That brush marker was giving Jim an almost 'Alex Raymond' kind of feel. I nearly fainted!
Cool to see Jim trying out the brush pen along with his usual markers. The effect was a lot softer compared with his regular sharpie.

Was this in response to Neal Adams dying? He and the late Dennis O’Neil did that classic story where Batman and Ras are fighting shirtless.

I agree tbh. He's always been shown as a playboy womanizer type in the comics. As a gay dude myself, I like the representation, but not with pre-established characters that don't need changed after 81 years of comic circulation. I'd rather have new characters with compelling stories rather than pandering fan service that does nothing to add to the character than slap a label that doesn't really matter in terms of plot. Bruce Wayne is a playboy because he's troubled and can't commit to just one person because justice comes first and loving someone will only put them at risk- making him bi or whatever adds nothing to that.
@@yourfavwonch Exactly. You’re actually being reasonable and presented a rational argument for why an established character should not be something he never was. They refuse to create new characters that stand on their own, so they resort to doing these gimmicks that they think appeal to most people when in reality it doesn’t.
I used to sketch habitually as a kid. Watching this inspires me to grab a sketch book and get back into the habit. Thanks for sharing. Alex Ross's channel has some sketch work, as well. It is fun comparing techniques.

@@jaepeso3550 Agreed. I dazzle at the watercoloring ability that Alex brings to the table, but Jim Lee's drawing ability is hard to match. It's an incredible form with so many talents. The age of YT makes me envy the youth of today. A 10-year old me in the early 80s didn't even realize they scaled down the art. Try drawing a three panel book on an A4 sheet turned sideways and folded in half to make two pages, so your teacher could run off some prints in the teacher's copy room for you on the sly.

I'm glad I reached a point in my drawing skills that I can do what he does, granted it's not AS good. But being able to quickly do an outline then detailing it super fast is a fun thing to do

And screw C. Nolan for ruining people's mind with the bad name pronunciation. Fakers like him are the reason Ra's never got to have his Lazarus source in his lame Batman movies. The guy was a mystic besides mighty swordsman and ninja lord.
