    Thanks Steve. Great Idea. I was using 5 gallons folding jugs but they were cumbersome. I almost built your idea, but I need the front passenger footwell for my wife. I ended up using an 8-gallon Ironton ATV sprayer from Northern Tool with a 1 GPM pump as it fits in the rear passenger footwell of my Xterra and I can sleep on it. It's everything (tank, pump, switch, 10-ft hose, adjustable sprayer) in one package for $70. Now I have 8 gallons of running water that I can use to fill my cup to make my coffee, or rinse my shoes or wash my car. Thanks Steve!

    It's so great that you show all the steps! I've been kind of looking for a solution like this to our RV shower set up: right now we have a Zodi pump which is getting old and we're going to need a replacement in not too long. I"m assuming this pump can handle hot water? We don't use our water heater because we haven't figured out a way to measure our usage when water is through the RV pipe system, (water always being scarce since we're dispersed camping so we need to take navy showers), and in the winter we can't use the RV system anyway because of the freezing pipe risk. So we just heat water on the cook stove and insert the Zodi pump every time. Just my preference wouldn't be a 7 gallon though - it's really heavy - maybe get 2 5 gallons? or some 2.5 gallons? 7 gallons is better if you need to stay in good shape!

    Thank you Steve for sharing your build. I've watched other builds using the Sceptre can but never felt 100% with that design.
    We use aquatainers daily so when I saw your design I knew that's exactly what I wanted. And putting everything together just looked way easier. I already had half the materials you used so this build, another plus.

  • @laura-ann.0726
    @laura-ann.0726 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like the way you have the pump tied to the water can. No holes drilled into the can, and it's removeable; the pump can easily and quickly be transferred to a different water can. I'm going to see if I can duplicate this for a camping shower and dishwashing system.

    I have a on demand hot water heater and a dolly would be a good platform for the water vessel and hot water heater. I have tanks that are huge would have to get smaller tanks if I were going to make a portable system.
    Spray paint water bottle black ,use mylar to add solar gain. Add insulated hose equipment to output so temp can remain constant. Add a solar battery and small panel if you want tack on a radio and a light with mirror.
    Also build a wrap for your water vessel to keep water warm through the night.

    My RV has a toilet tank with the water pump submerged in water (seems to be a poor design to me). The water pump never lasts more than 4 years and i have to replace it which is a huge pain in the butt. I struggle to get my hand down this tiny whole to pull the pump out. Anyway i really like your idea of putting the silicone into the shrink tubing after connecting the two wires with the crimp (just the way mine is setup also).
    Great idea, i will let you know in 4 years if it lasted longer, lol.

    • @XplorerSteveDIY
      @XplorerSteveDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It will require some pressure release. There is some space with the siphon hose going in through the top so that covers it. If you seal the hose with tape or something, then yes, you'll have to unscrew the vent a bit.
