It was very smart of the writers to have the guy who hit Laura as a person who was probably a nice guy who had too much to drink & not just a mean drunk. It showed the audience that it could be anyone.
Yes, you know who else is good. A Character named Anna Windass who went to prison for a Murder Charge although she didn't do it. She thought her Son Gary died and she kept screaming "I Want To See My Son" on Coronation Street. Susan Pratt was always a screw up when it came to playing Mothers. She's the "Bio" Mother of Michelle Bauer Santos on Guiding Light and then teamed up with Carmen to try to break up Danny & Michelle then she lives in The Apartment above The Garage that was also occupied by Holly & Roger, Rick Bauer when he came back and Claire.
Poor Brook she loved ❤ 😍 her daughter so much. I wish 🤞 they still had shows like this today. I loved watching 👀 All My Children with my mom 👩 when I was young.
Totally forgot about this story. I would have been 14 or 15 at the time. So sad now that I have a 6.5 year old girl. I'm crying like a baby right now. I can't even.
I remember when this happened. Skye was in a catatonic state in a mental institution. When they told her that Laura died, she recovered. Skye and Laura were close.
Noticed how quickly Adam rushed to Brooke's side. Hmm.... It looked like he was a little insecure... Hmm.... Just a little! The late David Canary played Adam and Stuart to the hilt. Julia Barr was my favorite back in the day when I would watch the show with my Grandmother during the summer. Hats off to Richard Shoberg as well! Great scene.
Josh Walawski (sp?) was played by same actor, who played Curtis Alden - he was on the show for about a year prior to killing little Laura. The character later came back in 1999/2000 as Eliot Freeman, a Reverend, who came back to town to check on Brooke, but things got complicated when they started to have romantic feelings for each other, and he had to reveal his true identity.
Julia Barr is flawless here. Laura's death defines Brooke for the next 20 years. I wish there was a place somewhere for Julia to come back to daytime - Maggie's sister on DOOL? Monica's sister on GH?
When Barbara returned an alcoholic, they NEVER referred to it as being because of Laura’s death which would have been absolutely perfect to be a tie-in to the past.
There was a lot of blame to go around. Barbara of course but also Josh who was drunk and driving and yes Laura who lied to Barbara about Tom letting her cross the street alone.
I think you're right about Barbara. If I remember correctly she was supposed to be watching Laura at the time of the accident. I definately preferred the Cady McClain Dixie reboot, but the first Will Cooney was great. Now he's a national weather forcaster Lonnie Quinn so I guess it worked out well for him. Lonnie was replaced by Patrick Stewart who had to change his screen name to Stewart Patrick because Jeal Luc/Star Trek TNG already had a Patrick Stewart. Then came Who Killed Will.
At this point Brooke and Adam were married about a year. Adam really loved Laura and considered himself her other father. Yes, he shouldn’t treat Tom like that, but they had a lot of bad blood over Tom’s marriage to Skye.
Adam hated Tom at this point. Tom was married to Adam’s daughter Skye. He had an affair with Barbara. When Skye found out, she tried to kill Barbara. Skye had a breakdown was sent to a mental institution in a catatonic state. The thing that snapped Skye out of her catatonic state was when they told her that Laura had died. She was very close to Laura.
Tom wasn't even giving Brooke time to process. Five minutes after you tell her her baby is gone, your talking to her about donating her organs? He was grieving too I know, but give her some breathing room.
Goldenrod636 Cady McLain unfortunately. I was 12 years old when Kari played Dixie and I loved her. When she was replaced I hated the character from then on and I never forgave AMC.
@@romanseano Yeah I know 🥺 But thats not why she was let go. She was hired just before Or around the writers strike of 88 and when the strike was over and the writers came back they said she wasn’t what they envisioned in the role when they came back to write for the character so therefore she was out and replaced.
Brooke was strippin when she found out about her daughter how could she stand up there and talk that long. it was light she was flo showing for the camera she didn't even act that part out good. it showed.
God when this show was good it was through the roof.
34 years later and this still brings me to tears.
Damn I miss All my Children!
SO DO I.
Its supposed to be coming to primetime Kelly Ripa (Hayley) going to produce it
Angie Jesse Greg Jenny Tad are all my favorites

He was a off duty cop at that
Yaaaaasss
My mom cried for five days straight over this story. After seeing how Julia Barr played these scenes, I can understand why.
So powerful and sad.
Jeremy is the one that got me.
These stories used to be so good.
Julia Barr is a fantastic actress and good cryer

Julia Barr did AMAZING in this scene but the look on Toms face at the end he was in PAIN and it hurt him to even bring this up to Brooke
I don't know if Julia Barr got an Emmy for this storyline but she should have because this was some of her best work.
She did.
Especially when she said, "No. No one is gonna touch my baby!" That was the icing on the cake 🎂!
Very powerful. I can;t stop crying watching this.
Poor Brook she loved ❤ 😍 her daughter so much. I wish 🤞 they still had shows like this today. I loved watching 👀 All My Children with my mom 👩 when I was young.
Brooke
I still cry when Laura died. It's what I loved about All My children ♥️a sense of family and friends being human Brooke never got over her loss
Children
This was one of Brooke's best acting moments
Totally forgot about this story. I would have been 14 or 15 at the time. So sad now that I have a 6.5 year old girl. I'm crying like a baby right now. I can't even.
dixie was cute with the southern accent!!!
I liked her a lot better with the strawberry blonde hair.
Dixie
Dixie has an accent. Things have changed so much.
I've watched this scene over 100 times, trying to relived the moment just as the first time.
I remember when this happened. Skye was in a catatonic state in a mental institution. When they told her that Laura died, she recovered. Skye and Laura were close.
RIP Agnes Nixon
Julia Barr Brilliant!!!❤

Small correction: Stan Albers went on to play Loving's Curtis after his story concluded on All My Children.
Julia Barr is flawless here. Laura's death defines Brooke for the next 20 years.

Maggie is herself and her sister same character
Brooke later had Jamie…But Tom never had any other kids of his own.
Yeah him in Livia never had kids but they adopted Jamal.
I think he and Livia adopted a young teenage boy name Jamal Wilson Alec Mc Intrye was his biological father and tried to get custody of him.
This was very sad 😢.
Cady McClain plays Dixie at the point when Laura dies.
I remember this! So sad!!
Please hold brooke and now I'm crying.

Barbara returned as an alcoholic?
@@romanseanoYes.
So this is how it happened. I was at school. So very sad.

Listen to the way Adam talks to Tom. Laura was Tom's daughter, not Adam's. Who is he to talk to him like that when he just lost his daughter?
Kimberly Tyrcha he’s Adam Chandler. He thinks he can do and say as he pleases. Really he’s the male version of Erica Kane.
At this point Brooke and Adam were married about a year. Adam really loved Laura and considered himself her other father. Yes, he shouldn’t treat Tom like that, but they had a lot of bad blood over Tom’s marriage to Skye.

Brooke's shoulder pads though.
Is that Eliot Freeman/Josh Waleski?
Who was the Laura who showed up on Brooks doorstep years later?
That was Laura Kirk, a homeless teenager. She and Brooke formed a tight bond, which led to Brooke adopting her
Tom wasn't even giving Brooke time to process. Five minutes after you tell her her baby is gone, your talking to her about donating her organs? He was grieving too I know, but give her some breathing room.
Didn't you hear what Tom Cudahy said they must make a decision quickly!
That's how the script was written blame the writers.
I wasn't blaming the actor obviously. That wasn't the point.
The ABC soaps sure liked killing off Lauras
why isnt she going to the hospital?
How you changed Candy.
He went gray!
Brooke and Adam together looks so strange ...
Is this Kari Gibson or Cady McClaine?
Goldenrod636 Cady McLain unfortunately. I was 12 years old when Kari played Dixie and I loved her. When she was replaced I hated the character from then on and I never forgave AMC.
Well, there were three Brooke's.
@@BruceFord1976 Kari Gibson wasn't ready for living the night life of NYC.

Brooke and Adam was as bad of a fit as Brooke and TAD!
