blatantly away.
British airways and TAP Portugal please fly to Heathrow from Porto its bizarre and exetremely jealous that we don't have a single flight to the biggest airport of europe. Frequencies, 3 daily 21 flights a week
wrong place to bitch - try complaining to the actual airlines dick brain!
couldn't they make a better design for it....
I love shit like this.
Nothing against the reporter, but it almost sounds like he's trying to hold back rage. XD
when your out on the bridge in the podz and having a heart attack how do they reach you in time to save your life when the tram will not recognise your in distress/collapsed on the floor clutching your chest going i fallen and i can't get up. ooops so sorry the tram must conclude it's trip before stopping. : )
@vitorfray
Nope, since it's already happened.
@NorthWeezy2010 That's right. That is what people are meant to do, not repetitive, mind numbing jobs.
It would be even more efficient if it groped your junk and X-rayed you while in transport.
Hello. You're in a Johnny Cab!
What the kind of story did I just read...
Hi future.
@SCL0PS A week?
What if it escapes ?
I like all these comments, they are hilarious. Only on the internet can 4 people who have never met have an argument over whether or not Heathrow airport is in Europe. xD
Logan's Run maze-car
@TheBoyofnothing How is it dangerous? Keep thinking like that and we will never advance.
That's the future. All menial, repetitive jobs will get replaced by automation. Jobs involving repetitive, boring and sometime down right humiliating tasks should be seen as an insult to human dignity. Human minds should be used for creative thinking and innovation, not as control mechanisms for relatively simple tasks.
It is true to say that someone is only capable for only a task of driving a bus is a reflection on the current state of humanity that needs to be changed.
They're just Johnny Cabs
@vitorfray
How can we meet the future, in the present? That's like knowing something before you know it. And if the future is the present, does that mean we're living in the past in the present?
Doesn't make sense, does it? That thing, those transport pods, they definitely exist within the realm of time we call the present. We can't invent something before it's invented, therefore we cannot create something that doesn't exist before it exist.
(Would I get an A if this was a philosophy test?)
@MikeoWar 0:07
Regardless of how cute they are, why do they keep right? Heathrow's not in Europe! :O
uh yeah, duh. It looks like a bus, right?
@RedTailedTuna 5 people can go on it
Great idea, however it won`t be long before some scrote will litter them or wreck them and I hope they are fitted with cctv to film and catch them red handed.
if it breaks down theyll have 2 wait a week 4 the japanese 2 make it there 2 fix it
@TheBoyofnothing cars are crazy dangerous
Challenge Accepted.
No, looks expensive to maintain and install. I'd scrap them.
This is all well and good, but the real question is, why do they drive on the right? :P
more jobs people could be doing earning a living and generating income to spend at other businesses.to make the economy continue at all levels
one question what do the passengers do if they have a medical emergency but there is no driver to communicate this as the one and only live passenger collapses on the floor of the pods. pure genius death/murder by pods.
if only u can drive it
TOO SLOW...
HANDS IN THE AIR > > > WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I call bullshit on 21 pods more efficient and replacing 50,000 bus journeys..even a kindergarten student will tell you that the math don't add up...
Just shut up and take my money.
в России такого и не будет, зимой заметет эти автобусы и направляющие дорожки снегом,...
OH SHI~~
An arbitrary choice between two equivalent options isn't grounds for national pride.
Heathrow Pods is cute?
this kind of machines...will put people that dont have much of an education out of work......
of course i want to know how many people have sex in these cars....
+Jeffrey Scott Only those that suffer premature ejaculation are going to be able to get their end away within five minutes, I would think.
Sue Mead welll... 😏
I think the narrator needs a re-training. Why he gets so tensed up at the end of each sentence? :-)
it all makes sense, until keth gets in it
...top gear anyone?
@SCL0PS I´m on my way XD
4 people hate the earth =(
