    Awesome! You can probably make a short video for each of a number of techniques (especially for people coming from AE) and get tons of views. Clip length, getting clips from the timeline into Fusion, composition size, using luma mattes, alpha borders. There's a lot of stuff Fusion makes overly complicated compared to AE, but more and more people still wants to transition from AE to Fusion. Thanks for your content as always!

    thanks, this is insanely complicated and unintuitive in fusion. It took like 6 viewings to figure out we're talking about an instance of a fusion clip on the timeline and not the original composition in the master bin. I still have no idea how to edit the clip in my master bin but at least I can move it to the timeline and edit as you show and then copy that into the master bin. So incredibly frustrating and no undos on dragging keyframes so it's so easy to permanently nuke a fusion comp forever just trying to make this work. Thanks for making it make a little sense at least lol.

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @robertasumendi when you drag a comp from the bin into the timeline you always create a copy. The exception is the new referenced Fusion comp in 19 beta.
      I'm not addressing Fusion Clips in the media bin here and I don't use them often, but you can double click them on the media bin to edit directly. Don't think you can change the Duration within the bin after creation.

    Vielen Dank für Deine hilfreichen Fusion-Tutorials. Du hast einige der Umstiegsschmerzen von AFX bei mir gelindert. (English translation at the end of this text)
    English
    Thank you so much for your helpful Fusion tutorials. You have eased some of the pain of switching from AFX for me.
    A question on this specific topic here: I made myself animated lower thirds in Resolve in the Fusion Page from a 50p timeline and exported them as macros to reuse as templates. If I now use these templates in a 25p timeline, the entire lower third animation is also played at half speed - which came as a surprise to me at first, as AFX does not show this behavior. Is there a way to keep these animations as templates independent of the frame rate? Or do you have to create templates for each frame rate separately (e.g. using the timestretcher)?
    A little feedback on the sound of your videos: I find the sound of your voice recording a bit muffled - which makes listening tiring. Perhaps a little adjustment with the equalizer at 1750 Hz with a narrow peak of +3dB would be enough to increase intelligibility.

    What is the best way to to automate something like this?
    Let's say for example "end credits" a text+ should start from the bottom of the screen screen and end at top of the screen but you don't know how long the fusion clip should last.
    What expression on the Y field should do that so that you can trim the clip in the edit page and have it always go that distance for the given time its been given?

    HI! Thanks for the video! Quick question , off topic here, i am sorry.. But when making a fusing animation while being in Aces CM, when i import a pgn log for example, the color are messed up. How do i manage that? thanxs!!

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the png comes via the Media Pool and you have assigned the correct color space for the png in the media pool, then it should work fine. If you don't or if you used a Fusion loader node, then you need to manually correct the color space using a color space transform node.

    Is it possible to increase the duration of a Fusion clip? Say you created one for 10 seconds and you need it to be 20? Thanks

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, via the edit page, pretty much the same way as for compositions on media, but check any loader/saver/generator nodes if it doesn't work. Sometimes the Global In/Out don't get adjusted automatically. You can also check it in the Keyframe editor.

    Is there a way to change the original duration of a standalone Fusion Composition you make in the media pool? All of these examples are clips with fusion work applied to them, rather than standalone Fusion Compositions :/ The only fix I can think of when you need more frames after setting the composition duration is to create a new blank composition in the media pool, copy the old comp's nodes and paste them into the new one, but this seems like a silly amount of work for what should just be a single parameter of the composition :/

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can definitely also change the duration of Fusion Composition effects the same way. I just tested it and it works. You get extra frames without changing the keyframes. If you get errors or media-offline or so, also check if any of the loader/media/generator nodes have incorrect global in/out values. You can check that best in the Keyframe editor. Check the console if you get error messages.

    • @_burd
      @_burd 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VFXstudy I don't mean changing the duration of animations or effects within a composition, though. I mean changing the total duration of the actual Fusion Composition itself. When you right click on the media page and select 'new fusion composition, you must select a duration which then seems to remain locked from that point onward. You can certainly have keyframes that go beyond this duration but they will not be rendered as the in-out points of the render range are limited to that original dutation you set when you made the standalone composition file. You can see this when you try to change the 'render end frame' box to something higher than the global duration, hit enter and it immediately changes it back to the original duration :/

    Upps. So ein kurzes simples Video von dir. Hatte es mir extra aufgespart für einen Tag, wo ich viel Zeit habe. Was mache ich jetzt mit dem Abend?
    Nevertheless - nice video. All issues you mention I experienced lots of times. Costs me lots of time to solve. And even in a quick tip video about a simple topic you manage to bring some new and very helpfull detail information. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge.
    Probierst du neue Formate? Vermute, diese Shorts sind erfolgreich. Wenn ich schnell was suche, priorisiere ich nach Cliplänge. Gute Stichwörter sind wichtig.
    Leider sind die meisten TH-camr entsetzlich oberflächig. Und es gibt so viele, die wenig Ahnung haben und Tutorials for Beginners machen. Freue mich auf deine Shorts. (Solange du nicht anfängst, portrait format in 20 s einzustellen.) Aber mach bitte trotzdem hin und wieder mal was ausführliches. Auch wenn ich manche deiner Tutorials inzwischen 10 x geguckt habe, weil ich nie alles auf einmal verinnerliche, ist es die Zeit wert.
    Nice grafics idea with the measuring tape ...
    Just one question left: why is my magic mask always lost, when I simply copy a fusion clip? (Only copy. Not changing length. Not anything else at all!) General problem or UTS?
    Danke. Thanks a lot.

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  ปีที่แล้ว

      When you track the magic mask it gets rendered to disk in the background and that sequence doesn't get copied - otherwise it could lead easily to filling up the disk. So after copying you just need to track again.
      Yes, I am trying some vertical Shorts as well. Not yet convinced of the format, but I thought of giving it a try with a few and the see if it's of any use and if I like making them. Let's see...

    My problem is I extended Fusion Composition total seconds from 6 seconds to 8 seconds on Edit page. I added more animation in later frames in Fusion. When I playback, the added animation frames could not be shown on Edit Page (the clip just cut at 6 seconds and becomes a black screen afterward). On Fusion page, showing keyframes, I see "MediaOut" is only 6 seconds long followed by a red block of 2 seconds. All the added animation frames b/t 6-8 seconds are still there but they could not be shown/played because MediaOut is only 6 seconds. I cannot find a way to stretch MediaOut time to match Edit page 8 seconds. I tried to delete mediaout and add it again, it did not work. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to fix this? Thank you a lot in advance!

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Check in the Keyframes Editor. The MediaOut is probably not the node causing it but there might be other nodes before in the flow that don't produce an output after 6 frames. Could be a MediaIn node that is too short, or a generator node of some kind.

    So lange es keine 60 sec Shorts werden. Eine super Sache... Ich fände ganz banal zum Thema Zoom mit großer Range erstens Spannend, wie ich die zum linear wirken kriege (habe mal einen Side by Side Vergleich von Transform und DynamicZoom im Editbereich gemacht dynamic Zoom ist deutlich "linearer"😂). Zweitens ob es einen Trick gibt gerade bei Schriften, die bei Transform entstehenden Kantenverpixelungen zu vermeiden.

      Ja ich experimentiere gerade etwas mit meinem Video Workflow. Ich habe bedebken ob ganz kurze HowTo videos zu Kursverkäufen führen und sich für mich rentieren aber mal schauen. Danke für die tips. Beim Text+ meinst Du so aliasing effected, wo die Kanten flickern? Das passiert bei kleinen Schriften, wenn die verschiebung pro frame kein vielfaches von ganzen pixels ist. Im Fusion VFX certification Kurs ist ein Beispiel mit einer credit roll, ist aber auch eine Idee für hier...

      @@VFXstudy Ich finde ja deine Kurse kann man gar nicht genug empfehlen, auch wenn ich tatsächlich sehr wenig mit Fusion arbeite. Besonders seit Yo still geworden ist gibt es da nicht mehr viel. Casey ist super variiert allerdings im Prinzip die gleichen 3 Themen immer wieder. Ich meinte mit Text+ eigendlich nur die Tatsachen, dass vielen Menschen offensichtlich nicht bewusst ist, dass es einen riesigen Qualitätsunterschied macht ob die Textgröße über Size in der Text+ Nodeo der der Size in Transform zu verändern. Ich bin bei jemandem der einen Fly through Titel animieren wollte neulich mal völlig ausgerastet, weil er das nicht mal probieren wollten.
      Auflösungen sind sowieso so ein Thema. Habe neulich auch ein Tutorial gesehen in dem jemand ein Logo als einen One Dot Image Brush Stroke mit der Paint Node entlang eines Pfades animiert hat....
      Ich lache immer noch über "It s not inteligent and it doesn´t change the Resolut..."
      Ich fände tatsächlich auch mal ein echtes Side by Side Fusion Nuke spannen, sprich gleiches Material, gleiche Aufgabe du in Fusion und jemand, der sich Nuke Artist nennt in Nuke.

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  ปีที่แล้ว

      They do. You can use an anim curves modifier for that or the keyframe stretcher but your comp needs to be setup with that. If you adjust a one-off comp usually it's just a one-time adjustment

      @@Aldsomegaming there are different ways of adjusting - e.g. Transitions are usually just scaled in a linear way. Titles can have an intro / outro / middle part.
