I managed a pro shop for almost 7 years, and the vast majority of people’s claimed handicaps, were way off. Not to mention, many people are claiming handicaps, while playing lift, clean, & place, gimme putts inside 4 feet, mulligans, etc lol.
In reality tons of people tell me their handicap and almost everyone is wrong and sand bagging. What most don't realize, its the 8 best scores out of 20 so most people will say they are a 20 cause they normally shoot around 90. When in reality that could be as low as a 16. Plus there is course rating and all that to add in.
This is so true!! I’ve talked to People and they tell me they are a say 7 handicap… but we go golf and he shoots a 95 and uses a mulligan off the tee but ya know that don’t count, or they take a 5 foot par and pick it up, but of course every time we golf they just had a bad day
We have several players at my club who deliberately keep their hcaps high , so when they go into pairs comps usually play to their real hcaps and usually do very well thankyou. Everyone knows these cheats but it's impossible to call them out as you can't prove it .
About 98% of the ppl I've played with in my life cheat. "That's good"..."that should've fell in"...."my handicap is X so I can only take a 7".... "normally I get this"...and on and on. It's truly remarkable.
Not many people like being shown up by a young player Logan! My son is 13 like you and has a GA of 4.6 and a lot of low handicap older players are very distracted by a young lad who can not only score better than them, but outdrive them. I'll bet that's what you do to your playing partners! Cheers from Sydney - Dave
I played a league that kept our handicap on GMN(golf mobile network app)my base was a 11.4(w.e that means) but my teehandicap said 12 just always assumed I was like a 20 because I usually hit 89-93 consistently on 18
Kinda like other things we men lie about, but don't ever think that the truth will be shown eventually once it's game time. I suck and I freely admit it!
Hey Aaron! It does allow putting, and the putting is good but it takes a lot of getting used to. I recommend autoputt to anyone who plays on a simulator regardless of the device because it helps you get better faster and play more holes.
@@GolfBusters Definitely agree! I used to play in a winter sim league and always used auto putt. Looking to set up my own soon but I think I will want to set up a putting practice area separately like you've got yours. Of course it's a lot different than real grass but it would help with consistency over time I think. Also - sick set up, I'm planning to emulate the panels which IMO look so much better than netting!
It’s easier to have a lower handicap generally at harder courses. They’re suppose to be level with the slopes & rating but it’s still easier to shoot 6 over for a scratch round at a tougher course than 4 under on an easy one.
So a couple of things, the 10' gimmies on the green, and times where a ball could be lost or in the woods. In reality it probably is 3 to 5 strokes easier a 9 depending on how your tee shots go.
It's more than 3-5 strokes I think. Chunked shots aren't penalized as much because the club just bounces off the mat and still strikes the ball decently. There were 10+ shots that realistically the ball would have barely got off the ground. Fun video though!
Intramural golf, in the Air Force, for many years. I held a nine, and played a guy that claimed a 15. I shot an 73 (82-9), and he shot a 63 (78-15). I got beat by ten strokes by a "much worse" golfer. I got him banned, and he got in serious trouble for cheating. The Squadron Commander didn't like sand baggers, either.
@@jd67543 - He shot 10 strokes better than his handicap. He was rifling in 2-irons from 210 yards. He hit EVERY shot as a very low handicapper. He never hit a bad shot, the entire round. This DOES NOT HAPPEN with a high handicap golfer. Absolutely he was lying..and he got smoked for it.
@@GolfBusters it depends on who it is. I sandbagged out of necessity. I mean truly I got my handicap by playing the hardest couple courses possible always from the tips. So my handicap was legit. Maybe just didn’t show what I’d shoot on easier courses. So technically I didn’t cheat and it’s just how it was done. If I was, playing people for money I’d usually tell them. I wasn’t trying to cheat people just even field in tournaments
@@Lovetheducks yea but on tough courses from the tips you can shoot like 6 over for a scratch round, on an easy course you have to shoot 3-4 under for the same “scratch” round.
Right more like a 13 .. that swing with the driver where he looks like a caveman killing his lunch! And that short game is Not single digit skill level ..
The ball ricochets are ridiculous, nice job on the look of the simulator but terrible job on making a safe simulator. Never seen any simulator this unsafe. Also, flightscope?? Are you sponsored by flightscope? All the money went into the room and not enough into the launch monitor or research of how to prevent ricochets
Hey Average golfer, thanks for the comment. The richochet is not as bad as it looks, the blue pad on the bottom slows down the balls enough that while richochet does happen, no one has ever gotten hurt and the ball has never even come back fast enough to leave a bruise. As far as flightscope, I have 4 different launch monitors and have fully tested around 8, I built this simualtor on a tight budget and as a lefty FS was the best option. After testing almost every device it honestly is my favorite under 5k, the carry is as consistent and accurate as any device, it gives more data than any device in that price range by far, and is easy to use for lefties like me. I am not sponsored by flightscope and actually make more commission off other devices. I think a lot of people confuse price of a unit with how good it is and Flightscope is still my favorite unit to use for 90% of the time i'm playing.

Finally man I’ve been waiting for you to do videos like this KEEP THEM UP!!! This will be the next golf TH-cam channel
Thanks man!
Hit "B" on the keyboard when your in the trees. It removes the Block to your ball that sometimes helps. Cheers!
Great tip, thanks Wes!
My guesses - Travis is def a 20+ handicap not a 15 and Jock is closer to a 7 not a 3 Jon is a 12 not a 10

100%
I get paired with a random golfer and he said he was a scratch golfer and at the end of the round he shot 21 over par and blamed it on me. lol
Must of been lying, probably a +6 HCP in reality.

I know there was no putting in the video for time, but does Mevo+ allow putting? Does it track reasonably well?

First video of yours I’ve seen. Great stuff. Different from the other content on here!
Thanks!
Love the vid idea! Different and great job of entertaining throughout the whole video!!! 2024 is your guys year!! 🍻
Thanks Jared!
Wow the quality of these videos is getting so good
Thanks!
Is a low handicap cap 15 and 12?
I think a low handicap is a must single digits. Or maybe a 10 if your home course is a hard course.
It’s easier to have a lower handicap generally at harder courses. They’re suppose to be level with the slopes & rating but it’s still easier to shoot 6 over for a scratch round at a tougher course than 4 under on an easy one.
Nice job, Jock and crew! Keep it up!
Thanks DJ!
What sim and software do you have to be able to play Diamond Springs ?
They're using GSPRO
You said simulators will play 3 strokes better for 9 holes. Where do you think the 3 strokes come from? Would it be the 10' gimmie?
So a couple of things, the 10' gimmies on the green, and times where a ball could be lost or in the woods. In reality it probably is 3 to 5 strokes easier a 9 depending on how your tee shots go.
You always get a perfect lie in sim golf and can easily plot/plan your shots. 3 holes seems very generous - I'd say 5-8 is more realistic.

@@GolfBustersI think it helped you guys by about ten strokes at least. It’s super forgiving out of the trees and rough.
@feloniousfloyd2203 I think max 10 on 18 not 10 on 9
More videos like this! Super entertaining stuff
Thanks Nate!
"trees are 90% air, right?" ... yes, but so is a screen door..
too much fun. great vid
Everyone is lying about their handicap 😂 dang
Especially Jock Buffton, screw that guy
nice friend group. well done ty

Good job Derek
We got the dub
I feel like it's closer to 5 easy, i'm a 13.1 in real life and play 1-4 on the sim
How is it that none of these guys can hit a fairway?
Swinging as hard as you can makes it harder to hit a fairway.
I once kicked (punted) a 35 yard field goal with my car keys. Definitely my best athletic accomplishment.
that's dope
I sandbagged my true handicap every chance I got. I played about 4 strokes lower than mine lol.
What’s worse, the sand bagger or the one who says he’s better than he is? Also go Dux
