    Been there! Some advice: Spend the gift card within 48-hours of receiving it. Wild how many go unused.

    Better to give open loop gift card like visa pre-paid that can be used in any store, much better is cash which is common to gift in India

      Agreed, and people can actually pay bills like their cell phone and cable/internet, and buy food with them, significant value to the recipient.

    I have a $10 gift card to a store I don't really care for where you can't get anything for $10.... so to use the gift card, I'd need to go into a place I don't like to spend money I don't want to spend to buy something I don't want. Seems legit.
