@@automotiveantics That I full well believe, I emphatically do NOT believe there are many 02 ws6 out there with 21k sorry lol. Bought my Sunset Orange 2001 WS6 Trans Am off the show room floor. Still have it. My T-Tops do NOT leak, but, I've only had them off the car maybe 10 times in 20 years. Still has the original exhaust - 69000 miles and 20 years later.
One of my T-tops flew off last week going down the interstate! I forgot to latch it back after riding without them on a Saturday. Talk about depressing! Luckily i got a replacement within 3 days for 130$!
@@tonymickens8803 That's funny, I really like my '00. I think if you got an ls6 block, then 01-02's are the best. But a non ls6 block Ws6 is kind of a toss up between the '01-02 and '00. Everybody knows the 01-02 got the ls6 intake, which is awesome. And a lot of people don't know that they got slightly better heads. However, the '98-00 got better Ws6 suspension parts, a better cam, a less restrictive catalytic converter, and omg better wheels. The look of the wheels is subjective (however, I think the 01-02 wheels are really ugly), but what isn't subjective is the 01-02 are flat aluminum, whereas the 98-00 were polished aluminum, making them shiny. Which I think is cool. The most noticeable thing about the Ws6 suspension differences, were the Decarbon shocks. They are all orange, no matter what year or trim level (all Trans Ams have orange Decarbons). But the 98-00 Ws6 had stiffer valving. They softened the suspension somewhat in 01-02 because the moms and dads that could afford these cars brand new were complaining that the ride was too stiff, supposedly. Anyway, sorry for the novel, but if you aren't going to change the cats or the cam (cats for legal reasons, cam bc that's a pain and a big mod), I really like the '00. Better wheels, better suspension, easier to throw an ls6 intake on it and be better than an '01-02. But if you are going to build one of these cars, '02 is probably the best. If you're going to change all the suspension parts, cam, heads, long tubes, probably aftermarket wheels, then it's better to start with an ls6 intake and have a chance at an ls6 block. Just my .02
I was a specialized technician at the plant where all !992 to 2002 trans am were built. It certainly wasn't the employees who named the car a WS6. Also, are you aware that we also made the "Firehawks"? A higher performance trans am that were individually numbered after they got a suspension, exhaust, wheel and other upgrades to increase engine performance by 70 to 80 hp. And yes, if you didn't purchase the car with uni directional tires, the computer locked the car at 110 mph.
The LS1 cars (1998-2002) with the good tires were also limited, to 260 km/h (162 mph). Jacques Duval ran a '99 Firehawk with the limiter removed via a Hypertech programmer and achieved 275 km/h (172 mph) on the Blainville test track for a magazine article, I have the video of this. I have to disagree with you on the 70-80 hp increase for the Firehawks... the LT1 cars got about 20 hp more in rating (how much of it was real?) and the LS1 Firehawks were rated no more than maybe 15 hp over the equivalent WS6... chassis dyno results certainly didn't show significant improvements over the non-Firehawks, and my all original 1998 WS6 that I bought new certainly never lost a race ever to a Firehawk at Napierville Dragway. By the 90s and 00s there wasn't much room for improvement over the excellent product that was engineered by GM. I'd be inclined to think that the SLP ratings were more marketing than real improvements... even my all original 1998 Trans Am Ram Air delivered more rear wheel hp than would be expected for the 320 hp official rating. (and on an SLP dyno at the Lasalle location on top of it. :D ) You say you worked at the Boisbriand plant... I took a tour of the plant in June 1998 the same day my car (black 1998 Ram Air Trans Am 6 speed) was assembled. The tour was given by a gentleman who I think was also named Robert but I can't remember his last name. He was a thin middle-aged man, responsible for the tours in those years. Would love it if you could remember it and tell me his name. I got to spot my actual car on the assembly line while on the tour, but had to settle for riding in the passenger seat of a red 1998 Ram Air Trans Am 6 speed during the emissions check procedure at the end of the assembly process. What an incredible sound to hear the LS1 manually going through the gears at wide open throttle on the rollers in the emissions check shack! I could hardly stay on my feet when I got out of the car. Proud to still own this car, a product of chez nous!
I had a 98 trans am beat the wang out of it traded it in on a truck when I got married and had our first kid. Couldn't live without one bought another a few years back all black 34,000 miles bone stock. Slowly adding bolt ons full exhaust, shifter, etc. The end goal is complete suspension heads Cam and Magnuson supercharger.
If you cam it, I recommend keeping your stock catback/mufflers. If you must upgrade the catback, get a "touring" system. I have an 04 vette and my first upgrade was Corsa Xtremes. Car sounded amazing. Once i put longtubes on it became way too loud. Then I cammed it. Its now louder than a Harley Davidson, which is cool at first but it gets old very quickly.
I have a 1999 30th Anniversary Trans Am #861. I bought it used, second owner, in 2002 and have owned it ever since. It has 42,xxx miles. The t-tops don’t leak. They hardly come off but I do take them off occasionally. Still no leaks yet.
I'm on my third 4th gen LS1 WS6 , all modded. There are downsides to some mods , even when they work , as intended . My last car had a great Strano handling package, with Bilstein struts/shocks , progressive lowering springs , sway bars , double adjustable panhard bar & LCAs , on 18" wheels. It handled amazing , perfectly neutral , oversteer on demand, and immediate turn in. It also hit the bump stops , on some dips , and I had to be very careful, not to scrape. That's any lowered vehicle, and the suspension worked as intended , exceeding all expectations. I put Airlift drag bags in the rear springs, and all was well. The one I drive now is modded for acceleration. It has a 6.0 LS2 , forged , CNC , big cam, NO 250 shot , Yank SS3600 stall , Performabult Level II 4L65 , Moser 12 bolt , with a TruTrack posi , full suspension, relocated mounting points. Its a pita in heavy traffic, because it wants to launch. It gets a lot of fuel from the 80lb/hr FAST injectors , and it doesn't like to creep . It surges a little , on the big cam (244/246@0.050") and that hasn't been able to be tuned out . The posi locks, like a spool , with power on , so it handles a little different, when the rear slides . The stall makes it hard to modulate the throttle , to adjust slip angle , when sliding the rear. Its either unresponsive to slight throttle, or has a massive response, when you wake it up. Not much subtlety . But , its quick. It dead hooks , from a dig , foot braking . It will lift the front wheels a little . It runs mid 10s at 130. The Procharger will be going on , after the first of the year , and that may have a downside too , but , it will be fun. It will put a smile on my face. That's the one thing that never fails to work out . Eventually..
I’ve worked for GM for 17 years on the assembly line. Yeah, we do that with all the codes on the manifest. I’ve heard that dealerships do the same thing which is probably why people are so adamant they know what it stand for.
I have a 2000 Trans Am WS6 and a 2001 Camaro SS and both of the t-tops do not leak I keep them covered and I take care of them I've had my Trans Am for over 20 years now since new and I will never depart from those cars.
I have a 2001 Pontiac Trans am WS6 white 6 spd. Bought it when I was 20, I’m not 41… lots of money spent in my car over the years. New motor, replaced all front suspension with Spohn upper lower control arms n Chrome moly, put bbk headers on years ago. N now currently putting QA1 dual adjustable shocks/struts at all 4 corners, along with adjustable torque bar and Panard bar n lower rear control arms.
Ws6 in 1978 was a suspension package it included heavier sway bars and wider wheels and tires. W72 was the performance package which meant Pontiac 6.6 TA 400 cubic inch engine.
I have a 02 Trans Am Firehawk with 50k miles. Loudmouth I exhaust, ML headers, high flow cats, smooth bellows, bilstein shocks, eibach springs, SLP strut tower, sway bar, subframe connectors, SLP underdrive pulley, P&P throttle body, 3.73 gears and a tune. I’m guessing it’s a low/mid 12’s car, absolutely love it!
I have a 1999 red WS6 and my tee tops definitely DONT leak. Till today-/now it’s still my favorite car of all time. 80k Still rides like The first day I drove off the lot! 👍🥃✌🏼
I’ve had a 97 WS6 since 2001….got a 140,000 Kim’s on it, and even today the T-tops don’t leak…and I have them off most of the summer. I do condition the seals regularly though. Love my T/A…
I bought a 2000 WS6 new and I always thought WS6 was just the RPO Code like the Z28, so I think you are correct. Everyone also likes saying the the Olds 442 meant 4-barrel, 4-spd, & dual exhaust, but it's just the RPO. When you get customers and fans making up names for RPOs you're doing something right, as people really like the car.
I have the 2002 Trans Am WS6, Pontiacs Swan Song to their last ever Trans Am. I bought this car with 33K miles on it in 2021, it's showroom condition. I have all the papers and codes used on assembly line. Yes, WS6 is the Total Performance Package, ya..I dug deep for the meaning of the WS6 package. What I came up with was this: W= WIDE S= SUSPENSION 6= COILS For what it's worth.. this biotch SCREAMS around CORNERS, AND HANDLES GREAT. Don't be fooled, the 2002 WS6, with the Corvette Z1 packaged into the Ram Air unit, a weight of just under 3,500lbs. The 2002 Trans Ams 2nd gear power band is its Bread n Butter!! She hits 82mph in 2nd, and squaks into 3rd laced up in Mickey Thompson Street Comps, off the line this Fire Chicken more than holds its own vs any of these modern muscles! And that 2ND GEAR POWER BAND IS WHAT DOES IT. From 0-80 she runs with them all.. MODERN Muscles Ci, and more liters wins out just before that 1/4 mile marker. ( BUT, THOSE 2002 BODY LINES, AND THAT NOSE ON THE LAST FIRE CHICKEN... TURNS HEAD EVERY DAY I DRIVE IT!
I had a 2001 TRANS AM it had a Green to Blue Paint scheme and Convertible Tan Top. I loved it I wish it was RAM AIR but it was a Awesome Car and I believe it was the start of the Mucle Car Rebirth.
I have a 2002 TA Convertible in Maple Red Metallic. It is not a WS6 therefore it rides better and still has the LS1 motor. It is 1 of 9, the rarest color code of 2002 in a convertible and Firebird of that year.
As a 38 yr parts guy and 25 yrs at GM dealerships, I agree and you are correct...It's only a RPO code and the letters stand for nothing most of the time. That being said, GM people on the line did use all kinds of different nicknames to help them remember all the different options used.
This exact car was the beginning of my love for street racing i always thought the ws6 was a performance package but i do believe you it makes.since its an rpo code thanks fornthe information great video
nope, it’s just an RPO code. i had a 1999 black ram air as well. easy mod was to knock out the baffle in the ram air hood and install the bracket to match up to the intake to help pressurize the intake air. So, the faster you go, the more power you get! And a K&N air filter to deal with any potential water(rain) issues from removal of the baffle. there was still nostril baffles directing the air down
I had an 01 WS6 in pewter metallic from brand new. Only real weak point was the rear dif. Broke it twice. Had an electric exhaust cutout. Now I have a 2017 Camaro 2SS 50th anniversary edition.
@@markrothe5903 I'm sure they did. I was 18 and in high school. Not able to swing expensive parts on top of the cost of the car. Had the rear dif replaced under warranty. They finally stopped after 2 of them broke and voided my warranty lol.
WS6 / Wide Suspension 6 speakers, is my thoughts on this subject. I bought my 2002 TransAm Ram Air WS6 new from the factory in 2002. The only changes that I’ve made are a cold air induction, a 3” Borla Cat Back exhaust system & a Diablo Sport Predator 2 Performance Modular System specific for my engine .
I got my 98 ws6 in 98 right off assembly line 6 speed black did all mods you did but put twin turbos on it which the waste gate stuck in a race I won anyway but blowed up the 98 motor so now it has a 2000 corvette motor left off the turbos everything else the same if done over would have put supercharger screw type on instead of turbos, motor started out with 27 miles on it was a pull off motor off the GM assembly line for some reason would not work on corvette but didn't hurt it for trans am 98000 on body only 23000 on motor. Needs shocks miner things and check rear end. I love it I'm 63 years old
The secret to keeping the t-tops from leaking is rubber/leather conditioner for cars, I had an 85z28 with original t tops that leaked until I tried that, hope it helps
I had one from 2000 to 2007 and I was told from a guy that worked at the Montreal outfit that did the WS6 upgrade for the Ste Therese plant cars that it meant Work Sheet No 6.....I don't know if it's true.........the only problem I had was with the front fog lights were shorting out from water infiltration
The WS6 was around long before the 4th gens. My guess is it was an employee thing and GM management caught wind of it and decided to brand the car as a WS6. You dont just slap an RPO code on the rear bumper for no reason.
I bought a 96 TA WS6 a couple months ago. All stock. My T-tops don’t leak surprisingly. Drivers side door window on the other hand. That’s a different story.
I have a 2001 metallic silver ws6. T tops never leaked. Terrified to take them off though. Original rubber seals. Named her The Shark 🦈. She's still a beauty and I have tons of guys trying to literally buy her out from underneath me while driving. The funny thing is they always start trying to talk to my husband about buying her! I also have guys knocking on my house door at least once a month trying to buy The Shark out of my driveway cash on the spot. This is my dream car!
1994 formula WS6 with 32,678miles with a 4l60e 2ed owner with paper work. Definitely a RPO cod. suspension up grade. aluminum drive shaft, disk rear brakes, upgraded front brakes, upgraded Bill Stein shocks, 150 speedometer, 1st gear lock out performance transmission button, big rear wing, upgraded factory wheels, factory external transmission cooler. I had a 1994 lt1 formula v8 with drums in the rear, steel drive shaft, small front brakes, standard wheels, small wing 110 speedometer. RPO COD SUSPENSION UP GRADE. brakes gm blue shocks
What about the wheels? And the bushings? If we're talking 70s what about the A-arm braces? Steering box? If we're talking 4th gen (90s/00s) what about the Ram Air hood and air box? And the bigger exhaust? :D And what exactly would have made this suspension "wider" than the non-WS6 cars?
The WS6 has been my dream car since I was a kid, bought my first one at 20 years old back in 2009 and still have it. The GM dealership I bought mine from told me that WS6 stands for Wheels, Suspension and 6 speed transmission which is the upgraded parts package. GM NEVER made an auto WS6. BUT! Because so many people wanted them the dealerships started making Automatic trans WS6’s by swapping hoods, wheels and adding a emblem. So technically Auto WS6’s are not the real deal lol.
Well I hate say but your dealership is misinformed. GM DID make plenty of TRUE WS6 models with automatic transmissions. Not sure why they would tell you that🤷♂️
Real Steel Cars man I’m going to be real pissed off if I find out I was wrong lol. I’ve had a few friends with auto WS6’s and they had no “WS6” code on the door so until I see one, I stand by the myth I was told lol
I have a 1997 trans am ws6 it has 84000 original miles and t tops doesn't leak they have never been taken out looking to possible trade for older trans am
I just bought a 1998 ws6 t-top and surprisingly, the car has a 139,000 miles on it and in great shape. Doesn't have any leaks on the t-top nor cracks on the door panels. For the mileage, the car looks almost new.
I think I had heard WS6 was Wide Suspension 6 pieces in a car magazine back in the day but can't remember which one... I also had heard that it was a code for an upgraded performance package... So whatever it was it was Bad Ass at the time and still Bad Ass now... Have a great day...
WS6 suspension has been around a long time but it seems to be getting a lot of attention from the late 90s into the 2000s which in 2002 was the last year production of the Pontiac Trans Am and even sadly enough the Pontiac division of General Motors is gone. I own day 1988 Trans Am GTA with the WS6 suspension.
WS6 Is the RPO code for a ram air Trans Am, WS9 is for a non-ram air Trans Am, WS7 was the RPO code for a Formula Firebird, and WS4 is the RPO code For a regular old plain Jane Firebird. All that information is right in the build sheet, and the sticker around the door and is also available through GM. School is out now, hope this clarifies things.
In all the confusion regarding to the "WS" codes, we need to realize that they mean differently for each generation as it varies from the 2nd gen to the 4th. In the 70's the WS4 means the vehicle IS a Trans Am and the WS6 started in '77 as a enhanced suspension option. By '79 it included rear disc brakes as part of the package. For the 80s the WS4 is a merchandising option package for trans ams while the WS6 is considered the level III suspension package. Bare in mind you still can have a WS4- trans am and still have drum brakes. Apparently from the 3rd gen to 4th gen the WS6 code became more then just suspension as many believe that the WS6 meant RAM AIR induction system. While it is part of the deal it is still primarily a suspension option along with the 17" wheels which was included over the standard 16" which were on regular trans ams w/o ram air.
@@carrsllccarrillo6507 WS6 started in mid 1978. For the 4th gen it was a "performance package" instead of a handling package as in previous gens... it included the suspension bits (springs and shocks and bushings and sway bars) and also the Ram Air hood and induction parts (bigger airbox, etc.) and also a larger exhaust system and the larger 17" wheels and tires. SLP blurred things a bit by offering various Ram Air hoods and induction systems on cars such as their Firehawk, Comp T/A and eventually the factory-sanctioned WS6 itself, but by 1998 Ram Air and WS6 were pretty much interchangeable.
Mines not a WS6 but I have pretty much cloned it. 17 in wheels, SLP lid with the ram air hood and intake, Holley throttle body, Bmr front springs and lower control arms, rear control arms, pan hard bar, and drilled slotted rotors (front and rear). Besides doing all of the usual maintenance (rear main seal, solenoids in the Transmission, rack, etc.
Jay Leno agrees with the Wide Suspension 6 pieces-4 of 1 thing & 2 of something else, but I forgot what they are. He covered it on his WS-6 GM gave him for his involvement at at a race track promotion.
Even Jay Leno perpetuates the WS6 "nickname" in his video on the 2002 (which he describes as "the best Firebird of all times"). I have the Formula trim (mid-level between base and Trans Am) with the WS6 designation and 6-speed manual ... I suspect this might be a bit of a unicorn. And the T-tops don't leak!
Jay Leno said that it stands for wide stance 6 parts, the parts were the two thicker sway bars and the 4 coil springs. I don’t know if that is what it stands for but that is what he said, when he was driving his 2002 trans am.
If WS6 stands for Wide Suspension 6 pieces, what does WS9 stand for? This vid shows two code door sheets. The first one, right next to WS6 has WS9. My 99 Formula WS6 also had that. It's just a code. Just like LS1. Also in the code sheet.
WS9 is 3 better than WS6. :-) LOL (I really really wish people would use some critical thinking about this "what does WS6 stand for" thing... I mean, it's just a basic RPO code! Next we'll be reading that the Z28 is Zero-Emissions Two 8-cylinders or something like that LOL)
On that paper tag, next thing on the list after WS6, is WS9. There are 53, three letter codes on the list. They are just RPO (Regular Production Order) codes describing the options on the car. Just as the Camaro Z28 is just the RPO code for the performance car from Chevy. Interestingly, the Vega GT was RPO Z29. That stood for, "leave off the undercoating". When the assembly line workers saw WS6 on the build sheet, they knew to put on "these springs", heavier sway bars, disk brakes on the rear, and the all-important emblem on the back bumper. The original WS6 meant only "rear disk brakes", and it was not marked on the car, just the build sheet.
Original WS6 was suspension only (rear disk brakes showed up a year later, in 1979). Different springs, (maybe shocks?), sway bars, bushings, a pair of small lower A-arm braces, 8 inch wide wheels and 225mm tires. In the 80s the rear disk brakes were not tied to WS6... you could get WS6 with drum rears (I have one such car).
Got my 1st ws6 last year. Yes t tops leeks. 2001 with 60,000 miles. Moter is stock. Lots of fun to drive. I like it better than the 1982 firebird i had 20 years ago that i had to sell because we just started a family.
RPO codes don't always stand for something, acronym style. H2X is black leather, H2Y is same leather with perf, GAN is silver paint, GAZ is white, GPJ is a burgundy... every part and paint color has an RPO code. So do option packages.
I have one, the T-Tops still don't leak. You needed to put subframe connectors on to keep them from twisting from hard launches and everyone launched these cars hard. Also WS6 is only the RPO code.
I have a regular 2000 Firebird and I wish i had gotten the WS6! I want one so bad! and...my T-tops do not leak! Never have! What does leak is my driver side door hinge is weak, therefore my door has a slight heavy angle making the window not close/ seal all the way near the front hinge of the door. Water will sneak in and drip down the top of the window/door seal.
I have a 2002 Trans Am WS6 convertible, 4 speed auto and it had 7500 original miles on it when I bought it. You are correct, WS6 is the RPO code for the optional performance package of suspension and exhaust upgrades, nothing else. Too bad GM could not give it and the Camaro a true dual exhaust and let the LS1 breathe better.
Not a ttop or ls1 but bought a Frankenstein like 1997 trans am ws6 packaged v6 that has had a freshly rebuilt ls9 cammed 5.3 swapped into it rust free for less than $1800 running and driving
Great video! But nobody should be leaving comments below regarding leaky t tops, cause these bad birds should not have their feathers sprinkled by any forms of weather water.
I have 2000 ws6 t tops don't leak a drop but door windows do but only in carwash I'm having slave cylinder problems planning to drop transmission this winter other than that it's almost a perfect car
I have a 84 Trans Am WS6 air induction 5-speed t-tops bought a brand new 42,800 miles t-tops don't leak I got a 97 formula Trans Am black T-tops LT1 rebuilt tranny and rear the monster MAS Racing suspension all the bells and whistles my wife won't even drive it
There couldn't be any meaning behind the WS6 rpo code because those six pieces weren't available in mid-1978. That was the year the WS6 made it's debut. And of course the rear disc brakes got added to the package in 1979.
At 51 years old, I've always wanted a Trans Am. I finally bought a '02 WS6 in December with only 21K miles on it!
Congrats that's awesome!

I’ve owned my black 02 WS6 trans am for nine years and I love everything about this car, best car I’ve ever owned. Total badass!! 👍🇺🇸
That is the BEST Year imo.
Just my .02
Jay Leno did a TA WS6 video about 2 ~ 3 weeks ago & he also called it "Wide Suspension 6 pieces" but he wasn't sure himself to be exact.
I just watched that yesterday. Talk about a pristine car.....
I came here after watching the Jay Leno video...
This car looked aggressive but when it came out it could back it up. That thing was fast and not many cars could keep up with it.
I bought a 2000 pewter T-Top 6-speed new, and the tops have never leaked. But, it has only 4,000 miles on it and has never seen rain.
You say you worked at the Boisbriand plant...

Facts check!!
my grandfather no joke has a 2002 ws6 with only 12k original miles. completly stock. its absolutely gorgeous.
I have a 1997 WS6 Trans Am and the T-tops don't leak. Love the car.
I'll say it once, I'll say it again
WS6 Stands for- Wildly Sexy 6
Yes!
Nice!
Agree. Z28 Was originally a RPO code that became a model.
WS6= Worth some 6 figures
Definitely not haha
In a few years
Let’s hope “not yet” cause I want another one 😂
Just bought an 2002 Pontiac Formula for 6k with only 116k miles.. absolutely love this car
Damn bro that thing sounds crazy!...but awesome haha
I’ve owned 2 and both never leaked and I always had the tops off and on.
I’ve worked for GM for 17 years on the assembly line. Yeah, we do that with all the codes on the manifest. I’ve heard that dealerships do the same thing which is probably why people are so adamant they know what it stand for.
I had a brand new in 2002 Trans Am Firehawk...always had the T Tops off on nice days and nights...no leaks and I live in Michigan
I have a 2000 Trans Am WS6 and a 2001 Camaro SS and both of the t-tops do not leak I keep them covered and I take care of them I've had my Trans Am for over 20 years now since new and I will never depart from those cars.
98 T/A tops never leaked and I'm in Florida. Wicked Shifting 6 speed!
Love my 02ws6. Gotta love it. Ram air hood and ls1 was what i love. Bolt ons are amazing on the ls1. That stance...........
My '79 trans am has that package. Front sway bar 1.25" good size in rear too.
I had a 91 formula with T-tops that didn't leak. Mine was triple black with WS6 package.
I had an 86 Firebird, and an 89 IROC... both with T-Tops, neither one leaked
N now currently putting QA1 dual adjustable shocks/struts at all 4 corners, along with adjustable torque bar and Panard bar n lower rear control arms.
ws6 was the code for high performance package starting in 1978.
What I came up with was this:
W= WIDE
S= SUSPENSION
6= COILS
For what it's worth.. this biotch SCREAMS around CORNERS, AND HANDLES GREAT. Don't be fooled, the 2002 WS6, with the Corvette Z1 packaged into the
Ram Air unit, a weight of just under 3,500lbs.
That orange T/A was my desktop wallpaper for a long time. I've always wanted one just like it.
Awesome
02 Silver Ws6, T Tops never leak. I love my car with a passion.
I have a 95 with a 3.4 6 cylinder and 5 speed love that car
GM didn’t make a 12 bolt limited slip available for the TA?
@@markrothe5903 I'm sure they did. I was 18 and in high school. Not able to swing expensive parts on top of the cost of the car. Had the rear dif replaced under warranty. They finally stopped after 2 of them broke and voided my warranty lol.
WS6 / Wide Suspension 6 speakers, is my thoughts on this subject.
I bought my 2002 TransAm Ram Air WS6 new from the factory in 2002. The only changes that I’ve made are a cold air induction, a 3” Borla Cat Back exhaust system & a
Diablo Sport Predator 2 Performance Modular System specific for my engine .
Monsoon has 10 speakers, I believe. (8 in the convertible if I recall, hence my decision to stick with the T-top car when I ordered my 1998)
Had a 96 Formula with T-top that never leaked... Chip and exhaust upgrade gave me 273 hp and 340 lbft... The Formula suspension was AWESOME
I have an 8& with the WE6. Not sure of all the details but it is an awesome time to drive!!!
Love the this TA !
I had a Red 2000 TA WS6 years ago, BadAzz !
My T-tops never leaked, but I never removed them ether 😁
Production code for performance and handling mine navy blue 2001. Bought it new
1994 formula WS6 with 32,678miles with a 4l60e 2ed owner with paper work. Definitely a RPO cod. suspension up grade. aluminum drive shaft, disk rear brakes, upgraded front brakes, upgraded Bill Stein shocks, 150 speedometer, 1st gear lock out performance transmission button, big rear wing, upgraded factory
wheels, factory external transmission cooler. I had a 1994 lt1 formula v8 with drums in the rear, steel drive shaft, small front brakes, standard wheels, small wing 110 speedometer. RPO COD SUSPENSION UP GRADE.
brakes gm blue shocks
Bought my 98 TA back in 03 and my t tops never leak but water does accumulate inside of the rear tail light assembly.
(Wide suspension 6 pieces) 4 Stiffer springs, suspension and 2 thicker sway bars. WS.6 = Wide suspension 6 pieces.
@@TubbaRock lol hey as long as you're happy with what you drive it's all good...PS, check with Hagerty or Year one. They will confirm it for you 👍

I called it ws6 as "Wide Stance"
I have a 1997 trans am ws6 it has 84000 original miles and t tops doesn't leak they have never been taken out looking to possible trade for older trans am
I just bought a 1998 ws6 t-top and surprisingly, the car has a 139,000 miles on it and in great shape. Doesn't have any leaks on the t-top nor cracks on the door panels. For the mileage, the car looks almost new.
Where do yall find these?!?!?! I've been looking around for a while and haven't really found any anywhere near me. I live In GA. Though
My t-tops have never leaked. But I did use spray silicone on them ever year.
Its a suspension "Package" from the old days "My Day" im 60 n had a 79 T/A & 86 T/A I currently own a 2000 10th Anniversary Furehawk!!
I think I had heard WS6 was Wide Suspension 6 pieces in a car magazine back in the day but can't remember which one... I also had heard that it was a code for an upgraded performance package... So whatever it was it was Bad Ass at the time and still Bad Ass now... Have a great day...
2001 SS Camaro. T-Tops never leaked, and I take them off frequently.
I owm a 2000 WS-6 with T-56 an thankfully my T-Tops dont leak!! 😍😍
Real people know that WS6 stands for: wildly sexy 6-speed
I own a widly sexy 6-speed my self.
I have a 96 LT1. I regret some of my shift points. The 2-1 shift happens too soon. It was recommended by my tuner.
I had a 96 z28 wth t-tops,they never leaked, once a year i would condition the seals with white lithium grease never had any issues
My 1989 Formula 350 Firebird is a WS-6 also.
I have a 2000 auto ws.6 T-Tops still don't leak at 160k miles I treat my seals like it says in owners manual never had issue.
Jay Leno agrees with the Wide Suspension 6 pieces-4 of 1 thing & 2 of something else, but I forgot what they are. He covered it on his WS-6 GM gave him for his involvement at at a race track promotion.
I think you should rewatch his video. He says directly that he's not sure if that's true
I bought a trans am no WS6 sadly but my TTop don’t leak when it rains
I had a '91 Formula Firebird with Ttops and'94 Z28 w/Ttops.. neither of them leaked. But I didn't have for more than 2 years each..
As much as I respect Jay Leno, that's incorrect
@@automotiveantics noooo it cannot be. That’s all right I will recover.

I seen one in Jersey city race a mustang on JF Kennedy Blvd and the mustang had no chance lol that TA sounded like an angry monster
I have a 99 built 408 strocker T/A 6 speed.
572 whp. She's fast. This are very fun cars to drive. And sexy too.
ur 100 percent correct... z28, ws6, z71, ect... ALL rpo codes! means absolutely nothing... enjoyed the vid, thank u sir
I appreciate it, glad you enjoyed it 🙏
02 WS6 with No leaks at All
On that paper tag, next thing on the list after WS6, is WS9.
My T-tops don't leak, never have but I take really good care of it. In the garage, no winters.
I had both a 82 Z28 and a 87 Trans Am with t-tops and neither one of them ever leaked.
Have had my 98 Camaro Z28 since 2000 and never had the T-Tops leak
I have a 84 Trans Am WS6 air induction 5-speed t-tops bought a brand new 42,800 miles t-tops don't leak I got a 97 formula Trans Am black T-tops LT1 rebuilt tranny and rear the monster MAS Racing suspension all the bells and whistles my wife won't even drive it
I'm trying to get me an 02 firebird ls1. How much they go for now??
Driving a 08 grand Prix 3.8L v6.
There couldn't be any meaning behind the WS6 rpo code because those six pieces weren't available in mid-1978. That was the year the WS6 made it's debut. And of course the rear disc brakes got added to the package in 1979.
