    It doesn't have a wire to point out where the cut is going. I really like that option.

    If I bring one more trimmer in my house my hubby is goin to give me a haircut. If I order this from you can you wrap it in something that doesn’t say “it’s another paper trimmer honey”. But I really really like this. Thanks for the demo. Nice cutter

    Thanks for this review. I've been searching for a trimmer for ages and this is exactly what I am looking for. It seems Tonic has paid attention to customers wishes. I have just ordered one and two spare blades. What I love about this trimmer is the fact it is not cut off between the 5-6 inch mark and you had to guess the measurement. I like my score board, so the scoring blade on this trimmer isn't a big deal for me. I make cards as well and I love those lines. How easy is that. Thanks again from Oz.

    Maymay - thank you for taking time to do a review of this trimmer for us. I appreciate you highlighting the features and your observations. Because of you, I have enjoyed the Cricut trimmer for a couple of years now. I do like that the bed of this trimmer is wider, minimizing the need to extend the arm for A2 cards. Blessings to you. 🙏🏻💙👍🏼

    I like this. A tip for teaching left handed people, sit across from them, and it will be easier for them to learn. I do it when I'm teaching cross stitch.

      Omg! That is how I first learned to crochet! i am right handed and I sat across the table of a left handed coworker crocheting something trendy at the time. I was a few months into my pregnancy of my first child and I wanted to make something for the baby. She turned 49 a couple weeks agp. Thank you, Melissa Burnett, for bringing up that sweet memory.

    I love that the measurements go all the way across. Usually when there is an arm or another piece that flips out from the back, you lose measurements and have to guess. This seems to solve that problem. Thank you for the demo.

      Would you recommend it now that you've had it for almost a year? I have been trying so hard to find a good trimmer that cuts straight and square and I'm having no luck.

    • @blossomk10
      @blossomk10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Peace of Junk Journals It is a nice trimmer, I found mine at a resale shop it only came with the cutting edge not the scoring attachment. This has awesome measurements, easy to read. I have multiple trimmers, seem to grab whatever is closest to me. I also have a scoreboard tool, but this one does have both with this trimmer. Hope that helped.

    I love the interchangeable blade/scoring housings and the stability points. I feel like some boards that have a tendency to sway in the middle cause cutting errors (and I don’t need any help with that 😂). So many great points about this board, I had to order one.

    Looks like a great trimmer. Will you demonstrate how to line up smaller pieces of paper to make smaller accurate cuts 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1 1/8, etc? I noticed under the clear plastic bar there are no measuring indicators for about an inch of space.

    I like this method of blade changing. I have a cutter that has a spot on the housing where it is cut different so you lift the blade out, and as a lefty, I am always popping the blade out by accident because I use that end of the cutter.

    This trimmer has a lot of great features. I love that you can cut more than 6 inches without having to open the arm. However, Tonic really missed on the fact that you can't have both the cutting and scoring blades on at the same time. Maybe if there was a place on the trimmer to store it, but it looks like it will be a nightmare to keep track of both blades!

    • @PuffKitty
      @PuffKitty 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, plus it's a hassle to keep taking one blade or the other off and on if you're just flying by the seat of your pants, making mistakes and re-doing, etc. I also find the ruler measurements really hard to read. I'll probably get a different one eventually. It's the first trimmer I've bought. (I have the gray model.)

    I like a lot about this trimmer, but I think not having the cutting wire would be an issue for me. I print and cut a lot of photos, and I think it would be hard to trim them without the wire guideline. But for paper cutting it looks wonderful. I really would like to see a 3-month update on this trimmer to see how it holds up. I feel like maybe separating the plastic ruler to change blades might loosen it a bit over time. ?? The ruler in the middle and the lack of space at the fold mark is wonderful!

    I can’t even tell you how many of these contraptions I have gone through over the years. I would be curious to see how accurate the measurements are, as well as how long the blade lasts when using heavier card stock. I have two trimmers that I have been using and both blades are wearing out faster than I ever remember. I thought that it was the blade of my trimmer until the same thing happened with my other one. I bought new blades and even used a product that coats blades to last longer....but it didn’t. It makes me wonder if the blades are not made the same as they used to be...or is it the card stock weight or how they are now manufacturing it. So, please let us know how long the blades last when cutting your card stock bases for card making. Thank you. 🙂

      It is particularly good for ‘filleting out the middle of a panel when you want to create a frame or to save paper, but the blades aren’t long lived so I use a guillotine for most straightforward cutting and this for the precise fiddly bits

    • @opal777
      @opal777 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      May I ask what guillotine you use. I have a Crafters Companion and I cannot get precise measurements from it. I am probably using it wrong, but I am always off when creating card bases with it. That is why it sits on the back of my top shelf. Just curious....thanks!

      @MaymayMadeIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was not a fan of the Fiskars trimmer with the wire, I used it for a long time before finding another one I really loved. The issue I had with it was the blade fell out and the wire eventually wore out. Fiskars stands behind all their products to they will replace parts that can be replaced but it was not my fav one, again, I used it a long time! lol

    Thank you for this video! Your review videos are the best! You are very thorough and fair in your assessments. I bought the Cricut trimmer on your reccommendation years ago & it performs exactly as you described. I do have a problem with lining up cuts wider than 4" tho. This trimmer could solve that issue. However, I do have some questions.
    How available are the replacement blades? (Like others have stated, I too have noticed the blades do not keep their edge like they used to.)
    Will the circuit cutting blade fit in this trimmer? My reasoning - cricut replacement blades are easy to find. Most of my cuts do not require stopping at a specific measurement & could be reserved for only cuts that require that level of precision, so finding replacement blades becomes less of an issue.
    Thank you for asking for our questions! You're the only person who ever asks us.

    I'm looking for a replacement for my years-old Fiskars rotary trimmer. It's got a rotary blade and I usually have to do 2 or 3 passes before it cuts the paper--and that's with a new blade. I also can't see the track where the blade goes if I'm trying to make a non-measured cut. This Tonic model looks like an improvement. Do you have anything to add to your review, after a year? Did you try the scoring feature?
    I liked the 3 rulers and the colors, the handles for the trimmer flap. I didn't like the way the blade changes. That seems flimsy and dangerous. I didn't like the no storage for the extra blades. That to me seems like an accident waiting to happen. The flip out arms if they put those why not have it a full board? It seems cheaply made with the arms and the twisting even though it has stability feet just gives off a cheaply made product. I'm a guillotine trimmer person to begin with.

    • @MaymayMadeIt
      @MaymayMadeIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are a guillotine trimmer person you probably wouldn't like this style of trimmer. I think it is well made and thought out, I did not try the scoring feature as I don't use them for scoring, I should have for those that do, sorry, will do better next time. It does not feel cheaply made to me, I just wanted to show just how stable it was even though it was light weight.

    • @MaymayMadeIt

      I have to say that I love my Cricut trimmer, if we didn't need to have a comparable one in our store I would still only be carrying our Cricut trimmer but we cannot get them right now. We are hoping they are available again soon. So, that said, if my Cricut trimmer was still good and working well, I wouldn't replace it with this one or any other one at this time. I just have so many customers that are new to us that don't have the cricut trimmer and ask me for a good recommendation, so I went on the search for some. I do have more coming too so you can have options. Sorry, I don't feel that was a clear cut answer but I tried! lol
