The Breakfast Skillet can make two huge breakfast burritos or three normal burritos. Wrap in foil and set in the coals while you are having your first cup of coffee. Taco Bell hot sauce and you have a beautiful pairing with a crispy tortilla shell.

Beef Strog never lets me down. B&G is a close second. Chicken & Rice is actually pretty good as well. Had these for 8 days straight and experienced no ill effects.
If you ever ate M.R.E.’s , you would think mountain house was the best thing since sliced bread!

Here is something for you guys to try. Make up a breakfast skillet and a biscuits and gravy. Grab your tortilla and make a breakfast burrito using a few spoonfuls of each. Of course with some hot sauce. It’s actually pretty good and super filling.

Biscuits and gravy is also my favorite. Really like the Chili Mac but I'm a gas machine afterwards. Really like the spaghetti with meat sauce as well.
Its all good stuff. The 2 guys are pretty picky there won't ever be a 5 Michelin star camp/survival meal lol

I had to burn the cheese off my spoon with my jetboil after eating the lasagna. Had me really questioning it.
Honestly surprised that Breakfast Skillet turned out to be the complete opposite of what everyone was expecting it to be. And bringing tortillas and hot sauce to compliment it, total game changer.

Had the breakfast skillet in the bush for 3 days straight. Took some franks in the sack and it helped it. No explosive exit haha. Nice vid, I'll have to try the B&G next time.

This is expensive guys, I didn't hear the cost of what you ate, but it's close to $80.00. Maybe more, The way to go is fix your own meals, vacuum seal them in safe boil bags, freeze them and these survival bags become obsolete..
This is great and also how I went to decide what I take. I would like to see brady's"bar diet" or y'all do a test of his "bar diet" and discuss calorie need vs. taste
Lasagna and breakfast skillet that’s the one I’ve tried so far. Tomorrow ice cream sandwiches and biscuits and gravy.
Oats Blueberries and powdered milk is awesome. Neapolitan Ice cream sandwich is also good. Eggs and Bacon is good. I've only tried a few so I put the ones I like best.
I just had the lasagna one and goddamn it was good. I give it a 10

I haven't had mountain house in a long time. My favorite used to be spaghetti and meat sauce. Going to try stroganoff and b&g the opening mule deer season in Southern California

Beef stew is good. Chicken and Dumplings is surprisingly good as well. Being from the North I had never had that as a meal, but upon eating it it’s pretty much a chicken pot pie mashed up in a bag. Very tasty and hearty. All of the MH meals could use black pepper or sriracha added, they do not need any salt.
Honestly I was kinda surprised to find that most of them didn't really like the chili mac. Personally I like the chili mac alot and I think it's pretty close to fresh chili mac you'd
buy at costco or make for dinner usually I would add a little less water for chili mac and most of the other meals just to ensure that the meal wouldn't become to watery and lack of flavor, which for me made the chili mac turn out pretty delicious, but I guess that not everyone necessarily likes beans alot or chili stew in general. I felt like it got a bit too much of a bad rep.

Chili mac doesn't smell like you're not hunting the next day.....it smells like you'll spend the next day hunting for an outhouse
That said, its good that you mentioned the cheese sticking to the spork issue with the lasagna, its a long standing issue with that meal and one the manufacturer should really do something about as it has the potential to be a sanitation issue if people aren't aware of it and don't have the right cleaning gear with them to get the cheese off of things.

I honestly think mountain house gets better the further down the line up you go! My personal favorite being chicken and mashed potatoes. Reason being that the chicken cooks surprisingly well if you tear it up before you cook it. And it’s garlic cheddar instant mashed potatoes which is a go to for the back country anyway

Thanks for sharing guys, I will keep that in mind here soon when I go and pick out some food like these Mountain Houses. I have yet to try them, but with my Dad, youngest bro and I's first ever trip out west to Idaho I am sure we will have some in our packs, I know my brother does already. I would have to agree with Chilli Mac being the bottom just based on being afraid of spending one of the days of the hunt flushing my system. Not cool, I had to deal with that while in a bass tournament after eating some bad McD's. I agree with bringing some tortillas and hot sauce for that breakfast skillet one, that would make it even better. Oh and how can one not love Biscuits and Gravy, I get excited every time I see that on a menu and have to order that with some sunny side up eggs. Looking forward to what you all think of Peak Refuel.
We find our flavor profile with dried veggies and dried meat without seasoning so we can flavor it ourselves. That sodium content would require a days water ration lol
I took your advice for the biscuits n gravy, here it is 8 am in a tree stand 20 degrees i pull it out and eat, great recommend

I know this is an old video.... but to each their own. Stomp around in the woods long enough and these guys would rate every entree a “10”. Mountain House does a pretty good job putting these together, but as good as they are, they are not “high cuisine”. They are meant to be a shelf stable, lightweight easy to prepare (good tasting) meal in a pouch. Mountain House does a good job at this.
Thank you very much. I was worried about all of those picks; especially the eggs. I already knew about the Chille Mac and it seems that is the same with all of the survial food brands.. Patriot was rated the worst. This is of course eatting straight out of the bag. When you do use them in the skillet; It is how you mix and match your plate.

Mountain House used to be affordable at $5-7 dollars per packet. Now those same packets sell for $8-10 dollars
Say, you guys should follow this up with the desserts! Mountain house has a couple kinds, as seen in my local Walmart. I foolishly bought the ReadyWise 32 serving kit, thankfully on Clearance for $20. I'll keep it in my Xterra for emergencies only. I will get Mountain House for my hiking and camping, definitely..

Bisket and gravey for the win. So last year with the Chad Mendes Peak craze I waited on the back order list for 2 months my order showed up and we went camping. The Elk Rago pasta is the absolute worst I've ever tasted. I'm going to try it one more time maybe I got a bad batch or something. But if it's the same, I honestly dont know how anyone could eat it
Pretty funny and fun comparison. I tried the chili mac once and almost vomited. Reminded me too much of hamburger helper which gets the same reaction. I bought up a ton of MH to thru hike the AT next year but now will have to postpone at least a year. I'll have to check my dates on all the non MH meals and eat up those but my MH meals should be good to wait a few years. I really like the B&G too and have lots of Stroganoff too. I love their granola with blueberries too and I don't like breakfast so that was surprising! I found this while trying to find info on the new curry and pad thai flavors! Happy hunting gentlemen!

Chili Mac is a NO GO! Biscuits and gravy is bomb. I almost exclusively eat the peak refuels the chicken alfredo tastes homemade!
Should do this test by eating the entire meal on an empty stomach and wait 24 hours to get full effect. Bland is better I'd bet.

WAIT, hold the phone....so dude on the right(green hat)gave the breakfast skillet a 5 after her downed it when it was prepared with no special directions, just needs hot sauce BUT he gave the B&Gravy a 10, TEN even thought it's a temperamental preparation & I need to take an extra page of directions, treat it like a baby & read it a bedtime story!?! Yeah ok. Biased. No hate😅 made me laugh. We can all be like that at times.

I've eaten all of them on many hikes and hunting trips. Never had a problem. I bring extra spices with me. How was your hunting trip in Wyoming?
