***NOTE: I tried my best to understand the rules/FAQ and play the game many times before filming so that I made less mistakes, but no playthrough is ever perfect. Especially when you are one of the first to make a video for a new game. :) I have figured out how to create Klingon subtitles and put corrections in there. Enable closed captions to see the the corrections while you watch. Thanks for all your help in the comments pointing out my mistakes! You are all awesome.

Best video I have seen on Cloudspire. You nail almost every rule, great work man! Not an easy task in this beast of a game. My personal preference, I put the hero fortification chips on the bottom since it will be the first helf removed anyway. Not that it matters, just makes it easier for me to remember to remove it.

    • @RobsGamingTable
      @RobsGamingTable  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching! I like your tip about the order of the chips. My wife likes to do it your way, but for me I like to do it the other way. Just a personal preference, but your way is smarter. :)

I do the same, hero fortification upgrades on the bottom. It helped a lot when I realized that the upgrade chips are just markers. They are not supposed to act the same on Heros and Spires.

Just went back to play some Cloudspire again (the current kickstarter for new content inspired me) and started the solo campaign for the first time. I played it and got soundly destroyed the first play, so I went to BGG to find out if I was alone...I wasn't. LOL - In true CTG fashion, this is VERY difficult. I played it again using the Raze ability to my advantage this time and eeked out a victory!
I came upon your video after the desire to see how someone else fared against this beast. You did such a great job! I thought there was no way in hell you were going to win after Wave 2 was over. I was like...he has done NOTHING against that Minaret Spire or any Spire and Darb is about to come unleash some aggression on you. I noticed you had the Flying ability in the market. That happened in my game too and I bought it and applied it to Kram, and that was EVERYTHING for me being able to quickly take down Darb, which REALLY helped me stay alive. You touched on it early and I was screaming YES! YES! BUY THAT DAMN THING! IT'S EVERYTHING! I was wrong, lol. Not only did you win but you managed to get ALL THREE RENOWN. That was very impressive. Your plan came together and it was a real joy to watch.
Thanks for that and great work :)

At 1:01 in the video, the Brawnen Siege Tower attacks the Elfinkaze. The Elfinkaze has Flying and the Siege Tower should not be able to attack it.

Great video! Thank you for making it! At around to 40:00 mark you mentioned you builder and not being able to get him to be adjacent to the spire you wanted to upgrade. The making progress rules would actually allow you to move him up on and then down one, so he would be adjacent and could flip it. Great work here though, and love your presentation.

I am not sure to be honest. I am still trying to figure this out. I have read and reread the AI movement rules a few times and I still struggle with it many playthroughs in. I'm glad to hear you also interpreted the rules as I did, but I think your viewer might be right. Also, another thing that I have a question about in this case, with toxic secretion would the AI still move the extra space even though it is clearly worse for them?

I think: AI minions move as far as they can, but the final hex must be nearer to the fortress. So i think , it moves 1 more and gain damage by the landmark.
In case an AI minion can move but ends movement not nearer to the mark (but not further!!!) its an optional movement.

Great effort - this game has some real nuances / chrome that are not always obvious ...but your demo play through is pretty spot on compared to some currently on TH-cam ...it took me ages to nail down the twist and turns of TMB ...and I imagine it will be no different with this game especially as solo rules scenarios each have specialised rules ...but don’t you just love CTG products ??
Now to get as many plays in myself before it may/will get trumped for table space by Tainted Grail’s impending arrival lol...

1:44:47 The aegis can move because of flying on the enemy, it just swaps positions.
1:45:30 Same. It's flying so it can just fly to the gate, exchanging positions with the aegis on the way and damage it.
Due to the above, your only option may be to upgrade the air defense spire with 1 extra die on attack. This way you can hit their minion before it attacks your fortress gate. I skipped to the 4th wave, but in general, I think it's very worth it to get the forsaken siege die so you can kill that one before it hits your gates. It would have only given you 2 renown though.

Thanks for correcting my correction!
I'm trying to remember what I saw and remember and I skipped around a lot (as you can tell from a previous comment I made). My excuse was, I had already won this scenario 4 times (the first 2 I made rules mistakes so I ended up replaying this scenario a lot).
I just want to add that your playthrough has one of the fewest errors and you played it very well vs. a lot of other boardgaming youtubers. Do you have a wargaming background?

On Wave 3 when Darb hits Kram for 4dmg You counted: 1-armor; 2-fortification upgrade; 1 hp. As I understand The Rulebook the fortification upgrade for spires works for 2dmg to be removed but for units it works as extra hit point so it shoud be counted for 1 dmg and one more health chip shoud be removed :). BTW great movie, game is hard to learn and very hard to master!
