Visit Chongqing and you won't regret it, it unlike any cities in China. Also, if you wanna go for good food, Chongqing, Chengdu and Changsha are best in spicy food. If you like history, try Xian, Beijing, Dunhuang (my top 3). Nature? Sure, Xinjiang and Tibet are like an upgraded version of the Scottish Highlands, Hohhot has vast grasslands where you can ride horses, and Gansu Province has deserts where you can ride camels. If you want to try some of the ancient cities, go to Dali and Lijiang in Yunnan province (BTW, there's also a snowy mountain with hot springs on it).

I've visited China four times and saw different regions. Every time I've visited... I've seen big improvements. I would even be bold enough to say that the major cities in China are now overall cleaner looking than the major cities in the US.The China described by the Western media is completely different from the real China I see.The greening of the city is very good, and there are many electric cars on the street,What impresses me the most is that life is very convenient, a cashless society, the subway system is very new and clean, and the people are very friendly.Other than some culture shock, I feel China is very safe.But In the US, I dare not go out at night, for fear that black people will shoot me.have fun in China and God bless you.

As a Chinese who immigrant to USA since 2001...I haven't see any changes here at NYC...subways old, infra is bad ,safety issue all the time... Every time I went back to China to visit friends families...I see changes every time...especially from 2010-present year...My last time visit was August... I just want to say the fact of present China is much more cleaner....modern than US...and is super safe....cashless with advance popular phone payment... NYC is like nothing compare to Shenzhen.... people who have never travel to China should give a visit...you will be surprise China is not like what the western media says about it...you will be shock!!!!

It’s good to try different foods but you don’t have to eat anything you don’t like, Joe. The Chinese and expats there will get you to try some local, weird, and traditional dishes that your taste buds are not used to, that’s just a rite of passage. Bascially Shanghai and Shenzhen are the same, perhaps the difference in food for this season is indeed the lake crab, which is more common in east China than in south China.
