Sorry I don't think the OR was the original it was the Imperator Nikolai I, the terror of Tier IV which until about 3 years ago could send pretty accurate shells and one shot any battleship if they showed their broadsides
The Oktober Revolution is certainly a neat ship, although its basically the TIER 4 Soviet BB at tier 5. Like any Russian BB, when her AP hits IT SLAPS! Bow and Stern are EXTRA THICC, even Yamato can't pen that STRONK Soviet Steel, at the expense of her side armor. The turrets turning opposite directions lets you do some silly stuff like fire on both sides of the ship if you time the turn of the turrets right. PFFFT, the CREW mutinied over being denied macaroni, that is hilarious!
Giving me ptsd from dealing with a division of 3 Nik's earlier today. Played them in 3 straight matches and just logged off for the day because they'd just blow through everything.
Well... Nikolai is older than Okt Rev, and it's way stronger. And Gremyaschy is now kinda powercrept but when it was released it was incredibly powerful, probably the best DD in its matchmaking spread (it was one of the three early access ships that you could get in bundle with the game when WoWS launched in 2015, so it's ultra ancient). And then there is Bogatyr, have you heard about that thing? The T3 tech tree russian cruiser. I can say without any fear of being contradicted that Bogatyr WAS the most OP ship in the game bar none, until commander rework basically killed it for good.
@@freedan48blackstar35 it's mostly great for history buffs. But pre-commander rework Bogatyr was like Smolensk at T3. I had a 170k damage game with that thing, AT T3

OR is fun and a cash cow and a good commander trainer considering it's tier 5. In the hands of a good commander, it's 55-60% random game WR material despite the uptier factor. Have had many games where I was top of the leaderboard in tier 7 matchmaking games. Hundreds of games in this ship, I highly recommend her.
Correction: She doesn't has Soviet BB's dispersion gimmick, she uses USN BB's dispersion. Because at that time, WG didn't has ideas of Soviet BB's dispersion gimmick yet.
The Oct. Rev. still has more HP then the Novor 1 tier higher, the turret layout is still better (for pushing) than the Izmail, at least it has 2 turrets that swing forward, where the Izmail only has 1.
October Revolution is an underrated BB. She's one of my favorite BBs at T5. Her guns are reliable, she's maneuverable, and putting Kuznetsov on October Revolution makes her very potent adversary at her tier. Her AP may not have the punch to citadel BBs but she sure can give enemy cruisers some devastating salvos (short fuse AP on her?) When on the defensive, her HE is pretty good as well. With her maneuverability and armor, she can kite pretty well too.
something interesting to think about is the first ship to use iron hull was in 1839 called the nemesis but the first iron clad ship was the Monitor in 1862.
@@JP-su8bp the Glorie had a wooden hull so wasn't considered the first ironclad. that being said she was the first ocean going ship to use iron armor. I'd have gave it to her but I don't decide those things.
Gloire was the fully Iron plated warship and HMS Warrior and HMS Black Prince were the 1st true ironclads (built between 1859-1861) and were infinitely more complex and powerful than any of the US Monitors. The US Monitors were pretty much shallow hulled, riverboats and not ocean-going ships. They were designed for and pretty much only capable of harbour warfare and had very limited offensive capability. Even before this designs had been made for ironclads and there were all sorts of theorys, but the British saw no need to start trying to build them until Gloire was built. So Gloire kicked off the arms race and Warrior was the 1st. US Monitors became the inspiration for later river monitors and shore bombardment monitors - kind of a separate line of development.
The Okt. doesn’t uptier well when facing ships 2 tiers higher. But then and again I wouldn’t let it discourage any would be captains because let’s face it, nothing does well being double uptiered. Save the bugs in the sky.
Take a stock Ryujo into a double uptiered game come back. I'd rather have a t4 dd on the team because they'd have a higher chance of actually doing something useful
@@l7986 I gone through the Weser vs T8s and while it was harder it ain’t really impossible to get dmg in. Maybe I should give Ryujo a go still, Haku at the end look pretty sweet.
it does better than other tier 5 BB, 12 guns with good accuracy AP good enough to slap Cruisers along decent HE and it doesn't get overmatched by even 15/16inch guns thx to being covered in Plating that also Stops most of HE Texas or NY get far shorter end of the stick
I saw footage of some Russian soldiers in Ukraine. They were in a house they had occupied. They could not believe the house had Nutella. They were all like: "Dimitri, come and see the Nutella! It is glorious hazelnut-chocolate feast!". So, the macaroni mutiny does not surprise me one bit.
Majority of battleships in WW2 barely did jack shit. Majority of them sank their countries economies and sank themselves because all they did was power projection. The sinking of Bismarck and Yamato was a financial and logistical catastrophe

Meaning they actually did have said power, considering the planning and massive allocation of resources that it took to sink them. And that includes the Bismarck, along with Tirpitz, Scharnhorst and other legendary warships. All of them caused more damage than their cost.
@@mihaitha The British chased down Bismarck because they literally had nothing else to do anyway in the heat of WW2 (it was also Hitler’s favorite ship, so destroying it would be a massive blow to Germany). As for Tirpitz, it didn’t do much shit because Hitler was afraid to lose it but the allies were afraid of it regardless fearing that it may appear attacking the convoy. The Bismarck probably just costed as much to sink it (HMS Hood was old and outdated by that time), and Tirpitz was sunk with a massive fraction of the budget to build it. Don’t even let me get into Yamato and other battleships that died unheroic deaths
Really this (or one of her sisters like Marat) should have been the tech-line T5 ship and they should have put the Imperatritsa Mariyas at T4 - that way we could have got the only two completed Russian battleship classes into the game. It would also lead very naturally into the Izmail, whereas the Pyotr Velikiy feels completely out of place - which is not surprising seeing as it's a German Battlecruiser design sitting in the middle of a line of Russian ships...
The Soviet camos are better than most of the (typically rather hideous) themed camo, but I won't use camo glamorizing a criminal regime. If you do, it's a free country, or at least it should be. (I think the game should definitely allow the Germans National Socialist emblems, especially if it allows Soviet....and I wouldn't use those either..... But, in the end, it's a game, right? :)
I have this ship, I don't use its fancy camo, as 23 of my family members were executed in Soviet union in late 30's and burried in place like Sandarmokh. Therefore I refuse to use the camo. Ship itself is nice and alternative camo is nice.

Imperator Nikolai in the right hands is a devastating ship. Gangut is totally OP in tier 4 but Imp. Nic. makes Gangut look like a second-rate bb.
I think he didn't mention imperator because it is does not have all Soviet bb gimmicks

The Nikolai Tier IV is a rare premium ship. It’s a monster in 4v4 Brawl

Yes a great BB, I bought it by mistake when it for came out, lol what a good buy.
My Clemson had no issue ripping those up in Brawl. It's down right busted in 4vs4 combat, especially if the enemy team is mostly BBS.

the real Russian bias began allready with the not obtainable tier4 imperator nikolai. The oktobraskya isnt close to be the first russian biased ship.
I always wanted this ship back in the day. But now, when I see the state of the low tier, I don't even want to play anything below tiers 5
