“You’re the best at this lucas” “yeah” what a legend
Bat Pool he’s my little coz
i love the masculinity of this show. The way they were supporting their mate is so lovely and what real men do!
Alex is such a fantastic person.
That brought tears to my eyes.
Well damn it if they can't make me cry as well as laugh.
Thanks to the NHS I still have a mother, and I had 2 more years with my Grandma than would have been possible without it. You can't put a price on that.
I was in and out of great Ormond Street as a kid, as was my sister, both for severe reflux. My sister had a hole in her oesophagus at one point, and the saved both our lives. Bless the NHS and bless great Ormond Street, most of all bless the doctors nurses, and everyone else that keeps such an amazing place running xxx
Rosie Clarke I nearly died of reflux (20% chance of survival without an operation ) unfortunately I live in the USA so no NHS fortunately my dad had good insurance. I can’t image how parents coup with losing a child because they could not pay for an operation.
I’ll never understand the miss treatment of nurses and doctors by the government, it’s stupid how little they get payed for the hours that they work and the lives that they save, we should be putting less money into creating weapons to wage war and more into keeping the NHS stable and making sure that the amazing doctors and nurses in the UK get the pay that they deserve
For the Americans watching this, none of those parents had to pay anything for their children to get world-class care. Britain knows how to do health care. America should be ashamed of having a system that forces people to go bankrupt to care for their loved ones.
Millions in the US did of cancer and other illnesses that could of been treatable but we can't even afford to be checked out, in our country wanting everyone to have healthcare means u hate this country according to the president
Did=die auto correct
@@krizzygrl3969 my daughters life was saved thanks to the doctors and nurses in the N.H.S. forever greatful to the wonderful staff
Ctwo First don’t forget about Canada’s free health care
@Daisy Dan ✌\m/✌
We forget sometimes that hidden behind the comedy that is shared on this show, there is often tragedy that fuels it. The wonderful thing is that we can share these moments and feel them together as people. I feel lucky that the only thing I've been in hospital for is gromits, but I know many others that have needed the NHS a lot in their life and even with all the faults, I'd never want to lose it.
Continue to fight for your NHS every step of the way! It's so important
I have Cerebral Palsy, unfortunately (if you look at it like that) I was born before SDR surgery was being offered, in this country anyway. I see young kids having SDR nowadays and am insanely jealous- for really what my life could have been, as it seems so enhancing to theirs. But Alex struck a chord with me there. The NHS care I have received has been brilliant, and has enabled me to live as a content and independent life as I can thus far. I had never really fully appreciated that before. So happy birthday NHS- as we celebrate the last 70 years, lets look forward to what will hopefully be many, many more!
I saw a british man have feelings, the UK has progressed faster than we all thought.
I love these guys.
It all broke loose after Princess Diana was killed. Brits just seemed to open up. Amazing people.
Keep it up fellas.
No shame in emoting :)
We've always felt emotion, we _are_ human beings after all, we just didn't publicly bang on about it like some other cultures do.
@@andy6576 sounds like you resented that comment and emotionally banged on about it...
@@fartpimpson3843 And it sounds like you should get out of the house more.
I'd be dead if it wasn't for Great Ormond Street Hospital. 56 operations later, now nearly 30 and am doing fabulously. Will forever be grateful.
And this is why I hate everyone who is against public healthcare. Americans, conservatives, because those kids deserve the best damn life we can offer. it is our duty to offer them all we have, regardless of the cost or challenge, to give them the greatest life possible. Such a reminder should not be needed, but it is. This was perfect.
wesley caine Not all Americans are against public healthcare. Some of us know that the current US system is an abomination, but the population at large has been snowed by propaganda calling the NHS "socialized medicine" - as if that's a bad thing.
I hope you and those like you manage to show your country how much good can be done. I hope my previous comment wasnt too hateful towards america. While there are certainly things I find abhorrent in the country, there are certainly things I like, along with many individuals who are everything we should strive to be.
Ctwo First Socialism is still such a dirty word in America, and I've seen sample medical bills that are extortionate. How can you treat human lives like a business?
Aidan Millward Slavery comes to mind. But further, wait 'til you see a cost-benefit analysis with the words 'acceptable casualties per fiscal year''... they still exist in a lot of countries... acceptable, fucking, casualties, and the worst part is there's a dollar figure down the bottom.
Couldn't agree more! I treasure our universal health system in Australia but unfortunately, socialism is seen as a dirty word here too, especially in the eyes of our current conservative Government, and they are doing all they can to get rid of it. They know there will be an outcry if they do it all at once so they're trying to do it bit by bit. For all our sakes I hope they get voted out at the next election before they get their way. Health care should not be something that only the wealthy can afford.
I'm still under the care of Miss Eastwood, the orthopaedic surgeon at Great Ormand Street shown in the video and its amazing to see the hospital get the recognition it deserves. Its such an amazing place and kept me alive for so long while I've been growing up. Beautiful video
We have public medicine here in Hong Kong, a legacy from when we were a British territory. Even if neither the NHS, or our Hospital Authority are 100% perfect they are a huge blessing that need holding on to come what may.
I had a brain tumour when I was born. Had my operations at Great Ormond Street as a kid and been back for check-up so I always get emotional when I see stuff like this. Just.....Wow.
It's seeing people Like Little Lucas is the reason I will always and forever support OUR NHS
I hope you do a followup with Angel once she has her new leg. Maybe Jonnie Peacock could teach her some dance moves.
as long as it's not Ed Balls we're good
"I'm doing ittt!"
Damn right you were Lucas, damn right you were.
I was in Great Ormond Street Hospital myself as a child having growth tests , spent a week in there with them , and was luckily to be able to see what goes on. I get emotional like lovely Alex at that place.
The reaction of your guests, Audience and The Last Leg crew shows how important your message is
I'm not up with what's going on with the NHS as I'm not in the UK, but it's people like the Last Leg Crew that could get the Ball Rolling
My cousin was born in Great Ormond Street and will be backwards and forwards there until he’s at least 18. The work they do it beyond incredible and this video had me in tears, especially when Alex started to tear up.
Thank you guys for showing just a few of the many successful stories that have come out of Great Ormond Street!
I spent the first 12 years of my life making many trips to GOSH for an eye condition. 25 years later I had to take my daughter there for a kidney operation. I have nothing but admiration for that place.
Alex is a treasure.
Well done boys. Well done Gt Ormond Street. Well done NHS.
I wish there was something more than a thumbs up for a video that carries such an important message. You Brits are so fortunate to enjoy universal health care.
I cant cope with this sort of stuff. Thank you lads....for reminding everyone how fortunate we are to have such a great institution! Let us not bicker or complain about minor issues...we are all human....the NHS is also run by humans....cut them some slack....raise concerns that are real and major and a genuine cause for concern...and not moan becausr your having a bad day. We have staff from all walks of life and backgrounds...learn to be respectful...because they dont need you....but we all need them. Love to you all. Thanks to all of you. Peace x
I am not crying...
Hey Alex, Josh & Adam I just wanted to say how lovely it was watching this clip in particular. At the age of 22 month old I had a stroke and spent a great deal of time in Great Ormond Street . I lost the use of my right hand and some brain damage . Without there help I don't know where I would be today I am always so thankful. I'm now 24 and have taught myself to play instruments with one hand and always have in my mind that I should not let my disablity stop me . Thank you for having this amazing show . Delilah
I was in Great Ormond Street Hospital myself as a child without them and there teams i wouldn't be here today almost 20 years later
I will be forever grateful for the doctors and nurses at Great Ormond Street Hospital. 🤍
I really wish there was a love button for this. Love this show!
Great lemons street is amazing. Spending 8 years in and out of there I can relate so much to the pride alex feels. Nurses and doctors who stay after hours as they did just this Thursday when I was in make the NHS what it is and is so amazing and the research and advances are making kids and adults elsewhere are brilliant.
Aha lemons. You know what I mean
When life gives you lemons... GOSH teaches all of these brave children how to get the best out of their lives so you were kind of right! :)
I was transfered to the sister hospital Queens Elisabeth 2nd childrens hospital and had to go to great olmond st for scans etc both Amazing care. NHS is something that we in England are so lucky to have
Born in Stafford hospital and was in and out between 1990 and 1994 with skin infections from my eczema, my severe asthma and so on and could spend weeks there at a time. They treated me, my parents and every other person, man, woman and child like royalty. So when it appeared on the news that it was failing I had no words.
The NHS is incredible.....as a child I spent a lot of time in Booth Hall Children’s Hospital and then in Manchester Children’s Hospital.....I went from a child who couldn’t walk or use her hands and many other joints because of Juvenile Arthritis to eventually an adult who is able to be independent......through years of dedicated physios, doctors, orthotics, nurses and even the weird clown who would come round to the wards and scare the absolute shit out of me....and all of that was free for me as a kid and now as an adult who still regularly had check ups I think it’s amazing that the UK offers this.......forever grateful !!
It's thanks to the brilliant NHS staff at the LRI hospital both my children are alive. My eldest had a twisted testicle at birth and had to have an operation at 24hrs old to remove it .and had to spend time in the NICU and my youngest was born 4 weeks premature and had breathing complications and was rushed to the NICU to help him breath. Thanks to the amazing work the NHS did my children are happy lively preteens .
Amazing
If it wasn't for the NHS I could be dead or "unstable" now. (Turns out I have epilepsy and nearly died having a seizure a week before my 9th birthday. If they didn't diagnose me I wouldn't be on medication, I could be dead and if I was alive my seizures would be more often and worse). I can't thank them enough they saved my life and when I was scared or insecure they not only told me about my condition but offered help and advice from people with my condition so I could understand it more too. I can't thank them enough for everything they've done for me and my family. They helped my dad after he was hit by a car, they helped my grandma when she had kidney issues, they helped my mum after she lost nearly 2 pints of blood while she was in labor, they helped my brother when he injured himself (not naming where) and they helped so many other people no matter what. I love them ❤
NHS saved my dad from cancer & saved me twice when i was stupid enough to break my neck. God bless every one of them
Angels one and all. Thank you NHS xx
I’ve heard time and time again that in spite of the reasons for being a patient of Great Ormond Street, it is the happiest place with the most wonderful staff who go above and beyond. It is the jewel in the NHS crown
Thank you xxx
Beautiful ... thanks for sharing!
a few years ago I spent 6 days in ICU hooked up to all sorts of machines.... as an Australian it cost me nothing! after reading a heap of horror stories from around the world I'm very thankful to have grown up in a country with free health care.
Alex Turner is a fantastic example to all men what we could be in life, one of this country’s truly greatest people.
wow im on holiday as i saw this and i came to great ormand street hospital days after i was born and thanks to them im here today approaching my 18th birthday i love that hospital and all the people there
From an American, if you people get rid off the NHS it will be one of the greatest mistakes you will have ever made. Please fight to keep the NHS up and running.
mate we n the trains
NHS will never go 💙💙💙💙
I forget how moving this show can be
when its done right
Beautiful
My mum used to work at GOSH and then 6 years ago I went and had an operation there.
the NHS is the real MVP
Thanks to the NHS I get to choose as a woman what happens to my body for free. That means the world to me and a lot of other women too.
It's not life saving in my case (I'm fortunate), but the empowerment and freedom their help provides cannot be overlooked.
So thank you :)
I'm an American and this made me cry. I hardly ever cry.
I had lower jaw surgery when I was a child the surgeon not only fixed my chin and teeth he also changed my life I don't get picked on by my appearance any more and I'm beautiful I am so so thankful to the nhs and everything that they do for us they are so dedicated and are pure angels god bless to all of the amazing surgeons for the incredible work that they do for us 24/7 xxx
Lovely of you to do that. So emotional 😢. Those kids are amazing. Great Ormond Street is an incredible place.
Okay im getting emotiional now, Mrs Eastwood was my doctor at GOSH, bloody brilliant.
If only the world was like the NHS, helping people, not caring about your negatives or disabilities, supporting one another and just spreading joy to those who need it.
Absolutely love this programme!!
That was brilliant, thank you.
THE NHS IS AMAZING AND GOMS IS SUCH A KIND PLACCCEEE !!! this is what makes me proud to live in england
I want to like this over an over again
I held it together until that final video of Lucas on his bike❤️ the NHS and great ormund street do fantastic work
I am crying so hard. This warms my heart

This made me!!!!!
Subscribed because of this
Great show!
I cried when Alex cried.
Probably the only youtube video I've seen with no dislikes.
and good on them, if anyone dislikes this they have no soul
Spoke too soon :-(
Da spasso fortissimo 👍👍👍👏📹♥️
I can think of only three countries outside of the UK that have NHS style healthcare implementation as policy; Canada, New Zealand and France.
There are others that have similar doctrine but are structured differently.
I am an American and I have Medicaid insurance. This government-funded insurance doesn't cover much except basic care. I have to pay for all surgeries, medications, and specialized care. I have iron-deficiency anemia and pre-diabetes. I need to see a nutritionist and diabetic specialist. I will have to pay for each appointment on my own. Since I am unemployment and in school, I don't know how I could. They also closed the hospital closest to my home. There is a hospital(owned by the same company) about 20 minutes away, but it is not accessible by public transport. My insurance will pay for part of the taxi cost. The NHS would be great in the USA, but our government would get in the way of progress, just like it does now.
I hope Angel comes for their jobs in twenty years....
Love too all
I did not realise that spinal cords could be disconnected and then reconnected. Anyone have any idea how it's down?
Seriously, who would downvote this? Did they not listen to David Tennant at the end?
Adam Hill is Australia's Stephen fry. Go lucus and all kids in the same position!
Currently not a single dislike for the video. I've never seen that before
Spoke too soon :-(
Those two need to explain themselves!!!
Could be one of two types of people.
1, American Conservative who's so anti Universal healthcare they can't stand videos like this to be shown anywhere.
2, Someone from 'up North' who suddenly felt real emotions for the first time
Richard Phillips don’t expose us northerners, we feel things sometimes
Alex Horan disappointment and anger at the milkman when hes late dont count! 😝
I don't have to pay for my GP either in Australia. NHS (or Medicare as we call it) = wonderful.
cool video
❤❤❤ This show ❤❤❤
If only America could grow up and get an NHS done. I am one of the lucky parents who's child had a perfect physically healthy childhood. he's an adult now an doing great. My heart goes out to the millions of parents in the USA who have special needs children, and bills that are crushing. all should seek out St. Judes
Fucking Awesome !
This video was amazing, and definitely tugged at the heart strings! I love how you guys (except Josh, sorry Josh, maybe try harder next time) use your disabilities to advocate for rights for the disabled, and to give back to give people who are depressed about their disabilities hope that they can live perfectly normal lives regardless of their situation! Much love, and yes, even for Josh!
Hi, as an American just want to say I wish we had socialized Healthcare like Britain or Cananda. My life would be much easier. Not all Americans are against socialized Healthcare just the conservatives. I sure like every Healthcare system it isn't perfect but it is better than what I have.
damn ninjas have slipped in again cutting up onions making my eyes water
Raising awareness of the NHS. As non british citizen, is the NHS in some way under attack?
Magnus Ekström i think this is about the current UK government not providing enough money to the NHS but I could be wrong
In short, yes. The current government is deliberately underfunding it (they claim there is 'no magic money tree' unless it's for bombing foreign countries or paying other parties to vote the same way as the government) and undermining the doctors and nurses by forcing them to work dangerous hours for an unfair wage. Already I have seen gofundme campaigns so that people can get the drugs they need to live because the NHS says it doesn't have enough money to pay for it. The idea that anyone would have to beg for money so they can get treatment should never happen in a civilised society.
The health secretary (who was moved to foreign secretary two days ago as the previous foreign secretary resigned) even co-authored a book on replacing the NHS with a semi-private system. I understand that several people in government have, or are married to people to have, financial interests in private healthcare companies. It is in their interest to privatise our healthcare system and this directly harms normal people. The vast VAST majority of British people want to keep our NHS as it is one of the best things about living in the UK.
I think everyone should have free health care, you pay for it with your tax and your entitled to it. I love our N.H.S. they do a great job with long hours and rubbish pay.
Examples of what real men right here, example of what a real health system does... deliver free access to the best possible healthcare. The nhs could do with checking for health tourists but there is a lot the nhs does right.
What is that quote at the end?
the 8 dislikes are literal hell-demons. tf?
