    Wonderful! Bought back great memories. I ended up in Page by mistake as I missed my turnoff to the Grand Canyon. Best driving mistake I ever made because I got to see Horseshoe bend. Such a magnificent part of the world.

    Thank you so much for sharing these videos. I almost feel like I have been to these places. I know I will never get to see the ones you hiked to so a special thank you for those. I loved every one I have seen and look forward to seeing all of your videos. I just love the way you have made it such a pleasant feeling trip. The view of the road as you travel and the sound of your voice describing the view and the family shots make it so wonderful. I hope you make many more, happy travels and I hope someday to see you on the road.

    Hi love the video! I have a question for you, do photographers have to pay a fee for using their own dslr cameras ? Also is there camp grounds close by that people can use and how much?

    • @TravelingRobert
      @TravelingRobert  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have something called a photographer pass which is more expensive but you can take your time. We stayed at the Whaweap campground which is on the pricey side $60 per night. There are a couple other campgrounds in the area which are closer and probably cheaper. Thank you.

  • @RobertLWard

    Going there next year. Hitting up 6 national parks. 3 i Utah and 3 in Colorado and ending our trip by seeing Monument valley and staying in Page. How was this resort in page? Pricey? any other places close to the water. We will be looking to stay in a hotel there. So you can just show up and see lower antelope without reservations? Great video!

    • @TravelingRobert
      @TravelingRobert  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The RV resort we stayed at was on the pricey side for a campground at $60 a night. There is also a hotel. For lower antelope you can just show up. For upper antelope you have to reserve a tour at Page and they take you in a Jeep. By the way, I just did a quick search and it doesn't look like there are any other accommodations near the water.

    • @RobertLWard
      @RobertLWard 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Robert, just wanted to say a quick thank you on the above advise regarding Antelope canyon, Our entire trip visiting 6 national parks was incredible. We decided to visit Antelope canyon X, which is a little south of the others and loved it. Great video series. We are thinking of doing a trip similar to this for our next summer family trip. We are considering renting an RV but I would prefer not to drive a large size one (especially since there are only 3 of us). What are your general impressions of RV rental after doing it on this trip? Did you save $ versus renting a car and staying in hotels? What are things you didn't like about using the RV? What are things that you really enjoyed about the RV? Thanks in advance for all of your info and opinions!

    • @TravelingRobert
      @TravelingRobert  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      kswaiz Hi, and thank you. First of all it isn't cheap. The RV was about $200 a day + gas (8 miles per gallon or so), so you don't do it to save the money but for the adventure and flexibility. I'm going to start with the pluses. You are traveling with you hotel room, so you only unpack once during your whole trip. Need to use the bathroom? Just stop at the next available place, no need to deal with dirty gas station public restrooms. You always get a room with a view. Nothing like waking up to the sunrise by a beautiful sandstone mesa. Most campgrounds have great views, and if you decide to boondock the sky is the limit. If you change your mind halfway through the trip and decide to change your itinerary, losing a campground reservation is a lot less expensive than a hotel room. Driving the RV is easier than it looks. You adapt after a while, just keep in mind all the time your length and your height. The only negative for me, besides the price, is that you can not take the RV everywhere. I would have loved to drive on the dirt around the Valley of The Gods or Monument Valley myself instead of taking an expensive tour. Also the interior of the RV can be a little run down due to all the punishment it gets. Otherwise I have no regrets. An RV is certainly not for everybody, but the only way to find out, I guess, is by renting one. By the way, this area of the country is very RV friendly. You almost see more RVs than cars, most of them rented by German tourists. Well, I hope this helps you make a decision, and I hope you enjoy your trip as much as I did mine.

    • @kswaiz
      @kswaiz 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the great info. How many days did you travel for and with how many people? What size was the RV that you rented? How much did the campgrounds you stayed at cost on average for this particular trip?

    • @TravelingRobert
      @TravelingRobert  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      kswaiz The RV trip was 7 days, three people. The RV was a 28-foot Class C, and the campgrounds ranged from 26 for the national and state parks to 60+ for the Wahweap resort. Goosenecks State Park was virtually free. Something like $6.
