The fact that you're so talented but you're not wasting that talent and you're teaching people just inspires me. I think I speak for everyone who watches your video's when I say we can't thank you enough for taking the time and effort to show us the complex things you've learned and even the simple things. And he actually explains stuff. A lot of the time when I see artists do tutorials I feel like they're more like "learn how to draw better" instead of "learn how to draw". I need to know the guidelines and the rules before I can make my imagination come to life. That's what drawing tutorials should be about, actually teach someone all the extremely basic stuff and how to implement that in something I want to draw. Schafer's playlist is honestly the best one I've seen.

I have just discovered you today and I really like your videos . I started from the "learning how to draw " series. I want to learn how to draw and how to paint but I am on the search of a teacher or school. This would be perfect to be able to attend the school of fine arts, but I am already working as a dentist and I don't know how I will find the time :( Anyways, you are doing a really great job! Keep on :)
I can appreciate that you aren't drawing amazing things in these tutorials. By that I mean, it's rather simple and closer to what I would draw, and that makes it a lot easier to understand I think. Usually I give up trying to draw pretty early on because I get frustrated that I can't draw as well as the teacher. But in this case I feel like I might even be able to get better than these simple drawings with enough practice. It's a long journey from the beginning I think, but tutorials like this really make it seem like a possibility for a beginner like me to get better.

@@SchaeferArt Wonderful! You should definitely visit! I'm not Malay, so I don't speak Malay well, but I do know a few phrases. Singapore and Malaysia are multiethnic (primarily comprising of Chinese, Indians and Malays, as well as other races), so we know a bit of one-another's languages :)
Whenever I watch your sketching tutorials, I feel okay to make mistakes and mess up. My eraser is always ready, but I feel like I could make my sketches really rough and it'll be a-okay. And thank you so much for making these tutorials free. You certainly could've made money with your tutorials, but that would've cut off access for a lot of people. So again, thank you!!!
Its definitely pay to make mistakes, that’s the way to learn! And absolutely, I want to reach as many people as possible, not monetize my audience :) although I do make money from TH-cam but its free for you to watch! Best of both worlds.
Hey man I cant begin to tell you how much I'm enjoying your videos. The time you take, the different examples used, hell even the natural cadence in your voice. Anyway thanks man my son and I are learning to draw together and I'm using your videos as the lessons. Keep up the good work I'm hoping to see a video with some patron info. Keep this guy making videos folks.
I"m blown away by how amazing your videos are! I feel like I've struggled with how to wrap my mind around these "basics". The techniques- the mindset- since I was little. A lot of family members just seemed to natural just draw master pieces out of thin area, and I was homeschooled (no art classes or the like) so I had no idea! This is so helpful, and I really am so happy to be able to watch! (: Thank you; thank you.
I enjoy these so much it's so easy to follow I might just be stupid but there's times where i'll watch a tutorial for art techniques and something will be described and for whatever reason it just goes over my head but following this I fully got what I needed to do and honestly got a tiny bit emotional after accomplishing it I tend to get easily frustrated with my drawing I get weirdly OCD with as I'm sure a lot of people do but I pushed myself passed that mindset and applied these methods and it came out looking decent i've essentially proved to myself that if I apply myself I can do this I can become better at art so thank you for these videos
Paid for a beginning sketching course on Udemy.. lost me in first video.. These low stress videos exactly what I was looking for . Thank You !! Teach me like I'm 3, then I will progress at my own pace.
i just happened to be here now, fortunately, and i really love how he did draw as if he was a beginner so that i, as the first time to ever learn to draw don't rush to get the perfection and don't get the anxiety if it wasn't good enough. i remember he always said "have fun with it get rid the perfection mentality".

In my 20s now, I was still drawing caricatures like I used to when I was 7, until I recently decided to refine my skills properly. Your drawing series are JUST what I needed. I can feel my technique improve just with the first 4 videos in this series. Huge thanks to you! Love from Singapore
So glad to hear that :) Good luck with your art! I can't wait to come to Singapore one day, and Malaysia too. Do you speak Malay? Apa khabar?
@@SchaeferArt Wonderful! You should definitely visit! I'm not Malay, so I don't speak Malay well, but I do know a few phrases. Singapore and Malaysia are multiethnic (primarily comprising of Chinese, Indians and Malays, as well as other races), so we know a bit of one-another's languages :)
Now i know how to draw
Whenever I watch your sketching tutorials, I feel okay to make mistakes and mess up. My eraser is always ready, but I feel like I could make my sketches really rough and it'll be a-okay. And thank you so much for making these tutorials free. You certainly could've made money with your tutorials, but that would've cut off access for a lot of people. So again, thank you!!!
Its definitely pay to make mistakes, that’s the way to learn! And absolutely, I want to reach as many people as possible, not monetize my audience :) although I do make money from TH-cam but its free for you to watch! Best of both worlds.
Please this is translate in Hindi ...
Thanks for the kind words, Glad they are helpful :)
Thank you! You've given me more direction and understanding than anything else I've read or watched!
This was NEW to me.. the world of drawing is opening up to me! Thanks for the videos, learning alot!
You’re the best TH-cam method teacher I’ve ever seen
Paid for a beginning sketching course on Udemy.. lost me in first video.. These low stress videos exactly what I was looking for . Thank You !! Teach me like I'm 3, then I will progress at my own pace.
I had an ad just now lol udemy
i just happened to be here now, fortunately, and i really love how he did draw as if he was a beginner so that i, as the first time to ever learn to draw don't rush to get the perfection and don't get the anxiety if it wasn't good enough. i remember he always said "have fun with it get rid the perfection mentality".
I stumbled upon this video this morning and I can't imagine what a jackpot I've hit! Thank you so much for this lesson and of course all of your other lessons. This has been the best.
I used this lesson of yours in an art exam about 3-4 years back and got an A on it. Thanks a lot!
This is so helpful, thank you. It has never quite clicked like this for me before. Really appreciated.
My teacher in art class makes this sooooooo complicated whereas your demonstration and explanation is waaaay understandable and. simple. Thank you!
Supremely helpful video. Finally learnt what 1 point perspective is! Thanks a ton
You're very welcome!
