I heard this piece performed by a few pianists and here are my opinions: * Kissin - Too dry, mechanical, no life * Guida - Dry, cold but artistic at times * Brendel - Smooth, a little boring * Yucham Lim - Youthful tone, very clean & precise timing, strange poundings, dry, lacks lyricism * Aurrau - Very warm and lyrical, maybe too romantic, no cold moments. * Richter - strange loud thumps, a little slow tempo, overbearing to listen to * Gould - eccentric, in his own world * Gilels - Perhaps my favorite, I like his sense of space, not too harsh, not too wet or romantic, but it could be more lyrical
I want to play at least one instrument and im looking through the history of all pianist, violists and all other people who played instruments... and im starting to think piano may be the best for me.
@@MrMattouven I don't think he's talking about Arrau's sound. It would be a terrible ignorance. Because he had the most beautiful sound ever in cosequence of his unique thechnique of relaxation.
Rarely heard of a piece is played with such devotion. The interpreter, the music, and the sound seem to form a sense of unity.
Comme toujours Arrau est magistral, authentique et profond. Beethoven peut être fier de lui...
Fantastic interpretation. Master Arrau always magnificent.
At the moment of thrill I was there !!
With the highest respect ...

This is a great comment. Thanks for sharing. Also thanks for staying away from hero-worship.
A good lesson for objective judging. Thank you!

I love Arrau, but man, that var. xiii was laboured :D
He loses the rhythm which should never happen with beethoven.
Buenas noćhes se esta acabando la catga de mi cel
Terrible sound.
Yes...the recording itself could be a little better. I surely hope you arent speaking of Arrau himself!
