@@fieldagentryan What are you talking about? I am talking about the commercialization of what used to be a good gathering. While I appreciate David is probably paying insurance premiums through his nose, those people who attended over the years don't need the "extra" offerings. Who wants signs along the road saying "No campers, bno vans"? This used to be a truly spiritual event, peaking in the Fire Eye 2013. Where is the Ring of Fire now? I prefer Uisneach in the olden days when you could go up the hill and just enjoy it. Now you have to book a tour on Saturdays in the summer months only. What started off as a pagean-ish gathering has become another tickbox on the festival circuit.
RE: snuffing out the fires the day before Beltaine sounds a lot like what we Cherokee do for the Great New Moon, the first new moon after the autumn equinox. All fires were put out, all torn and broken things thrown into pits to be burned later, and everything was cleaned and repaired from homes to out buildings as well as the Council Lodge and the temple lodges. All adults fasted the entire day and everyone prepared for the ritual that began when the last light of day left the sky. New clothes were donned, hair was oiled and braided, faces and bodies painted, and gifts prepared to be given. The people gathered as the sun went down, staying silent while waiting for that last bit of twilight. Once it had and the priests had made the opening prayers, they lit a great sacred fire from which every family took a brand in order to start their hearth fires back up. After prayers and offerings had been made for the coming year (it is our New Year), the people danced and feasted, often until dawn. Some of us still follow these ways, but often very quietly because for a long time our traditional beliefs were outlawed by the government and those caught practicing them were punished harshly.
I have such admiration for Native Americans. I am from Monaghan, I am currently reading about the practices of some shamans from tribes in Mexico and trying to develop my second sight.

Mossy Earth and Planet Wild are partnering with local nonprofits to re-wild parts of England and Scotland. It would be nice if they moved on to Ireland, but somebody within the country needs to start a re-wilding effort!
Rewilding? Ireland already does multiple rewilding projects!! The Irish Wildcat Reintroduction: This project aims to reintroduce the European wildcat, a native predator that was extirpated from Ireland centuries ago. The reintroduction is still in the planning and research stages. Reintroduction of White-tailed Eagles: The white-tailed eagle, once extinct in Ireland, has been successfully reintroduced. This project, started in 2007, has seen eagles brought from Norway to Ireland, with a growing population now established. The Wild Nephin Project: This initiative in County Mayo involves allowing natural processes to take place with minimal human intervention, fostering the return of native flora and fauna .Rewilding the Burren: The Burren, a unique karst landscape, is another focus area where efforts are being made to enhance biodiversity through sustainable land management practices. The Irish Natural Capital Forum and Local Rewilding Groups: Various local organizations and forums are promoting rewilding through education, habitat restoration, and the creation of wildlife corridors. These are just sections of a much bigger rewilding project for the country.
