Via Magica is a light bingo-esque family weight game with some really amazing art, simple and accessible gameplay and is a reimplementation of Rise of Augustus. The game teaches quickly, plays quickly and is a great game we recommend picking up.

I can't tell if the opening isnt edited to highlight how adorable your daughter is or because you're getting even more committed to the "no edit". Either way, fantastic video!
Specifically unedited :-) usually I cut out beginning and ends, but I really enjoyed her being super natural in this one.

Thanks for covering the game, I introduced it to my son at the beginning of the month and it's definitely game of the month of April for us! He played 10 times with me and 5 times with my wife, which is an unprecedented pace for a month. It's his current favorite game!

Very glad you covered that game, I have been eyeing it for 2-3 months now to play with my son who is 5. I went with simpler games for Christmas this year but I am definitely getting this one next year when he grows a bit more.
This is excellent! I genuinely think the game isn't that great mechanically....and yet it's solid fun for the family.
@@BoardGameCo Yes, I wouldn't play this game with only adults (as opposed to a game I can play with my son or with adults like Kingdomino). But this seems like a nice step up in complexity at that age and offers an introduction to engine building-esque decisions I think. Which objectives am I going for ? Do I pick cards that will help my efficiency during the game or cards that will score big at the end of the game ? I think engine building is hard for kids to handle as opposed to tile laying or set collection like ticket to ride.
Also as you mentioned, THE ART !!!! Wow ! Reason #1 to buy the game.

She is soo cute! What I love about the recent videos you've been putting out is that you talk more about family games and what your kids enjoy. Having an 11 year old and a 7 year old myself i'm always thinking what would they enjoy. Slaying zombies may not always be good for them and some games are too complex. I'm still trying to get trogdor !! :)
Yep :) I'm trying to ensure I have a variety of content in general. KS is a focus point on the channel not because of my collection, but rather because it does well. But I am very much an omnigamer.

Lol, I will agree that it's more than bingo...
Rise of Augustus is very good and I got that as opposed to via magica because of component quality, theme, and some minor card power rule changes that were less take that and less luck prone. Overall both games are good and anyone who is okay with a simple and straightforward bingoesque implementation would enjoy it.
Yup, I'm much more willing to play Rise after this.

Yup seems like an Augustus clone, the game I can play with grand-parents and kids alike, no brain torture... And at least on this one you don't have to shout "Ave Cesar"! Just not something to play with gamers... :D

Not really a fan of bingo style games but we are keeping karuba in our collection to play with our kids.
I 100% agree which is why I actually was very resistant to initially getting this game, and while I would never play it at game night, I really enjoy it with my family.

We actually play this one with our 5-year-old, others include barenpark, indigo, zombie kids, and more
Hoot Owl Hoot is the first one I introduced to both my sons when they were almost 3. Extremely simple cooperative game to teach them basics like turn structure. They both love it! We enjoy Spot It and memory games a lot as well.
