I cant imagine what the engineers of the Terran Marine Armor must think. Absolute best they can do, is give a Marine only marginal protection at best. Though honestly, I think a Terran Marine if realistically equipped would be a far sight more difficult to battle than the game gives them credit.
Personally, I think it just highlights how powerful the other factions are. Even the game says that the Terrans lack the resilience in terms of enduring physical combat, but make up for it with the sheer will to push forward despite tough times

You can also kill a person by hitting them in the face with a simple punch. The hydralisk were literally designed to shoot bone javelins covered in corrosive acid by using sheer muscle and pressure power. As for lings, metal teeth and claws even if they are just claws and teeth are metal. An fun fact we actually have precedent for animals having at least some metal in their teeth like beavers. Beavers have iron in their teeth. Others have copper or magnesium an zinc.

the Sniper Rifle that Sarah Kerrigan is using has a mode on it that can be selected for a burst fire or single shot. during the Zerg battle she is using the Burst fire (starcraft 2 cut scene)
