This just shows how far Madden has diverged from the real life game it was meant to represent.
EA only pretends Madden is a realistic simulation in order to keep that NFL exclusive license. Being more arcade-ish and even kind of broken makes them more money than trying to make the game a realistic simulation. (Which is why some argue that modern Madden gameplay-wise are *worse* than 10-20 year old football games, including old Madden titles.)

I miss the Madden 2010-14 generation. A lot more variety with plays that aren’t just “filler” for the playbook. I also miss being able to hurry up all the way down the field without having time melt off the clock to auto run down (which really can’t be turned off).
Maden 08 was the last decent madden game. And it still wasn't that great. 2K Sports was doing amazing things that blew EA out of the water back in 2005. And rather than try and compete with them and build a good game, they bought out the rights so no one could compete with them, and then just keep polishing the same turd every year.

Real Madden players always audible to their real play at the line...y because back when u played on the screen, your opponent could see what play n formation u picked 😂😂😂

It’s usually just glitches that make plays work
I love how you can throw bullet passes to receivers well before they should be expecting it in their route, yet they can instantly adjust and go up for the catch. It's like they have eyes in the back of their heads. Meanwhile, DBs who are looking straight into the backfield are so slow to react to passes that sometimes they aren't even out of their break by the time the receiver has caught the ball.

The game they are playing is a football game, the metagame is outthinking players and strategies that transcend the game created by developers.

I’ve played madden my whole life but these last 2 ruined it 100% for me. I don’t even play it nor will I even buy it. Everyone just uses the same plays over and over and it’s not football nor is it fun. Madden is trash. People ruined it. Like everything else.
Funny these guys are considered pros but in fact are just cheesing their way to catches with bad reads, but using the games broken mechanics to catch everything. Not to mention running the same plays over and over again like this is Tecmo Bowl. At the 2:17 mark the running back is wide open down there middle for a TD but he throws a "high ball" into triple coverage instead..... Ya... Great read there

People that were playing competitively when Madden ‘06 dropped, with formation shift AND smart routing. The creativity was unmatched, craziest tournament scene in Madden.

This is why I hate the competitive Madden scene. It's all about META and stacking your team with the exact players/abilities that you desire. I'm sure every competitive sport would love to be able to abuse the best players and tactics for wins.
I just wish competitive Madden was about knowledge and skills. But alas, my 5 year old son can drive the field with high passes to tall receivers because that's how dumb and broken this game is.
I have been playing since 2001 and I can beat just about every person I go up against, but if I went competitive then I would get META'd to death by scrubs who don't understand actual scheme. So infuriating.

Madden is bad these days, but this video has nothing to do with it. Literally 100% of video games that have an active following are dissected and exploited to this degree at the highest levels of competition. Go watch a speed run of any game, you’ll notice that they aren’t playing it anything like the way it’s meant to be played.
You may as well have titled this video "why madden sucks". Madden is advertised as an NFL football simulator. It's simply unrealistic that anyone can run the same play over and over again and not get punished for it in any real game of football. Instead, Madden just keeps polishing the same turd every year and you lemmings keep giving them your money. I did too for years until I wised up. And we're never going to get a quality football game from EA until you start demanding better.
I'd like to see him play on regs - so much of what he and others do is just not possible when you don't have 99s everywhere capable of doing anything. I don't respect MUT at all.
I promise you these guys are the best in the world regardless of game mode. They play MUT because that's where the money is.

@@SpruceGooseTV agreed but having 99ovr everywhere makes a HUGE difference there’s no true bad players and no mismatches you can expose. That’s why Agro catching works with tall Wideouts it’s the only true scheme people can expose because a 99ovr doesn’t matter when your dude 7inches taller than the safety or corner and your guy is a 99ovr too. I saw some really good dimes but most of it was just using the game against itself to win.

I have been using “bench” since madden 20 and would absolutely rip any defense up especially when having hot route master on your quarterback allowing you to open anyone up.
Bench is a instant td or 40 yard gain
That's the difference between Madden and real football. In the NFL, players don't get beat the same way twice, and there are defensive schemes to stop offensive plays. If an NFL team only had 6 plays in real life, they would get destroyed.
So the next version should incorporate heuristics.

meta is a prefix from greek that means “across” or “along with”. it became used in the 80s to create terms like “metaverse” and “metagame”, which is what meta is shorthand for in the gaming context. “most effective tactics available” is a backronym, like when people say Ford stands for “Found On Road Dead”. it’s not the actual source of the term it’s just entertaining or educational

I have never seen "meta" used as an initialism. I've always seen it used as a shortened version of the term "metagame" or "metagaming", which is using outside information of the game while playing the game. Most players use it when talking about what characters, items, or builds are popular for a particular game. Is the "META" initialism a Madden community thing?
That would be an acronym because you pronounce it. But meta isn’t an acronym so it doesn’t really matter.
Guess people have made a backronym of meta. It’s effective in explaining what it means so I don’t think it’s bad to use but people should also consider the original meaning (metagaming as you identified) as it goes beyond just tactics in game
Shows you how uncreative madden games have been over the years…ran most of these plays and schemes and rocket catches in peoples face back in madden 08…and idk who y’all playing online running 20+ plays. Most kids have two formations and 2 plays out of each formation.

i won the superbowl in Madden 95 with the falcons by running one offensive play and putting deion sanders on the outside d-line. Sanders was also the kick returner

No shade to the players but could you imagine if they had to actually scheme against opponents rather than just using the same 5 plays and “embracing the meta”? That’s the problem with madden, you never end up actually playing football just some play spam BS

I can’t completely hate on the kid bc in some instances he actually uses his brain and it shows how much knowledge he truly has on this game. Which in turn allows him to “create” these schemes bc he knows what works. It just sucks that Madden limits you to using the same 4 plays to succeed.
