I feel for ZZ and the nights. We always pulled 12's and from 7 till 7 was rough but we sure yanked knots in the asphalt running nights but I'm a day worker and never had a chance for evenings; always days or nights and nights were usually just building up stockpiles but we made up for it by loading and weighing ourselves. Lots of tonnage and I think we could pull 10 loads and still stop for 30 minutes. Days were maybe 8. So NICE sawing! My pal at his saw shop was getting 10 white pines taken down and my pal with the sawmill had a truck load of fresh logs so he'll be sawing too. Happy week and God Bless!

Greetings from Mönchengladbach Germany. The license plates are funny. I guess the spruce was a good day for you and the customer. The sawdust goes to the horses. My Heart jumps for joy. Best wishes to ZZ Mark. Nightshift in a weekly change to early or late shift are the pure poison. I have made it approximately one and a half year for the Netherlands PACCAR company DAF in the Engine and transmission Department. Shiftwork is hell and burns you out. I have not any difficulties to start work with the Rooster Yelling till sunset. But Shift? No way!

Mark; Taper to logs was originally only designed for the straightening of log to the heart of the log in quarter sawn timbers as this minimised twisting and bowing, thus your not fully using taper to its correct purpose so then have waist when sawing. Am I correct or not, thus wait your reply or explanation so others can understand taper also. We used taper in quarter sawn timbers on a manual mill as it was easy to do to maximise linear board feet with minimum wastage because was always cutting from centre to outside of log where you are cutting from outside to centre.
The system we used was to split the log in half over the cut down saw then once split then came to the table to be split into quarter and then quarter sawn into lumber feet of various diameters thus maximising linear feet. I know with your automated system it is hard to do what we did on manual saw mills.
Keep up the good work guys.

Hey Mark and Eddie! I definitely share your excitement and enthusiasm for being able y to I saw some fresh cut logs for a change. You guys have definitely paid your dues with old logs over the past several months! Really enjoyed the beautiful hard maple log that you sawed last time. It is a shame that you couldn’t have cut the entire log into shop project material. The beautiful bright white boards would have made some outstanding butcher block counter tops! By-the-way, did that second oak log get struck by lightning? Thanks for another awesome sawing video and keep the fresh logs coming!!! Take care!
