Good video. A little secret. There is an allen screw on the bottom. Insert allen wrench and turn it until it turns freely. This will dislodge whatever is lodged in the disposal. Also drop a 1cup baking soda and 1 cup vinegar about twice month and it will keep it clean and and fresh. Every now then drop half lemon with running water to smell lemon fresh.

The Allen technique didn't work too well for me. I'd free it up, but then it would get stuck again.

@@TheCrawlspaceCraftsman, thankfully it was still working but I could hear the system rubbing on the nail. So I did not have to deal with same amount of 'yuck' as you. Once I removed it from under the sink, I could see down into the blade area and I was able to pry out he nail without having to split the case like you did. Surprisingly, it was a smooth operation and all is well. Thanks for your video insight.

I just took one apart like this one. This one was locked up and I replaced it from my Mom's house. I put a shot of WD-40 on the nut and tapped it with a hammer and with the allen wrench in the bottom, where previously it wouldn't budge, it turned freely. This was hardwired so I connected a a cord and plugged it in and it worked good. My question and the reason for watching your video was to see if I needed to add any sealer when I put it back together, and I noticed that you didn't. Thanks

  • @theshindigg

If you’ve got it removed….Try to turn it upside down and spin the unit with an Allen wrench. It’s usually dead center on the very bottom. That might help clear out any jam and let the crap fall out. Hope that helps… if not… you may have to replace at that point.
