In this video I tell you what the 5 biggest mistakes I’ve made when it comes to stocks, to help you learn from my missteps as well as to show you that everyone makes mistakes if they invest for long enough, and that you gotta just keep investing rather than quit or worry about it.

My biggest investing mistake was not getting started sooner (I know, said everyone ever). I was 28 years old before I starting making reasonably good decisions in life. I'm dedicating the rest of my 'career' to making sure others don't make the same mistakes I did.
Your channel is helping so many people. I love how you have a lane that you stick to that works well for you no matter what crazy hype is blowing up in the world. I hope you keep it rolling for years to come! I never used to comment on videos, but it's time to do more than smashing that like button (:
I know I have said it before, and this is genuinely not self promotion in any way, but you were a major factor in my starting my channel here. Unlike the 'huge' channels that promote a bunch of garbage. I want to help the every day investor reach THEIR VERSION of financial freedom. You like dividends, I like balance, some like growth. Pick a system, stay the course, and feed the machine!

In 2022 I purchased 8 shares of NVDA and then sold out because one of my friends told me a story about how their chips are not in demand anymore. I sold my position which was around 144 a share. I missed about a 1000% gain on those shares. Even after that I had another opportunity to buy NVDA at 106 a share but didn’t bite because I thought it would keep going lower. I mean their earning still looked very expensive too at the time. So anyways I made a big mistake with not buying and holding NVDA. I did buy META however and I made a good gain on that stock because I felt I had understood the business on META more than NVDA at the time.
This time my dad tried talking me out of META at 95 a share and I told him that they just had a spending problem which could be solved easily.
I think the important lesson I learned was to research the business before I buy into the stock because it will give me a certain level of confidence behind my investment. So when someone tells me it looks bad over there for that stock I can have certainty that I know the company will be fine.
This sounds like a confession but maybe someone can learn something from my mistakes

Just something to think about with NVDA that no one is talking about- the primary manufacturer for all the chips in Nvidias products are made in Taiwan (TSMC) . The same Taiwan that is currently surrounded by the PLA conducting "war exercises" that are getting larger and larger... until it is not an exercise anymore. Just about every plant there has a kill switch which would disable and destroy all the critical machines so the Chinese will not be able to use them ever. How NVDA is still a strong stock with that out in the open is beyond me but many are saying if this invasion does happen it will be on our election year and soon as typhoon season has started or near. Think I will pass on that one till that little hotspot goes away.

Ah, the Commodore 64. My Brother in law had one and I always loved playing Bagman. That was such a cool game. I got so invested in it that I went to the 3rd board to pick up a bag of gold and brought it back to the first board to put it in my wheelbarrow. Cool game.
Apple I inherited from my dad and bought more when the stock split. I have nice Capital appreciation in it.
My kids had Disney and sold it. After the pandemic their stock price dropped, they suspended their dividend. We just thought it would take years to come back. They all bought Nvidia and never looked back.
My biggest mistake was seeing Nvidia go up 3k in my acct only to drop to a negative 2K. It got back up to about 2.5k and sold it to take the profit. Should have only sold half. Now, I have since bought it back and lost all that Capital appreciation.
But I’ve learned you can never look back. As Jim Mora once said (head coach of the Saints) Coulda Woulda Shoulda. You have to look forward.

The mistakes that really hurt you are when you decide to go "all in", and a close second is the "all out." Nobody can know the future well enough to make those decisions accurately, but people do get lucky now and then and start to think they are a stock genius.
I find the key is to keep telling myself, "I don't know" and ask myself, "what if you are wrong?" Then I make small moves that I think are correct, and sometimes they are.
When I make a mistake, I try to figure out why I made that mistake, or "what did I do wrong?" Then try in the future not to repeat that same mistake. There are plenty of ways to make mistakes, I don't need to repeat any of them!

Didn’t really lose money, didn’t really make money. Greed got me. My retirement account has always been dividends and blue chips thankfully. Now, it’s all ETF and dividend payers. Then i watched the stock price do what it did in which honestly i really thought it would explode. But my mindset was never to have to sell any stocks. Anyway after the explosion and i heard about the stock split i bought in after and changed my title from dividend investor to "income investor". I still dont plan to ever sell any of my positions but i wont miss out on income that couldve been made from the lack of knowledge well tunnel vision. Genx, thank you for sharing. Can I ask for some feedback?
My strategy is to buy ETFs when the market is in a bear and buy individual stocks when in a bull. At the moment I have 50% in ETFs (VTI, SCHD, VGT) and 50% in individual stocks, top 10 is COST, AAPL, MA, MSFT, GOOGL, V, AXP, AMZN, MCD, and O (16 in total, no Nvidia). 50% in tax advantaged accounts and half in individual account. 1 yr total return of 22% (still underperforming market by 4% though). Am looking at downsizing the individual stocks to only the top 12 positions and having a bigger cash position for the portfolio. What do you think about this strategy? Am in my early 30s and portfolio size is 65k.
I also have around 15k in cash (emergency fund) but and looking to buy a property for my mom because she’s disabled and I help with her rent and rent prices are insane right now . Looking forward to your feedback.

Most people yer age don't invest, and most definitely are not watching finance/investing videos on youtube -- thus I'm confident you'll be happy over the long run.
