In this video, we discuss the accuracy of an analog oven thermometer. Thermometers are not intended to be left in the oven when cooking; doing so will cause the thermometer to become less accurate over time.
Any good Refrigerator/Freezer thermometers you recommend? I looked up a couple Rubbermaid, Taylor keep popping up but all the reviews say they are not accurate🥴
hi there! we generally use a laser thermometer. We will open a jar of pickles in the refrigerator, and point the laser inside the jar. This gives you an accurate reading of the current temperature in the refrigerator. Use something like this: amzn.to/409dexX
i used a cheapo oven thermometer just like Fred shows and it was not accurate at all - oven set to 350 for over an hour, cheapo read 425, IR digital read 320 - which one is accurate?
Hello! It's hard to say for sure which one is more accurate. In theory, digital will be more accurate and faster. You'd need to introduce a 3rd thermostat to check these two that you're questioning.
We suppose. Just as long as it can take the heat of the oven it might work. Though, I would recommend using a thermometer made specifically for the oven.
As soon as my oven was done preheating I checked my thermometer and it was reading 425 for a 350 setting 🥴 so now I'll need to bake it longer so I can recalibrate my oven sigh....
NO, the problem is not with the user but rather thermometers that are cheaply made. I tried them from the cheap to the fancy and the former are not only inaccurate but also very slow to warm up to the
AND Thank You for not talking 10 minutes and creating this short and to the point video, very much appreciate it!!!!!
Very welcome :)
thank you! I was going crazy on Amazon looking for a thermometer and reviews varied widely! Now I know why!
Great video !!
Couldn't figure out why my pretzels kept burning on the bottom. Thank you for the help!!

Would you telling me what is the brand of thermometer that is accurate one?
They are all usually accurate. I would advise sticking to a brand you know and avoid anything from wish or temu.
can a food thermometer be used for oven temperature

Let it continue to run for another 15-30 min and see if the reading stabilizes.
Can we use this oven thermometer in a microwave ?? any informed person can answer...
No. If you want to test the temp of the food in a microwave remove it and use something like a meat temp probe.
