    i love your collection. i have the red & green prayer plants. i have them in the shade outside under my porch. they love the daily showers and humidity we have here in Atlanta. the winters is when they struggle.

      Luv_sucs yeah i bring them in around Halloween when the nights start getting too cold. its dry in my house in the winter so they struggle

      @luvsucs5274  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the explanation. That makes sense since the air is drier in the winter. I was thinking to invest in a humidifier but couldn't decide which one to get... :/

    I totally want to visit you in your house some day, you have such an awesome collection of all the plants I want, lol! Also I knew you’d have a collection of the marantacae (I watched your philodendron one, OMG!), so I am glad I checked here first!!!! 💖💖💖 Do you also have an alocasia collection???

  • @hanaleidesigns8539
    @hanaleidesigns8539 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow your collection is so healthy, do you use a humidifier to keep the leaves from drying out. I have 2 Calethea’s right now, I’m just misting the plants to keep the humidity up, right now the heat is on in the house, but I did buy a cool mist humidifier that I need to set up to help all my houseplants out 🤗. Thank you for showing off your fabulous collection, keep showing us more please ☺️💜🌸🌺

    • @luvsucs5274
      @luvsucs5274  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your positive comment! 😊 I don’t have a humidifier and honestly now I try not to get more caletheas. As my collection is getting larger and larger, it’s become more and more difficult for me to keep them happy. I do think getting a humidifier is a good investment. Hope your plants are all doing well. ;)

    You’re collection is soo impressive!!
    I live in VANCOUVER CANADA & it’s so hard to find these
    So far I have like 7 Calethea & they’re all doing good in 55% humidity/ 21-27 degrees Celius
    But.. I just bought a Freddie but learned that it needs 75-% humidity (how do you do that?)
    I use a humidifier & set it to 60% but I don’t know what to do about Freddie

    Hi pretty plants! How do you keep them so pretty? Mine turn yellow on the leaves!

    • @luvsucs5274
      @luvsucs5274  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment. Honestly I think they’re a little difficult to take care of as they require more care than many houseplants. In my experience marantas are easier than Calatheas. Other than misting and putting pebbles with water on the bottom to keep the humidity level high, I use a humidity monitor to know the humidity level in the air. A couple of my Calatheas aren’t doing too well now so I’ve switched to filtered water to see if that will help. I left my Calatheas on the dry side for a couple of days because I forgot to water them and they were definitely not happy about that. Overwatering is bad for them too. The most important thing is to keep them always most but not wet. Finding that balance can be tricky though.

    Which 3 are the easiest in lighting requirements? I would love them all

    • @luvsucs5274
      @luvsucs5274  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your question. In terms of lighting requirements, I think they're pretty similar and do well in medium light. Among calatheas, marantas, stromanthes and ctenanthes, marantas are the easiest ones to take care of for me and calatheas are the most fussy ones. If you really want to get a calathea, I'd suggest getting a calathea 'rattlesnake' (Lancifolia) or 'Freddie' (Concinna).

    Hi, do you use distilled water on your calatheas? I read somewhere that chlorine and minerals are bad for them in particular, will burn the leaf edges.

    Hello! I've discovered calathea not si long ago when I was looking for green plants to make my house more lively and totally fell in love with it! I got a lancifolia, it looks great, but somehow there's so dry spots on some leaves, I was wondering if it was because of too much sun exposure? Right now it has been resting on a table 3meters away from the window. We only get direct sun on the morning, but the shutter is often closed until late... So I'm a bit confused. I wonder if I should put it in a corner to avoid the dry bits?
    Also I have noticed the tiny leaves in the middle aren't growing at all and have dry bits too. Even though I have two new larges leaves growing fine on the sides. Any idea if it's normal?

    Could I please get your help on the Stromanthe 'Charlie'? What kind of conditions are you providing yours? It looks beautiful. I recently got a one last week and it came from the nursery in perfect condition. However, after a few days, it started curling it's leaves into itself and started getting some brown spots. I don't think it's humidity because the meter is always 60-70% humidity. I don't have it in a spot that gets direct sun, but do you know if it doesn't like even bright, indirect light? Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    • @luvsucs5274
      @luvsucs5274  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your question! :) To be honest, I killed my first Stromanthe ‘Charlie’ but have had my second one for a while. In my experience, stromanthe likes bright light, as long as it’s not harsh. I’ve seen and heard people keeping their stromanthes outdoors and they’re doing well. I keep mine about 2 feet away from a west-facing window so it’s getting ample sunlight. Hope you can keep your stromanthe alive. Good luck!😉

      @@luvsucs5274 Thanks for responding and for your tips! Previously I had the him about 10 feet away from a south and east facing window. I've since moved it to be 3 feet away from a north facing window so we'll see how he does. So far, there hasn't been any additional leaf curl.

    Whats furtilsr u use for prayr plant??

    • @luvsucs5274
      @luvsucs5274  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Osmocote Plus Outdoor and Indoor Smart-Release Plant Food but honestly I think keeping the humidity level high is the key to make them happy. Some of my calatheas aren't doing too well now because I don't have a humidifier and it's hard to keep the humidity level high with just a tray of pebbles with water in it underneath the plants. If you don't have a humidifier, I'd recommend growing marantas, but not calatheas. Calatheas are just finicky.
