    As an 18 year rokon veteran I have found that the more metal and nuts and bolts you put on a Rokon the more you are going to lose gear and hang up more, at least in the brushy areas that I hang out in ! I have found that some 550 paracord and zip ties are much quieter, just as reliable and easy to replace on the fly much easier than mechanical means. Just a different way to do things and you can always change locations on your bike.

      That's a great idea. And zip ties come in different sizes. Thank you. I'm always open to new ideas.

    Very nice..
    I just got a couple of 1970 ROKON's last week. They've been sitting inside not running for about 25 years. Plan to do a full recondition on at least one of them this winter.

    Love the mods. Only thing I would upgrade, is to isolate the clamps with rubber. That metal on metal, being loose, and banging around or just vibrating won't last and will muck up paint and start rusting. Definitely adding sub for more Rokon content. Time to scroll through more of your vids.
    Cheers

      Oh I agree. A lot of my mods were experimental. I unfortunately have a larger task I'm looking at doing. I'm seriously considering upgrading the engine and transmission. If I do it, I'll be sharing it on my channel.

    Good video! Great narration! I feel the rifle and shovel should go on the back tho. Enjoy your Rokon! You did a great job creating the mounts for everything!

    1. Kolpin gun boot !
    2. Nyties and Nylocs !
    3. Chain guard ?
    4. Have Fun !

      Thanks Brian, yes I should have a chain guard. The bike that I lovingly call the basket case was missing several of the cosmetic components including the chain guard. I know the leather rifle scabbard isn't as practical as the Kolpin. I just like the look of the leather. I'm kinda going for a nostalgic WWII Harley Davidson look. What are Nyties and Nylocs?

    Most of it looks pretty dang good. I'd be very concerned about how low to the ground the bottom of the rifle case attachment goes. I can easily see that Rokon going down the trail and into a muddy rut where the tire goes down in it but the bottom of the rifle doesn't and instead creates a major hang point. When that happens, which one will prevail? Will the motor to continue to push the Rokon forward while bending the attachment as well as the rifle itself? Or will the attachment create enough of a hang point that it completely stops the bike's forward motion altogether?

    • @adventuresincampingwithcar8622
      @adventuresincampingwithcar8622  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have some good points. I think the only one that does concern me are big mud holes. I feel like that problem can be minimized by inserting a tube with one sealed end in the bottom of the leather case. Copper, PVC, electric conduit, something. The leather case can be cleaned. Personally, I'm more concerned about the rifle on the handle bars getting caught on something while going through the woods. I have considered objects possibly catching on the frame by the wheel hub, it is a possibility. However, I think that can be reduced by careful driving. Everything has some draw back.
      I'm not particularly thrilled with the big plastic case sticking off of the back of the bike either. Im copying the WWII Harleys. If it worked in WWII on them, it should be good enough on the Rokon. In all honesty, I like the look of the leather case on the side. And the rifle is more convenient to grab as well. I am more of a camper and small game hunter, I don't do any deer hunting. I love venison but it doesn't love me. It causes my Gout to flair up. So I've avoided it for 25 years, and haven't had a major problem with Gout. I tracked what I was eating with my Gout flair ups and found a correlation. It's worth the sacrifice to avoid the drugs. I do appreciate your comment. And you've given me an idea to make a protective insert for the leather case, as well as a copper or brass cover for the top. Thank you.

    Hi Carl. Where did you get the machete and that sheath for the machete? Also fun video.

    • @adventuresincampingwithcar8622
      @adventuresincampingwithcar8622  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I purchased them separately on Ebay. They are US Military surplus. the Machete is made by the makers of the Old Hickory knives.

      I just ordered a Rokon preppers model this morning! Can't wait for it to get here I'm 65 years old and have 3 four wheelers that we use for hunting but a lot of places I hunt is to thick with trees and the four wheeler just what go between them, and I can't drag deer and hogs out anymore so I'm thinking the Rokon will get to them and be capable of pulling them out of the woods.
