ABOUT DRESSRELIEF
My name is Mariel, and I started getting into fashion in the past few years and am learning so much about it. I'm drawn to fashion as I believe it is an art form that not only allows individuals to express themselves but also creates a history and record of different time periods and generations. I've had a lot of fun learning how to put together outfits and use different styles to tell a story through the way I dress. This is my personal aesthetic ( mixed with a bit of 7 year old boy ) and no one really covers this aesthetic and I’ve been trying to find things that really make me look how I wanna look. I’m going to a new school so I wanna make a good impression, so thanks this helped a ton!
My favorite thing when learning about Pirates, was that a lot of of people who were labeled as "pirates" were just people who didn't fit into social norms and somehow got a boat. So a lot of women, people of color, QUEER PEOPLE, and anyone else who pretty much felt like an outcast would set sail as a group and just live their lives doing what they want.
There's a book I think you'd like if you haven't already read it! The Republic of Pirates, Colin Woodard.

Is there some kind of midevial asthetic that utilizes actual plate armor, like shinguards and gauntlets and chain mail, as well as banner colors?
Its not as popular as other aesthetics but the knight aesthetic/knightcore is definitely a thing! I would try searching those terms on Pinterest :)
